Just about to receive my first airbrush and compressor for my 60th birthday. Glad I found your channel, very informative and helpful especially for a newbie like me.
Wouldn’t pulling the needle covered with paint back thru the airbrush cause issues? I’ve always been taught never to pull a dirty needle back, but rather forward to prevent pulling dirt and paint back into the action areas of the airbrush.
Yes, you are right. Especially when you still have paint or dirty water in the cup like in the video, it can flow back in the airbrush. I always clean the airbrush as much as possible, while the needle is still in and then remove it. After I remove it I grab a different airbrush and spray air through the hole I removed my needle to get all that paint that I can't reach with a brush out in the cup. Then I reinsert my needle and give it a final flush. I do this when I stop painting of course, otherwise when changing paint I just do a quick flush, without removing a needle.
The brush is good with the exception that isn't solvant resistant. I've melted the hairs of the brush by using Tamiya's airbrush cleaner and thinner. Tamiya paints are solvant based acrylics.
Great video! A brush like that is also very handy to wipe away any dried paint on the tip while airbrushing without the nozzle on. There's less chance of bending the needle tip than when using your fingers.
I’ve never found water based paint easy to clean out of my airbrush. I used solvent based paint and clean my airbrush with naked gun cleaner in the aerosol can and it’s an absolute breeze to clean.
I prefer using a paint brush with a fine tip cut so that it can reach deeper inside and bunch up at the end and then I just roll it a couple times and it gets everything. It works exceptionally well for cleaning out tiny flecks if you're using a metallic type paint with those tiny specks of whatever it is in it. It really gets down in it and gets it moved around, add some water and continue until you don't see anymore floating in the water.

Never, ever pull a needle out of an airbrush with paint, or anything else in it. You are simply allowing the paint, or whatever, to flow into places it shouldn't be. And never pull a paint covered needle out the back of the airbrush. Again, you are introducing paint into places it shouldn't be.
Nice video........Any small tip brush will work equally well, you don't have to pay extra just because of the brand name. The same goes for the airbrush cleaning solution. You're paying a premium for the brand name. Just get a spay bottle of Fantastic, or simple green that you can spray into the cup. By buying manufacturer named products you're paying much, much much, much more. than you need to to get the same results. Spend the money you're going to save on more models and have fun.............
You actually should remove the needle and flush through the back otherwise over time paint can get back there and you will find your needle will jam and you will have all sorts of issues trying to get it out if it ever needs replacing 👍🏻😉
Lol wow, some of the comments here are just ridiculous. Damn. Idk, just kinda made me laugh at a few of them. How is everything going carsten? Any big events happening anytime soon in the land down under? See ya on the next one man. Have a good one
I honestly made the video as I found this brush super helpful when cleaning , I was not paid for the video I marked it as sponsored as I received 1 x brush for free…iwata make great products and I only recommend what I use I also love GSI Creos and have used Paasche and badger in the past but don’t anymore hence why my videos don’t showcase their products 👍🏻
I'm just gonna put this out there - This product is BS. Seriously. The core idea is fine enough I guess. The issue though, is that they want 10 bucks for a cheap white synthetic brush. Really guys? Really? I can pluck a white bristle round out of any variety brush pack and clip the tip off with a knife and have the same product for under a buck.
Fair enough ….I don’t 100% agree , however I do think that the quality of my 15 year old micron is better than my recent ones , but that said there are many other brands that are also fantastic and for a cheaper price . My recommendation is to go whatever you are used to and what feels comfortable in your hands 👍🏻
WOW i cant even explain how many things you did wrong in this video. first never remove the needle like that during a cleaning secondly use a squirt bottle with some water and a little empty cup quicky mix with brush and then dump into the cup and bam most of clean up is done then you put some water in the pot and rinse the little remaining through spraying into the paint jar. shouldnt take any longer then 20 seconds. your way takes to long and is insanely messy.
Thanks for your comment and for sharing your method ….but, I would urge you to flush through the back ie…remove your needle, otherwise over time the needle will build up with paint and you will have all sorts of trouble, trying to remove it once your trigger movement gets sticky over time, due to not flushing through the back 🤔 my method may well take longer, however over my 20+ years of doing it, all my airbrushes even the ones 10-20 years old still work as new and I hardly replace needles and nozzles 👍🏻🤩

By buying manufacturer named products you're paying much, much much, much more. than you need to to get the same results. Spend the money you're going to save on more models and have fun.............
Never push back the pin from back of airbrush!
You actually should remove the needle and flush through the back otherwise over time paint can get back there and you will find your needle will jam and you will have all sorts of issues trying to get it out if it ever needs replacing 👍🏻😉
Rarely seen such a messy way to clean an airbrush. 😂
Lol 😂 maybe so but it works 😉
Lol wow, some of the comments here are just ridiculous. Damn. Idk, just kinda made me laugh at a few of them. How is everything going carsten? Any big events happening anytime soon in the land down under? See ya on the next one man. Have a good one
Cleaning completely wrong pulling the needle out like this☺️

Pure advertising: "iwata this and
that'', brainwashing....
It does seem like he makes the same videos over and over, usually peddling Iwata products.
Fair enough ….and you know what your idea is actually a pretty good one , I have no issues with anyone wanting to give it a go whatever works 👍🏻👍🏻
Easy ?
Easy enough 👍🏻🤩
👍😉👍
Thank you 🙏🏻
A paint brush . . .
Noob
Iwata is worst quality not worth penny
Fair enough ….I don’t 100% agree , however I do think that the quality of my 15 year old micron is better than my recent ones , but that said there are many other brands that are also fantastic and for a cheaper price . My recommendation is to go whatever you are used to and what feels comfortable in your hands 👍🏻
What are your thoughts on Windex as an ersatz airbrush cleaning solution?
