@@gastoncruz4885 when people stand in line hours for mediocre liquor at over priced value the market is over. Those in line just don’t realize it. The old "time vs value"
This won't happen because we live in the future. We know a lot more know then back in the day. These will never be on the shelf because they would get bought up and stored for the next bourbon boom.
Bingo. 😂 The only people that get it are dirty flippers, shop owners and their friends, whiskey tubers, and rich people paying secondary. The true whiskey people get the whiskey shaft.
Been collecting for many years and around 2000 when things started getting crazy I was getting pretty bummed out about seeing where the prices were going and then 2012 Roll Along and the rest is history I believe a lot of this has to do with distilleries example Wild Turkey selling 10-year rise for $300? I just don't see it any longer I believe that the distilleries has caused their demise by overpricing and allowing second-hand price gouging and sending their bottles to states that escalate the prices instead of giving to the controlled States they use many excuses as supply and demand but not all good Bourbons have to go down that path honestly I'm excited to see the bourbon market crash and watch all these distilleries go down with it because it means things will get better and I'm still going to be doing what I do
I know everyone should fit in frame, but dang my brotha from Woodinville ain't got no leg room! He's got two planes with their landing gear down not allowing for him to also! Hahaha Cool to hear glassware getting some love, I prefer snifter glasses almost always at home for my whiskey. Just because I don't ever make cocktails and like to drink neat!
Thanks so much for the Woodenville love I have been a buyer of their products since the opening weekend, I was there visiting two stepsons who know I love whisky and Woodenville was having their grand opening and still have unopened round bottles that they first released their juice in. Awesome distillery and always visit when I'm out that way. (:
Best of luck to these entrepreneurs, love it. It's a crazy time for luxury goods overall with the tight wallets. I'm in the boat business which is down. Hang in there.
Thanks for the heads up about insulated Ceramic lined Old Fashion cups....I love drinking a whisky with one large ice cube...insulated cup keeps is from getting so watered down.
I had stopped searching for the best whiskey glass years ago because the gelncairn was just better than is expensive competitors, the Norlan glass, the NEAT glass (which in my opinion is about as useful as a race car with a governor on it), etc. I was skeptical when people were discussing the Viski Raye. Having tried it, it is the best whiskey tasting glass on the market bar none. That really sucks because you can get those handy faux leather carrying cases for glencairns and you can find glencairns everywhere. Now I have to be the nerd who brings my own glassware with me, which means carrying 4+ glasses for comparative tastings. But the Viski Raye is my new favorite glass and yes, it makes a difference.
I think when you discussed Non Alcoholic, you should have also discussed cannabis products which I see exploding, and the intoxicating effect is fairly unknown for most new consumers.
I think We as an industry discussed canabis quite a bit 5-10 yrs ago and concluded there is some market take. But a lot of complementary development too. The no drinking period has had a bigger impact
I like Glencairn for critical tasting and for Scotch. I really like Libbey Kentucky Whiskey Trail for casual sipping. I have an 80’s square Jack Daniel’s lowball which is cool. I got into purpose built glassware with wine. The right glass for the right wine really makes a significant difference in taste, nose, and enjoyment!
The bourbon boom is definitely done. But all the new fans bourbon has made over the past 10 years are not going any where, so there is still going to be a significant demand.
Thanks for asking, Daniel! Fred is holding the Bruno Crystal Cocktail Glass, Brett has the Viski Alchemi Double-Walled Aerating Tumbler, Jon has the Apollo Tumbler, and Orlin has the Admiral Crystal Whiskey Glass. The analytical glass they mention is our Raye Crystal Whiskey Tasting Glass, and the stainless steel glasses with the TrueTaste ceramic coating are our new Paragon glasses.
Give me double wall glass glasses please. Insulation is paramount for cocktails but I have to be able to see it too. You can keep all your metal, ceramic, wood, etc.
Bulleit 12 yr rye and 10 yr bourbon are pretty good for the price. If you really want affordable well aged spirits, rum is a better option. Doorly's 12 year Barbados rum is like $35 a bottle and it's delicious.
I tried for many years since this Distillery opened up to get one of their special bottles but it seems like you have to sleep with someone from The Distillery to get one. It's all by Design
Inflation has driven a lot of consumers out of the market or at least made them rethink what they want to spend their money on. Similar to the movie theater industry. I know I have become a lot more selective
I'mm surprised to hear 'given up on Europe'... i thought the Uk and Germany had been boom markets before the Trump tariffs... bourbon interest grew big time in UK.
I have good friends who are/were traditional bourbon or rye drinkers say “eff it” and have lateraled over to single malts just due to scarcity and increasingly high SRPs. And from my perspective, it seems distillers are cannibalizing their mid-tier staples in the pursuit of more expensive expressions. And then there is the faux scarcity component - how many bottles of MWND Act 11 were produced? 120,000? And that came with a 20% price increase? GTFO. I’m at the point where I only shop Costco or establishments that sell at SRP. Let the secondary market burn - it benefits us who drink what we buy and the industry will adjust. /rant
I like the idea, but kind of weird to call it founders reserve. I usually think founders should be only used for something that company distilled themselves
consumers are fed up with the bullshit and finally getting smart about how they spend their money. People are tired of getting ripped off on over hyped, under performing whiskey and many newcomers have had the chance to try some of the unicorn bottles and realize that while they're very good, they aren't worth paying much more than MSRP for, and they're certainly not worth spending countless hours driving store to store to obtain. Now, the market has stabilized, good whiskey is obtainable and the consumer has become much more intelligent about what to spend money on. we'll see a lot of crappy, overhyped brands die off in the coming year or two as cash gets tight and their stock of quality whiskey dwindles. The companies who invested well into their own juice and production will be great.
I have found this is especially true with rye. Everybody wants to position themselves as a premium rye but very, very few are offering something that can even compete with cheaper standard offerings from brands like Heaven Hill or Michter's.
Wonder how much glassware John paid to be a part of this. Lost a lot of cred listening to this guy pushing his product the entire time on a “round table” But I’m not hating, I’d be cashing checks if I was fred too. Play on
Hmm.... Want to grow your markets ???? Simple. Get rid of ALLOCATION !!!! If you as a brand, were available in EVERY state, you would see your business grow exponentially.
It’s allocated because the supply doesn’t meet the demand. Do you think these distilleries are just holding bottles and choosing not to make more money? Like how did you think this was working 😂
I’ll consider bourbon “dead” when BTAC is findable and sold at retail

the 8 year is far superior to the newest release unless you're a fan of dickel
