Although I feel it should've been obvious by now I won't be making League content on my own channels. I also know some people will ask "DOES THIS MEAN YOU'RE QUITTING MOE'S CHANNEL?!?!?!?" As I said in the video, no I love my job. My time is super limited and playing League gives me 0 satisfaction, only frustration. That being said if you were only here for League content (even though I haven't posted any in years) thank you for your support and it was nice having you around. I'll be continuing to create content for the games that interest me and hopefully show you guys who do ONLY play one game that there's a LOT more to video games than you think.
Love you all and see you next month where we talk about Team Reptile's upcoming game: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk!

This video perfectly summarizes my experience with league, and why I dread even touching the game. I love league's characters, lore, music, and its art. However, the game just isn't fun to play, mainly due to its extremely toxic community, and bad/greedy game design choices by Riot (among other things)

    I feel like sharing here:
I had a very similar expierence with league to the point it consumed me so badly that I lost on sleep, ditched friends and barely even left my room. After years and years of going through with it because I forced myself to have fun with it because I was scared of loosing my friends.
After having a horrible expierence with my mental, to the point where I saw myself becoming the toxic person,I hated so much, I just stopped it all (I usually tried to shift blame onto myself, the mindset of "i cant change my team, i can only change myself"). I wish I had called it earlier and invested those years into something more useful but hey, I would also not give up those years because they made me who I am. The break showed me I had a lot to learn about myself and that I actually have other interests besides videogames. This was a 4-5 year long break and I am happy to say I found other games that fullfilled me more in the down time.
Fast forward to mid 2019 or so, i picked the game again just for the sole purpose of dicking around in normals with friends and kind of "reliving" the old fun times. Sure the game can still get on peoples nerves every once in a while but most of the time we have a blast playing it together and dicking around. I kind of respect the people going through the grind kind of just because I know how horrible it can be / get. In my opinion the best way to play league is just to have fun. And if you cant, take a break or quit. The game can get addicting and ruin your mental very quick.
Obviously in no way am I trying to indicate that you should try it again, god bless you were strong enough to quit for good, I just really felt like sharing this after watching your video!

every online multiplayer game will have toxicity to some degree because people need something to compensate. if the game is competitive and a rank is behind taht even more so. its like with sports, which have become more and more toxic as well. and the more people join in the more toxicity develops. Although in an online game there would be certain things taht could be done to reduce toxicity by a large margin but Riot doesnt really care tbh. Now especially since League isnt the only thing floating their boat. The balancing became hilariously bad over the last 3-4 years. nobody watches live LEC or LCS , hell the co-streams have more views. if riot doesnt change shit up its pretty doomed my bois. a lot of people o know and i read about are quitting/ about to quit. 70% of my friendlist is gone in the course of this year. Well see if and when how Riot turnes this around.

@@sanstheskeleton679 There are many games that are supposed to invite feelings of fatigue, depression, force uncomfortable contemplation, or even just heartache through a combination of mechanics and story. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is super boring and a slog to play by the halfway point and you are only there to hang out with Roxas's friends. And at the same point in the story that is exactly how Roxas feels, the game is greatly enhanced by becoming a chore to play and only makes you want to play more. Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice and Death Stranding are other examples of games intentionally uncomfortable to play for the purpose of their narrative to great success (and I could talk about them for pages upon pages.)
And even in other games there are segments where they de-power the protagonist/player character. This both makes gameplay less fun, but also supplies a lot of perspective for how far the game and your character has come.
The "Fun-game-only" mentality is disgustingly pervasive among Nintendo games and fans. The medium of gaming shouldn't be restricted to being a Mario game. No story except one that makes you smile once a game, and something where it feels nice to control the character, but nothing past that.

You mentioned how certain games are meant to make you feel certain things, but in the end, did you enjoy how those feelings were delivered? If you did, then you had fun. Even if it was extremely depressing the entire play through, the game was successful in making you feel an emotion, and that can be enjoyable. If you don’t like the emotion it gave you, why bother?

I will tell you my experience with this game, i started it seriously in 2012 also i was in 8th grade, i was always a really extrovert kid and pretty popular around school, yes i played games since i was a young kid but not to the extent i would play league of legends, when i started it everything seemed nice i would play it on short bursts and it wasn't interfearing with my studies or social life, but then the short bursts started to transform into long gaming hours where i would yell at my family if they even dared to disturb my play time, my grades started going down too, i never was a genius in school but i would say i had above average grades, during this addiction my grades fell to the point where i would pass the courses just barely, my social life was gone also, declining meets with other people, and breaking bonds, when people gave me money as gifts for example on aniversary or christmas i would spend it on league nothing else, eventually i got to 11th grade and quit school because of league of legends, i can tell you that maybe this game gave me 1 year of happiness at most, and ruined more than 6 or 7 years of my life, I have since quit league and i have tried to install it again and try to play a match and after it i uninstall it because the game is so boring to me and just brings bad memories.
Now i am 22 years old and my life is back on track thanks to my family that helped me overcome this, i just have 1.5 years of college left and i will graduate as a mechanical engineer(Automotive sector).

Instead of quitting LoL, my friends and I just play it in the background as a time waster or as some chat room game. Riot's art and music team are super good but every other department sucks so much. They have the same shitty client riddled with bugs for so long. Each new champion like Sett, Aphelios, Senna, Yuumi etc. has some insane new mechanic that makes them broken (except yone and lilia from what I know) and if they aren't doing good on release, they overbuff them and neglect to nerf them for months. When problems with their game is brought up, they just make a post or announcement that makes empty promises that say they know and are working on it. @@LixienXIII You could not be more wrong. Halo when it was a popular competitive game, Heroes of the storm before Blizzard cancelled it. Hell you could name practically every competitive FPS game and they're all infinitely less toxic than League. Your blanket assumption that "gamers playing together on a team will inherently create a toxic community" is just moronic and has no logic to it. CSGO for example, for as much shit and trolling that happens there is not nearly the degree as League. The person or company that the community is founded on has control over what type of community they want. They have every bit of power to mold the community based on what behaviors they want to tolerate vs what behaviors they want to ban. Riot themselves openly endorses griefing and have publically on many occasions. It was either last year or the prior in which during the pre-season they literally endorsed griefing with showing a diana building 6 IE's and saying "experiment!" in a video they released trying to hype the pre-season.
Now compare that to blizzard, a company who everyone knows just how dogshit they are publically and how terrible their grasp is on balancing and not sucking the fun out of their games. What did blizzard do on several occasions when various pros would get upset at solo Q and grief their teams? They banned those players from competitive play for a year and banned the accounts they were playing on. What did Blizzard do when people would dodge drafts and not care about holding lobbies hostage? They added "silencing" and leaver buster which made you have to play AND win 3-5 normals before you could play ranked again and silencing made it so if you queued up any mode, you'd be put in low priority queue and you'd be matched with mostly other people who were also silenced. For all the horrendous problems that game had and blizzard still has, they actually did things to at least attempt to stomp out any toxic players and streamers/pros/community figures that got "tilted" and griefed games. Even if it was 1 game they would get punished because with how the replay system worked you could save replays locally and thus there was always evidence to upload online.
Riot on the other hand has done literally _NOTHING_ to even address this problem. It took Voyboy, fucking Voyboy, a guy who was effectively the Mr Rogers of League to make a video about what was obvious for YEARS now: League's community was ruining the game and not just in a minor or unimportant way. What did Riot do? They literally just copy+pasted the report function from the post-game lobby into the Draft and said "let's call it a good day's work!" And let me make one thing clear: No one cares about the toxic manlet typing a storm in game chat. We all can mute that person and Riot gives you the ability to disable all forms of in-game chat so if you ever do see flame in-game it's because YOU chose to see it. What we can't mute however is the 0/2 top laner that gets upset because he played lane bad but doesn't want to take personal responsibility for himself and instead spam pings his jungler and literally just AFK perma fights his laner when he's down items and levels already because of his personal mistakes. I CAN'T mute a teammate's griefing like that. I don't care what someone types to me online or over voice chat. I played xbox 360 during the Halo3/CODMW2 days. I know far worse verbal toxicity than League. Riot doesn't care to address this problem because, namely, it isn't a problem that they can monetize. There's no financial gain out of spending weeks and weeks and paying employees thousands of dollars to fix a problem that not only cannot be permanently fixed but also will require a consistent punishment system with a fair amount of manual review. There's also no incentive in doing that as they made this bet years ago that players would continue to complain about actionable toxicity (griefing, inting, holding games hostage, etc.) but they would also continue playing the game even if Riot did nothing because they are addicted. Riot made that bet and it paid off. So all these threats by streamers mean nothing because Riot also is aware of the obvious fact that most of those streamers NEED league as their main source of content for their job as a streamer.

Couldn't agree more with your points especially about the Amumu. In a reverse scenario to your D5 promos out of plat, about 2 weeks ago I was in my demotion game from Plat to Gold. I got a support player who was on a 5 game loss streak and decided to lock in Anivia support with ghost ignite and he would use his wall ability during trades/situations where I wanted to walk back to block me in from retreating and effectively made me feed. After dying twice I just let the enemy bot lane push the wave to my tower to farm but as you guessed it, once he was 6 he'd use his R on the wave to deny me the CS. I lost that game and got demoted down to Gold after spending about a month for the first time in about 2 years of playing League to actually "Tryhard" and focus on self improvement. I climbed from Silver 2 to Plat in 1 month. There was a lot of fun in the grind for Plat (which was my goal) but there was even greater frustration and numbness to the experience. I wasn't exactly like you where you didn't enjoy wins, but every time I'd lose 2+ games in a row I couldn't help but think "God damn it, now I have to play 3+ more games to back to where I started the day just to break even." I came from SC2 to this game and it just shocks me how much the playerbase of this game in particular is vehemently against self improvement and self analysis. In SC2 that was everything because you had no one else to use as an excuse for why you lost. The inherent nature of a 1v1 game forced you to take accountability. League doesn't.

I played Overwatch and CSGO before I started League of Legends. I was never toxic. Actually, I usually tried to make the team less tilted when playing them. Then I got into League. I played it for 3 months seriously after playing it for a year. I would get angry when someone would do poorly, which doesn't seem like that, but I wouldn't get annoyed at all in any other games, so this really changed me. The game is really annoying to play when you tryhard in ranked. People are toxic for no reason. The few matches I carry with a cool play, I get excited, play another match, and get annoyed. I got Gold, and now I only play normals. (Technically just started to weeks ago.) The game is fun, but if you play it through tilt to tryhard, it gets boring. Just enjoy the game and stop flaming all the whole time, especially in normals. I might stop playing completely because even Nexus Blitz and ARAM are toxic.

I started playing LoL in 2019, after my friend, Kos, had introduced me to this game. Both of us were noobs. My friend was playing Jax at the time and I was playing Kayn. At the botlane. We were eventually so bad that we said things like "I DON'T NEED ITEMS I CAN SHRED HIM EASILY". I got addicted to this game and after a long time, I started playing ranked with Kos. We were quite good. Usually I was winning my lane, and so did he. However, everytime he didn't inform me that his enemy was out of lane I became toxic and started yelling at him saying "WHERE IS THE SS MAN". I wish I had never done that... I even spent 110 into LoL... In March of 2020 my account was permanently banned because I called names at two trolling premades. I had no idea how the ban system worked. 1-2 months later Kos' account was banned as well for exposing Riot at the chat. Both of us stopped playing this "game".

The key to keep enjoying League is: have variety in what you play. Don't overplay the game, don't say "I'll go to bed whenever I win", know when to stop, take breaks, and learn from your mistakes AND your teammate's mistakes too. Also have other games that are stress relievers, either PvE shooters, solo games, or strategy ones. Or just do something else. I still enjoy League and I've been playing since Season 3 and never quit until this day.
Of course: Quitting or not doesn't make you better either way though, it's just games lol.

Such a great video, everything u said is true. I quit league like 1 month ago for practically the same reasons. The game became way too competitive for me and all I cared about was some goddamn points on a video game( LP) and ranks, despite the fact that they mean practically NOTHING. I had no fun anymore playing the game. The only thing that gave me joy about it was participating tournaments and clashes with my team. They were very fun. But they weren't enough. Most of the time I had to grind and get a good soloq rank, frustrating myself and forced to play with doshit players all the time which just piss me off and ruin my day. If anybody reading this comment is thinking twice about quitting League of Legends, I highly recommend u to not even think about it. Just do it instantly. If u can't uninstall the game, start playing a lot less than u are playing right now. Focus on something else. Once u get busy with something else, u will feel like u have no time to play league anymore. You will also get a new source of dopamine, which will mean a lot more to you than just some numbers on a video game. Good luck out there, I love u

My first rank was bronze 5 (lmao) and i was just climbing slowly, next season b1 then silver. At this point i quit because it just made me really frustrated. After 2 years i returned. I got gold and now, this season I am at my peak P2. This happened when i started 1tricking achampion and having a pocket pick. For 4 years of playing ranked, I wouldn't care about playing a role, learning it and becoming better. I just wanted to play. Oh i just bought a new champ. tImE tO tRy It OuT iN rAnKeD. And it would work for 1 game (somehow idk most likely got carried) and then play it again, and again and lose. At one point I would have like 800 games of Ranked AND NOTHING ELSE. To me, normals didn't exist, neither did flex, nor ARAM. I started playing normals in Season 10 with my friend and i started having fun by playing troll shit and just having fun in game and laughing.
TL;DR Was a shit bronze 5 player who would play random champs in ranked, started 1tricking got higher ranked, realised it was boring, started having fun with friends in normals.

My favorite part of old league was there really was no set rules on how to play. Sure the community made up the meta and lane roles but Riot encouraging it is what made it worse. Before we could go anywhere and people get annoyed but adapt. Now if you dont go your lane then people quit, feed on purpose, report etc. League is communism.
But the biggest reason Riot encouraged a one set play style is they made it that way. They changed the champs so they can only be strong in one role. They deleted or changed the items so they can only be used for one role. There is basically 1 or maybe 2 ways to play each champ now. Before there were hundreds.
So yeah, I dont like league anymore. Its a play to win game that Riot made "fair". Also how is it fair that Riven can feed my ass on purpose then some how still do damage and survive damage? The game makes no sense anymore.
The dude is right. Win or lose, the game isnt fun anymore. For me, it was more fun playing characters in crazy and un-expecting ways. Not this communist crap.

I wanna share my experience as someone who played from late S4 and after years of playing casually decided to play rankeds in S10. Bear with me, it is lengthy.
All of it is basically what you already said, you lose, you win, in the end you feel like a robot. Now, it is easy to say League is toxic and toxicity is very well accepted (because everyone does it, including me), the simple soulution is to just mute somebody, right? Which I totally agree upon, but you know it is really really bad when you just go /mute all on every match just because you already see the typical signs of people getting ready to flame you or your other team mates. I am currently climbing for the first time and for a ''first timer'' I am doing very well (I still mess up a lot) but it really really is frustrating, as a support main, when your carries mess up a lot and make you lose your team. You can buy all the needed supp items to keep a team alive i.e Redemption, Solari. You roam the mid lane and stay at bot, keep two lanes strong and alive, so your jungle can focus on top, you keep the enemies weak or make them lose cs, you tell your team to group up as FIVE and they do the oppossite, you tell them not to fight in a jungle against a cc-heavy team with carries that are superb in close combat and they just do it again. I do not expect to be the highest on the ladder, but after years of hearing about ''elo-hell'' or ''hardstuck'', I finally know what people know by it, undeservily. It is different than when I play a fighting game such as FighterZ, where I know I mess up because I lack experience and practice and I see my deadly mistakes. Another issue is the acceptance of smurfs, like every new friend you make says he/she has a smurf. It ruins rankeds because you are not playing against someone NEAR your rankeds. But once you point it out, people come out with excuses such as ''Yeah, I just do it for fun'' or ''I just have a bad day and want to have it not so hard'' or even worse, when they justify it with ''Well, people learn from losing against someone with better skill. They will benefit from'', it is like saying it is totally fine when a master in Martial arts cripples a child because the child will learn from someone who is better. I really really hate how much it is accepted that people, who finally struggle in a competitive mode, who finally got the rank they belong to and where they can grow, can just make a new account to just have it easier again. And no, I do not feel good when I notice I have a smurf in my team, the win feels undeserved and shitty. Another issue is with the community is the meta, I swear, people always play the same. There are over a hundred champions, tens of runes and keystones, but people always and really always use one way of playing the game (looking at you Klepto Ezreal and GP). People do not main champions, they main metas. I can partially understand them, because Riot really refuses to change things, just look how long Conqueror exists and just look how many champions use, I swear, the cheer amount of times you see this rune, even on champs such as Cassiopeia or Katarina, not just bruisers. And this brings me to my next point, the champions Riot Games is releasing. It is very easy to say a champ is broken, just like to point down a community is toxic, but the last champions, except one or two, are so overloaded. Just look at the amount of dashes, cc, mobility and damage the newest champ, Yone has. Another good example is Senna, a ''support'' who is so overloaded, she can heal and damage a lot. And you know what is the worst? Sure you can bare those champions, but then Riot Games god damn buffs them coincidentally at the same time these champs get skins! Honestly, why should I main something fun like Bard, a champ who needs a lot of skill to be used efficiently, when I can use more and double with half the work when I play a being such as Yuumi or Senna? I can tolerate old champions having their big issues, really, I can even tolerate a Pentakill Machine such as Yi. Because those champions are old, they can serve as an example how to do things wrong, but what Riot does is just using these champions as an inspiration. Honestly, why should the community even think about changing, when Riot really delays or refuses to do good change. And no, I do not hate everything about Riot Games, I do like this Season the most actually, but all those good things that I like feel so futile when I just see new releases such as Yone. And when that is not enough, Riot just nerfs or buffs champions all based on Pro-play. Not the solo-queue, just role-play. So the fun champion you learned the whole time, trying to master it because he/she needs a lot of skill and are very unpopular, yeah they got nerfed because >1% of players abuse him to death i.e Release-Ivern and Release-Aurelion Sol.
TL;DR After 6 years decided to play rankeds. Wins and loses make me feel like a robot. Community made me /mute all every match. You giving your best as a supp main, help other lanes and buy the right items are meaniningless because of carries deciding to not coordinate and communicate. The normalisation of smurfing and even justifying it with pity excuses. People do not main champs, they main metas. Riot is very slacking into fixing or removing things i.e Conqueror ruin. The newest champs are really really overloaded i.e Yone, Senna and they get even buffed when they get a skin. All the good things Riot Games does are pretty great but become futile with new releases such as Yone. Riot cares only about Pro-play and buffs and nerfs champions accordingly, even when it means it could damage solo-queue.

I started playing league last year and after going on the ranked grind for the first season. Now i realise that normals and chill while following the pro scene is the best league experience.

Ngl I needed this. I’ve been looking CONSTANTLY for a reason to quit league. This was it. Literally every point you made, I feel. Not worth it. Thanks man. I don’t watch Moe videos cause he’s as toxic as the rest and it’s annoying but for real, I’ll be watchin your stuff. Cheers. And thanks
