His attack animation is the reason I went for him on his first banner. The arcing water from his slices just reminded me of some really flashy and cool attack combos from Kingdom Hearts.

I personally think everyone should be thankful for reruns, For players who already have them means saving time. For players who wants them them they can pull, also rerun characters has tons of reviews, maths and showcases. It's perfect.
After kokomi banner there is a rerun banner back to back, for someone who already have both tao and childe or don't want both and already saving primo since shogun banner the game may feels dead.

If you already have the character you want (say, Ganyu) guaranteed, well then guess what? Even better! Because you can have more primos to pull for their BiS 5 star weapon .
Childe wasn't willing to wipe a whole nation for a fun fight. He was ordered to do so as he tells you later in his story- he’s simply a pawn. Also He doesn't put his brother in dangerous situations, He just has no time as a soldier to see his brother, And his brother really wants to see him. So he protects and makes that innocent facade

He's actually a very nice character.. :) I have him since his 1st banner and he's still in my main team even tho I have ayaka, hutao, xiao ect... That or you can learn about the concept of quickswap n proper rotation. Childe is one of the best hero in the game, also one of the more complex. The fact he's unsuitable for beginner doesn't make him a bad hero. Get Yoimiya if you want a simple hero.

It's funny because Raiden is the reason I started using Childe again. His AOE DPS goes through the roof with her E ability, especially when you have Skyward Harp. Raiden can also take over when Childe's E is down.
And he alleviates the problem with using Raiden and Beidou on the same team, since you can just use her burst and then swap to Childe, and after that go to Raiden to recharge
This piques my interest, I’d like to pull for Thoma (hopefully HuTao as well) but damn I kinda don’t wanna miss out on Childe’s banner as well edit: I also have both Raiden and Beidou and I think it’s the best course of action for me to pull on this man-child
@@acquaintfate8579 I think it's completely the opposite. Unless you really like Childe, you really don't need him if you have Raiden. Raiden with bennett xiangling Kazuha is better than childe. Also you can slot in xq and save Kazuha for the other half, making a national team that's way more operational than childes team
Another reason why Childe's abyss usage rate went down is because Floor 12-2-1 and 12-3-2 only have one enemy (Magu Kenki and Mech cube). And Childe in single target situations is relatively weaker. Once the floor 12 brings back samurai mob floors, fatuis, 4 ruins guard, mech sentinels and etc, surely Childe's value will come back up.
i've been using him for the past and the current abyss to get 36 stars. i use childe international team (childe, kazuha, xiangling, bennett), much better and faster than using xingqiu cos childe's an on-field enabler and his riptide is chef's kiss (i've used xingqiu previously). esp this abyss leyline provides shockwaves using normal attacks after max stacks or after using elemental burst and childe's melee attacks are considered normal attacks. it's pretty neat imo.
Yeah, some people calculated that with 4 star weapons, his single target damage on his E is about the same as Kokomi when her ult and jellyfish is up. If not for his great quadratic aoe, you are actually better of just using Kokomi. So he is irrelevant in boss fights unless you run one shot comps.

If you pay close attention to before Childe releases Osial, he actually says that doing it is largely against his morals, so no he didn't want to drown Liyue just for the sake of a good fight, he only cares if his opponent is actually strong and poses a challenge to him

Personnally I started playing when he got his rererun back in August and I got him. At first I was excited because it was my first 5* but since I was a newbie I didn't really understand his mechanics so I just let him take the dust. And then I got Itto who is to this day my main DPS so for me Childe was just like a Qiqi. But now that I understand more about the game I'm going to give him a new chance.
I just think it’s so satisfying to play this guy with electro charged. So many numbers that my game starts lagging a bit and all the enemies are dead in about 2 seconds. Weird that he’s getting a second rerun, but I like him. His lore is great, he’s pretty charismatic, he looks cool, his animations are really cool and he’s fun to play. I also think he’s the most likely character to die later on in the story. Idc what you say, he’s as good as dead already. Not my favourite character, but I like him a lot.

It's just super satisfying
it's great, i've used xiangling bennet raiden childe to clear abyss fl.12, great synergy, good rotation, huge burst dmg you can change xiangling to beidou to make firework comp too
And as for Childe as a character I think IWtL has a very narrow perspective about him as a person and a role. Childe is *not* a good guy, and he acknowledges this several times. He's a warrior that enjoys battle more than anything in his job, he wont kill if its not absolutely necessary for the mission. This is a soldier's mentality, he knows he belongs to sketchy group with shady intentions but he just copes with it to get tons of money + protection for his family + battle strong opponents. The reason he lies to Teucer is quite simple and I dont get the video's reasoning. Would you tell your little brother (probably 8 years old or so) that looks up to you so much that you are a hitman that goes around collecting debts or punishing those who fail to provide? That you are a Fatui soldier that will even kill those in your way? He doesnt want Teucer to go that path and so he hides it from him. This is extremely obvious when Childe tells Teucer in his quest that strength should be used to protect, he's clearly being hypocritical but you cant blame him for trying to educate his brother on good morals and decency. As for the mass genocide thing, he did it knowing that it would force Rex Lapis to intervene. Osial would have been defeated before Liyue Harbor were to be harmed so he did use the lives of Liyue to make their god appear. Was it inmoral? Yes. Was it necessary to carry out the mission? Yes aswell. To me he was as much to blame for everything as Zhongli was, who let all of that happen as part of his "experiment" with Liyue and its people. Again, Childe is not a good person and he knows it, but that doesnt mean hes a bad guy either. Its that friendly yet deadly personality what really makes his character. Despite finding the most joy from battle he clearly also cares about the Tsaritsa's dream and his family's safety. His grey position is what makes her a rather cool antagonist and well written character. Half of the cast in Genshin is bland as heck, Im glad not all characters are sunshines and rainbows.
childe is a bad guy and mihoyo is just bad at writing lets be honest. They tried to write a sympathetic antihero type but failed because they don't know how to do it.
didn't even mention tartag beido electrocharge comp :( another thing to keep in mind is if you use tartag in the firefighter comp you can have xingqiu for second team with diluc hutao ayaka etc

FYI, the Childe-Xiangling-Bennett-Kazuha comp is commonly called the "International team". Both because all characters are from a different nation and because it is a chinese pun. Something to do with the chinese names of two characters and a chinese company, I don't remember exactly.
It's specifically the chinese characters of Childe and Kazuha when combined is a chinese pun for Wanda International (a famous Chinese company) and thus, the international team was born.
Maybe the reason why Mihoyo wants to sell him is because he was built as the most complicated character in terms of designing him programmatically and animation. It was stated from v2.0 livestream.
i bet his sales will tank again. his sales is average at 1st release and on declining trend at his rerun even with rosaria hyping his banner. now on his 2nd rerun he compete with hutao + touma. thats like guarantee tanked like kokomi and yoimiya banner. and i havent mention staff of homa banner and his new weapon banner whos also good for ganyu.
@@chifu_ch his sales only good at jp (even kokomi outsales zhongli rerun in japan) but average sales (iirc hes right in the middle, if you put the money amount obviously will look impressive because it still alot of money but compared to other banner its average) and declined on rerun at global and cn possibly even jp. There is statistic shown in the internet. On 3rd rerun he definitely will even tank harder. He compete with hutao whos one of the best carry and alot more popular character and touma whos hyped new characters and it seems hes gonna be meta as xiangling alternative. He also compete with staff of homa, the most busted weapon so far in the game (bis on zhongli, hutao and touma) and also the new bow that while bis on childe also possibly bis on ganyu too. The competitor are just too good, its like mhy setting up childe banner to tank on purposes. Similar case as yoimiya banner that tanked hard due to competing with long awaited ayaka and super hyped raiden.

people call him an enabler but hes much more then that his dmg is insane too. the fact that a whale like him doesn't like childe because hes so f2p friendly is reason enough to pull him as a f2p. whales cant flex on childe because he is super strong as is and his constellations just make it so you can be pepega with his e and ignore rotations. all characters should be designed like childe where they are already powerful and constellations just make them pepega proof

Hu Tao also married to Xingqiu and wants a shielder. Zhongli and Diona are widely contested units too. Morgana uses 2 broken characters in the game, and 3 5 stars to the boot. Moryana uses very very very good Ayaka, Venti/Kazuha who are broken, wants Mona or Xingqiu for hydro (or Kokomi). Raiden National uses the game's 3 best units and now your Xingqiu can't be used in 2nd team. Xingqiu is practically married to on-field pyro DPS like Hu Tao, bis in taser and enables some freeze team except Morgana. Melt Ganyu wants Bennett, Xiangling/Kazuha, and shielder generally Diona and Zhongli, another widely contested units. So isn't the issue of Childe "requiring" Bennett and XL non-issue? Flex slot don't even need Kazuha, Sucrose is more than enough although Kazuha provides better CC. If you want to talk about how a unit don't need hogging of other units, Xiao then lol. Or Eula but she still wants a battery like Diona who is widely used in Morgana too. Doesn't make sense to do that to Childe when other top tier comp also requires: Venti Kazuha Bennett Xingqiu Xiangling, to a certain extent Zhongli and Diona

morgana/moryana is much easier to play btw. Melt ganyu is hard but its damage ceiling is significantly higher than any childe team. Raiden national has higher damage ceiling as well. Eula can work with kaeya/rosaria so thats a non issue. Did you actually bother checking those team comps' overall strengths before commenting? If any meta team that requires as many top tier supports, is better than childe's team, then there is no point in pulling specifically for him, is there?
Usage rate is such a weird metric to use because of how each abyss cycle favours different characters and teams. we have maguu and the PMA floors where his quadratic damage scaling doesn't mean shit. people keep bringing up abyss usage rates as if it's a good measure of power level, but it really isn't. Just simply looking at how often characters are used is not enough to infer any conclusions because there's so much missing data. Like what the current abyss favours, character investment levels, availability of certain team comps, actual clear time (e.g. even if Team A clears twice as fast as Team B, because both teams manage to get 3 stars, they are both shown to be on the same level, but that's not true at all), personal preference (e.g. even if I can clear abyss with 5 team variations for the maguu kenki side, only 1 of them will be used and shown in the data, not because the other 4 variations can't do the job, but i just wanted to play that team because of flavour of the month or just preference).

i share your sentiments towards childe, but if you're gonna hate on him, do it without misinterpreting his character. childe's intent in liyue chapter 3 is not genocide for genocide's sake, it's to see the will of the tsaritsa realised without compromising the safety of his family. while he does enjoy a good bloody battle, as seen with him challenging the traveller, he doesn't want to see liyue and all its people destroyed. osial was only in the cards as a last resort to bring rex lapis out of hiding (of course, correct me if i'm wrong, it's been months since 1.1). he's not a good guy. he doesn't see himself as that, he never tries to justify himself. he's a soldier working for a militant group to provide for his family. he lies to teucer and teaches him values he doesn't uphold so his brother doesn't turn out like him. he's not some bland villain, or some disposable henchman to the god he serves. don't get it twisted tho i hate childe (sarcasm) and seeing him fight a hydro slime like a fool was hilarious
Yeah, I think that him wanting to protect his family shouldn't equal that he wants to protect every single person. Liyue citizen were collateral damage during the Osial quests since it was all of his family and realization of Tsaritsa's plan (admittedly it was plan b but still premeditated nonetheless). With how harsh Snezhnaya's climate is, the weak will perish which is unfortunate but that's how the cookie crumbles so he appears to see life in the save fashion. At least Tartaglia didn't make excuses for his evil deed or try to prove why he is morally right lmao.

"childe" is a poorly translated title, something closer would be "young master". the quotation marks are also left out, making it harder to differentiate between title and name. this happens with the other harbingers too, like "the ballader" and "la signora" should all be in quotes, but they're not. his real name is ajax while his alias is tartaglia. just something i found :D
Actually, "Childe" is not a poor translation. From wiki: "In the Middle Ages, a childe or child (from Old English: Cild "Young Lord") was a nobleman's son who had not yet attained knighthood". So while it is correctly translated, it's just not something we use anymore so nobody really knows the context behind it. Maybe an oversight? Dunno. Young Lord also doesn't seem right to use and not sure what other words might qualify as a title.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about his passive talent that increases the level of attack of his entire team by 1. I think that talent alone will prevent him from ever becoming truly irrelevant. It's a really good talent, I could see him being a great addition to many team comps in the future as they expand the roster. I find he works pretty well with my Xiao for example because his talent buffs Xiao's plunge damage and Childe can fill in as DPS when Xiao's burst is down. Is it a perfect synergy? No, but I could see Mihoyo creating a character that combos with Childe even better in a similar fashion.
Yep yep I wrote a similar comment... he is a time limited character like hutao, xiao & yomiya they're just not supposed to stay on the field for all the time... also no cap but he just tried to bring him down.. he didn't even gave us good pros or cons they were just random
Problem is, unless you find a team for him to fit in while also gain extra damage from that talent. It's over just better that slot is spend on someone else instead of giving Childe that slot just because of the talent that don't really add much.
Just like Ayaka having the same talent as Albedo, maybe mhy will release an arguably more meta relevant character that has the same talent as Childe in the future
@@Aibadenshi i slap childe on my hu tao team sometimes when i dont want to use kazuha or albedo on it since its usually hu tao + xingqiu + zhongli + (flex). xingqiu helps battery him and i basically use him as an ult bot after hu tao is on cd, he manages to vape his ult for some good aoe nuke damage and then gets off the field again while still buffing hu taos normals. (i have her crowned) the only con is hydro resonance can cause hu tao to overheal, but i have a shimenawa hu tao so i dont use her burst very often, so she doesnt end up overhealing.
Honestly, Childe just feels like an extremely well designed character in terms of visuals, fun kit, balance, just a lot. EDIT: Don't go for Kokomi C1 if you're not a whale. I love her but don't.
I get that hes not your favorite character, but most of the powerful team comps in the game use multiple strong support units. Its unfair imo to say its a downside when you got other teams running the same supports. Being a fast hydro enabler is a benefit in that it frees up your xingqiu for your other abyss half who is an invaluable unit for comps like vape, freeze, and tazer teams.
the difference is that childe isn't even irreplacable as an enabler while being 5 star, and he still requires all 3 of the best supports in the game. hu tao requires xingqiu, fair, but not bennett or xiangling. Permafrost requires a strong hydro like mona/xingqiu, but not bennett or xiangling either. National team is good on its own with xingqiu, childe is a side grade for a five star that you could very well just invest into getting an independent dps like eula that doesnt require any strong support at all. People literally cant understand that requiring 3 best support units is straight up just bad.

Kinda funny how Childe went from unplayable if not c6 because he was supposedly a whale toy with his c6 totally changing his playstyle to one of the most f2p friendly because his cons actually are meh, lol. I just want Childe because melee stance has always been so fun to me, plus his VA is cool and his lore besides some bs is interesting. I Lost to him twice, 1st banner got Keqing, 2nd 60 wishes no 5*, but now i'm not sure if i want to pull since I want weapons and Yae.

i won't said Childe was consider to be unplayable when he first release but at the time of his first release, main dps was the trend (Diluc was still S tier by many people), subdps/quick swap wasn't a thing yet so basically back then they were using Childe the wrong way. Now after the discover of national team and many quick swap team comp(like morgana), people finally understand how to play Childe correctly

Even the National Team only came out like 6 months after launch once people figure out “snapshotting” and how powerful Vape is. It was interesting that MiHoyo released Childe so early on when he was a pretty technical character and people didn’t understand the game yet.
agreed. i have 2 specific teams. mona ganyu diona venti and childe xinagling zhongli/sucrose and bennet. i might try to build a raiden team as well but thats for later i guess. i wanted raiden coz i simp for her and she is cool. hu tao team is my next target. XD
Childe is one of my faves and I got so anxious in his first banner thinking I wasn't gonna get him. Now I feel kinda dumb working so hard for him bc of his two reruns lmao

Childe did express regret for having to resort to Osial. So didn't Childe go off script and essentially disobeyed because he wanted to find a more peaceful solution (which obv didn't land in his favour). @@laefardgonsleis5670 Actually, the battle would have still happened but NOT have the 3rd Phase (aka the full Foul Legacy Transformation bit) and he would have just water jumped away like he did post-Osial summon OR he would still use FLT and we would have chased him down in some sort of "mobile battle" like the sky battles against Dvalin but using Geo instead of Anemo.
The fact that Childe is just all for a beatdown makes me love him lots. Like no "I wanna try being a mortal" or "I'm a great tactician of war so I plan my every move" just "Give me good fight lol".
Childe didn't want to drown the city for a good fight it was his task to draw out rex lapis and second In that cutsense he said "I would rather not bring weak people into this, but I have no other choice" none of this justify his actions but as somone who loves his character and think he has the best story lore in the game so far I can understand his reason
As an Childe Fan, I totally agree with you! Iwintolose simply misunderstood Childe's thoughts, he hates him in a very wrong way. Childe does not love killing weak people, Even the rival like traveler, Childe doesn't want to kill him at the first place, he just enjoy the process of fighting and finish his task as humanity as he can, he just have no choice but to summoning the ancient god in order to see the rex lapis.

Actually Childe isn’t a name at all and more of an alias, he says it the first time you ever meet him. In CN, he’s referred to as “Gongzi”, which means “young master”/“son of nobility”. Reasons why they chose “Childe” is most likely because its an archaic form of “young master”/“a young man of noble birth” for perhaps localization reasons. Reason why he’s also called “Tartaglia” is because of the harbingers being named after the characters in “comedia dell’arte”. His true and birth given name is “Ajax”, but of course he wouldn’t just disclose that to just anyone given his harbinger status which is why they only stick to titles/codenames/alias’s.
Tartaglia was my very first 5 star in game so he holds a special place in my character usage list. In the overworld and abyss, I tend to keep him in my teams as he's one of my best built Characters as well. Keep the Childe buffs coming Mihoyo!!

He was the first 5 star I actually wanted and heavily grinded for. When I heard during 1.3 that childe was getting a rerun during 1.4 I literally immediately started speed running through all the content, getting any primogem possible. I finished Liyue and Mondstadt's world quests, got all the occuli, farmed all the chests I could get my hands on, logged in every single day, did every single event. This was after having played the game on and off to very rarely for like 2 months after losing the 5050 on his first rerun. Now, I look fondly back on him as he is the one who carried me to victory in so many battles and gave me the power to be able to fight abyss floors 9 and 10. While I don't use him as much anymore due to having ayaka and yoimiya (though I might use him again since my xl is really well built and his rerun ignited my spark, alongside him working well with Hu Tao which I might get), he still has a special place in my heart.
I'm thinking of pulling for him because I think his playstyle is fun and he would fit my team comps, but after a while does his playstyle get boring? I wanted to ask someone who mains childe

I believe they made him a character that is getting stronger and stronger because that part of his lore, he said in the story that he will be more powerful every time we meet him, so interesting way to see his character progression and how strong he becomes
Tbh the only character you really need to hyper invest into in the International comp is Xiangling. For Childe while he does a lot of damage with investment, he can still do his job in that team even with a "poor" build. He is kinda like Venti and Xingqiu in that sense, his mechanics is enough to make him viable.
While I think Xiangling should be invested in primarily first you still want to heavily invest in Childe as well and once Xiangling is acceptable you should make Childe acceptable as well and then resume building Xiangling a bit until she hits a new tier and then go back to Childe again. This is because their dps contribution is actually quite similar. Xiangling only slightly does more damage than him against 1-2 targets but once there are multiple targets Childe will be doing more damage.
xl reverse vape with childe is good even with comparatively low investment because they both do a lot of dmg, so you'll have two sources of good dmg going on at the same time
Childe is basically going to be the "Durandal" of Genshin, like in Honkai, many updates have passed and introduced many indirect buffs to Durandal. He is one of MiHoYo's favorite. And if Childe's usage is declining, just expect that "MiHoYo will remember this".
Within the ChildeMains community, the Childe Xiangling Bennett Kazuha comp is called INTERnational, seeing as all 4 members are from different nations, we have snezhnaya liyue mondstadt and inazuma
U forgot to mention i think the most important strenght. Imo hes riptide is the most satisfying playstyle in the whole game, on +2 or more mobs... wich is the majority of the engagments in the game, the fun factor is really important. The two most satisfying playstyle in the game are not the most OP but damn they are fun to play, and the other one that i am reffering to is Ninguang, specially c6 and the nice thing is one is really fun on +2 or more and the other one is super fun on single target.
he did mention the quadratic scaling on his riptide on many mobs. Also mentioning fun factor is a personal reference so he doesn't need to mention it if he didn't feel like it
tartaglia doesnt need xiangling to deal lots of dmg in the team. Why? because tartaglia is actually buffing xiangling by aplying hydro and make her vaporize. Tartaglia is a On field enabler, more than a main dps. He supports his sub dps. Thats why beidou and xiangling are op with him, because he enable them to deal more and more dmg
he said you can just use Xingqiu. I think his number is average. but skill design is kinda bruh. -At C0 his E CD design keep his uptime < 50% (then uptime isn't matter anymore with good rotation team but still, he need long rotation team than most characters. with 60-70% uptime doesn't make him that OP. It's just bruh design from Mihoyo) -His passive that buff his archery instead of main dmg from skill. and until today. a good comp with him always rely on skill or burst (+of other sub dps) just why? mihoyo

i think the comparison with childe + xiangling vs hu tao being a hyper carry is a little unfair. hu tao deals more damage herself but she also has a teambuilding cost with her needing a shield (Zhongli, Thoma) and Xingqiu for Vapes. She also has problems with Anemo characters because she cant apply Pyro with her E for the Anemo supports to shred or she'll lose the buff etc. Childe is very synergistic and he actually works with more teams than just Xiangling. Childe Beidou Fischl Sucrose is great and he works in some freeze comps, so yeah
Tbf, other top dps units also demand other top support units. Hu Tao, who's also coming up, is basically glued to Xingqiu at this point. Even Xiangling goes nowhere without Bennett. The point about Childe hogging top tier units is a pretty unfair thing to level at him when literally everyone else does the same thing.
That's exactly what I don't get. Hu Tao needs Xingqiu and a comfort character which is Zhongli. She needs Kazuha for mono pyro teams. And for melt she needs Ayaka, Rosaria or Ganyu. Melt Ganyu needs Xiangling, and Xiangling needs Bennett. Her Morgana team also needs either Venti or Kazuha and Mona or Kokomi, with a cryo battery like Diona or Aloy. Ayaka is glued to freeze comps, and most of her teammates are the best in the game like for example Diona and Xingqiu. Diluc also needs Bennett and Xingqiu. Raiden needs Xingqiu, Xiangling and Bennett. Eula needs a battery like Diona or Raiden, and preferably someone who can CC. Xiao also needs a battery and Zhongli. The bad thing about Childe is that his team needs higher investment to work, but that doesn't make him any different from other characters who also rely on specific characters.

When I first got tartaglia, I hated him and I didn't use him for months. Then, when thundering pulse came out, I kept hearing people saying how great he was with it, so I got the weapon. And I also got him to level 90 with good gear. He is absolutely amazing with good investment. But I'm always surprised at how few people mention how broken he is with C6 Fischl. Oz has no internal cooldown at c6, and will attack as fast as the character on the field can attack. He also attacks every enemy that the on-field character attacks. This results in tartaglia unleashing and utter apocalypse on groups of enemies.
People have know about these two since 1.1 lol it's just that Raiden exists now and she outright does more damage than fischl AND she batteries the team as well so people stopped caring about fischl
@@konokhda That's true but xingling best enabler is childe, xiangling needs bennet, kazuha best role is grouping and double swirling. Grouping makes childe riptide more effective, due to the quadratic scaling. Literally the perfect match for each other. he frees up xingqiu which can bhe use for other meta comps like tazer on second half, or xingqiu dependent unit like hutao.
@@konokhda It's not like you can use Xiangling to her max potential without Bennett. You can use Bennett without Xiangling, but you cannot maximize Xiangling without Bennett. So saying that he takes both Xiangling and Bennett is not a good excuse when both are typically stapled to each other, even in a Raiden comp. Also Kazuha is just an optional extra who improves the team and covers the lack of CC. He is not required unless it's for competitive content like speedrunning. You can put Sucrose with VV+TTDS or Albedo 4 Archaic (with Freedom Sworn if you have it) and the team will work just fine.
@@konokhda kazuha isnt a must in international, while he is the most optimal option he is hardly irreplaceable, literally anyone can take his spot and do a good job, fischl, albedo, sucrose, hell even kaeya or rosario to freeze.
@@yuurai Childe international team's biggest strength is its aoe damage, cc is extremely important for this team, sucrose's cc is too weak and has a long cd unlike kazuha. sucrose can only swirl one element between hydro and pyro, when Kazuha can swirl both at the same take to make Childe not only an enabler but the second dps in the team. thats why this team suddenly became way more relevant after kazuha came out of course you can still use the team without kazuha, its just way worse

Actually for the team who developed Childe went through quite a lot of martial arts education to get that fighting style childe have right now, they work extremely hard for childe as he is the only dual stance character in the game. Whenever the production team of childe gets interviewed, you can see the pride shining from their eyes. Maybe this is why Mihoyo is promoting childe this much as to give him a third rerun.
Childe is honestly my favorite character lol, I think his stance change is the most fun in the game, he might not be the strongest, but I think he’s one of the most fun. Also I love his character in the story
I wish you did your research before talking about your least favorite character. Raiden-national(Raiden/xiangling/xingqiu/bennet) does not out class international(childe/xiangling/bennet/anemo unit) out side of their niche(heavy bosses that cannot be knocked back by overload). International does not have energy issues with xiangling as long as you playing right(at least 140 energy energy recharge to 160ish and catch a couple of bennett's E's on xiangling).

The English version suggests that he's someone who doesn't care about his subordinates and views everyone and everything else as trash, and that this world is only fit for "strong people" like himself to live in, hence, he feels no hesitation to summoning the god and destroying Liyue, which makes this version of him psychotic and egotistic. I mean, the reason why people use Childe rather than Xingqiu on the international team, is because Childe also have a good chunk on AoE, especially if he have Viridescent Hunt, or Kazuha have a good E placement. Xingqiu's mostly single-dps only, that's kinda why people still say Childe is better than Xingqiu. Also Childe's hydro application is kinda unparalleled, having riptide and fast attack speed, making his hydro application is better than everyone else (well hydro-application wise, but other factor like duration, xingqiu and kokomi is still abit better)
Exactly, Childe is much better against multiple enemies while also dealing a large amount of damage and hydro application. I don't think xingqiu can replace that. Also his E cooldown shouldn't even be a problem at all once you have a team with good rotations. But alas what can you expect from someone who hates the character and doesn't do enough research on him. I'd recommend Zy0x's new video on Childe to anyone interested instead.
@@Anikane childe is a 5 star lmao, and its not like he's "irreplacable" as you're making him out to be. xingqiu is more versatile as he also heals, mitigates damage and has off field application, albeit single target. if both can perform well enough to clear abyss, then there is 0 reason to pull for childe just to replace xingqiu.
It's called "International" comp. Because Childe, Xiangling, Kazuha and Bennet are from different region. It's also one of, If not the best Team in general which is best at any situation. The other competitive teams are Morgana and Tazer sucrose. All of this requires your team to be somewhat mid investment, But the payoff is very good that it's worth it. The only true hypercarry that doesn't depends on anyone is Xiao. To whales childe might not be good, because his cons doesn't match up the value of the money they've spend. But to low spenders and F2P, Childe is arguably the most valuable unit to have. Trust me, I used to hate him as well, but he's so good I just can't hate him.
International team is definitely not the best "general team". It's the best racing team because it has insane frontloaded damage. But it lacks sustained damage and survivability. Hence why Raiden National is almost a direct upgrade, and is the most used team comp in abyss.
So what's your favorite part about his lore: Him lying to his whole family? Him lying to his brother thus putting him in serious danger all the time? Him trying to murder an entire nation just for kicks? Or perhaps him pretending to be our friend just to steal Morax's Gnosis? I'm just curious

@@vicious2097 skyward harp is worse than thundering pulse and not by a tiny amount. Skyward harps passive is pretty much 0 dmg increase on childe while pulse adds on r1 +20% atk, and with 3 stacks +48% NA dmg. That NA damage increase is huge. You also get way more crit stat from thundering pulse than from skyward harp because in genshin, crit rate : crit damage is 1:2. So if thundering pulse provides 60% crit damage, Harp should provide 30% crit rate but it does not. Sure, it has +20% crit damage in the passive but that still only equals to 30:60 crit stat while pulse also has it's 20% atk bonus on top and the massive NA boost. There is no reality where skyward harp is better than pulse, on childe. And for additional info, the new bow that's supposed to come alongside childe's rerun has a dps increase of around +3% over the thundering pulse. That's only for the burst and for his normal attacks it provides no dmg increase. I have a spreadsheet I can provide where each dmg calculation between Polar star vs Thundering pulse is shown with each refinements if you don't believe me.
Yknow what? I personally have grown to like childe a lot throughout the months. I didn't even want him on his first rerun and got him in one ten pull by accident. But I can definitely see why people wouldn't like him as a character.
There are just so many misunderstanding about Childe. I personality hate Raiden a lot more than many of my friends, but at the end of the day, I figured that not all the bad actions determine whether a character is justice or not, there are reaons behind that force them to do something un-humanity. Also this feels out dated as you didnt mention his thundering pulse bow it's the strongest bow for childe at the moment, and he also doesn't need a team to be good a well built childe can easily hit upwards of 8k to 10k without a team with good enough artifacts (not recommended)

I think sometimes people don’t realise that there are lots of people starting the game every day and miss out on these great characters that they would have really wanted because they were limited. This is me with tartaglia for example, I started in version 1.6 and ever since not a single character except kazuha which I couldn’t afford since I just started interested me. I saw tartaglia in the story and fell in love with his character, then I played him in the hyukkin ikki event as he was one of the trial characters and loved his move set. I was very sad though because I knew it was very unlikely he would get a 3rd rerun, but when I saw he was getting a rerun in 2.2 I was so happy. I now have him c1, level 90, and god artifacts and I’m so happy with him.

Its not very far behind the team he mentioned as his best in the video. It was practically equal power level to that team before they buffed xiangling 2 million times in every update.

If youre running benny childe performs better because the higher personal damage making more use of bennys buff. And barbara makes it significantly slower aside from in one case and thats if youre running venti. Because venti... well hes venti. And barb frees up healer slot and can hit up into venti Q. Even then its slower, just hilariously more convenient and low effort. Super comfy.

Childe can also be paired with Beidou, Fischl as Electro charge team, paired with Bennett, Kazuha/ Sucrose, Venti to one shot the Viridescent domain or the first part of 12- 1 or freeze team. Matter of fact Childe has the most team comps of all. I know this is late but I wanted to say that at least anywhere to express how I'm tired of seeing misleading information about this character from the people who overpraising him. Well, to be fair there is a lot misleading information about characters but I saw the most about Childe because there are always hot discussions when this character is mentioned. It's so nice from you to mention Thundering pulse, yes, one of the best if not the best bow in the game which you can get by giving up your soul and kidney just in case the first one isn't enough :D If character is good, then It's not important what weapon you will use. Good luck in electro-charged teams without highly-invested characters though. I tried Childe with Beidou which people overpraising till today but not only I lost in Beidou dps but also Childe couldn't do at least decent numbers. Rosaria, Xingqiu, Xiangling in different teams did better with worse builds that I got during one or two weeks than my Childe until I completely gave up on him after months of worthless attempts to get at least something from him. Also he isn't the only character who can one-shot things and deal big numbers, I saw how Xingqiu one-shoted pyro cube, lvl1 Yanfei did idioticaly big damage that one-shoted cryo flower just because reactions were very strong. It's irrelevant and forced point to make Childe better in that role because it's possible even for Amber to reach big numbers constantly if she has really strong build and team, same goes for almost every character and Childe isn't special here. He can be special because you might like how he does this job with his mechanics, playstyle etc. Also Raiden isn't fair comparison because electro doesn't have an element with which it can deal equal to melt/vape reaction, yet she still can do pretty good damage while being just a support character with worst element in the game. Who said that Ganyu is stucked with Morgana if you can put her in melt comps for example? Seriously I'm not a Ganyu fan and don't even have her but the amount of teams in which you can fit the character is tied with your imagination and creativity because this game is pretty flexible even though some team comps are surely more comfortable to use. Xiao isn't picky, he just didn't get the things that other characters have, yet he still can compete with them while being far from his true potential. The final thing is about IWTL not liking Childe but liking Raiden. Don't see double standarts at all. To be fair both characters are completely different. Why you even compared them and mentioned it in your comment I don't know. If you want to make something misleading and prove your point please at least try to be more flexible in your arguments. Thundering pulse isn't the strong and valuable point to convince people to pull for a character🥴 I saw a lot of people overpraising Childe, saying how hard and complex he is (whis is wrong, both of this terms aren't fit Genshin) but not only they didn't mentioned his role but they didn't even said about how he should be built in terms of investment. And it should be mentioned because understanding how resin-efficient and worthile the character you want to build is very important at least in terms of how long you will enjoy the game.
i disagree with the take "childe needs the best 4 stars with him". Yes he requires xiangling , beidou and bennett to be competitive. But isnt that also true for other varations of the national team ? The original national team with xingqiu, bennett, xiangling, maybe sucrose. Takes up 3 or 4 of the best 4 stars in the game to be good! All of the evils that caused the end of Khaenreah might be from there as well. All of that at 14. If you discovered interdimensional travel, got stuck in the source of evil of the world, then met and learned cursed techniques from an interdimensional human/mutated khaenreean thing/whatever Childe's master actually was, you'd lose a few screws on your head as well. He spent months there, then came back and only days had passed, just to hammer home how much of a mindfuck it was for him.

During the time that National team was introduced into meta, most playerbase only have one or two 5* and thus having four 4* clearing second team abyss is valuable and liberating, so that initial sentiment still lingers until today. Plus, they're all 4* so it's easier to get and build them. But a 5* dependency to the 3 best support in the game are seen as restrictive when there are other 5* that doesn't demand as much to perform at their best.

Look, in reality nobody is protesting that Childe's best team has the three best supports coz it's a top-tier team, actually probably the best AOE team out there. However, when Yoimiya demanded 3 top-tier supports too, people kept saying it's a dps being hard-carried by her supports. It's already 2.2 yet Childe team is still meta. Metaslaves from CN *cough* acknowledged that Hutao team and Raiden team are the best for single target while Morgana (and variations) and Childe teams are the best for AOE content.

@@daisyllow8647 The fact that freeze Ganyu comps use at least 3 5* doesn't seem to bother much and didn't prevent it to be the most popular team for a time tho. You even have a full premium variant by replacing Diona by Ayaka. And that team still get away with it. From my point of view, the so called national team (really dislike this name) even in its vanilla form with only 4* is much more problematic as it has high chance to cause conflict when you need 2 teams. The national teams enters in conflict with reverse-melt Ganyu, Diluc, Hu Tao, any comps that use Bennett. That's probably about 90% of the current meta teams.

You were asking why 4 supports in national team are seen as a good thing compared to when 5* needed the 4*, and I believe that's the reason why. There is a miss translation with childe story. Childe didn't want to bring harm to any innocent people. It was Zhongli who pushed him to do so. Zhongli was ready to put innocent PPL in harm. Childe is loved in CN and JP cuz they have correct story about. In EN translator messed up.
Childe is hands down one of the best and most useful characters you can have in your roster. It’s great that you mention one team and the fact Xingqui can replace him in it, but you need two teams for abyss and one of the biggest Childe’s strengths is literally that he frees Xingqui. Hydro enablers are super useful and scarce, that’s why Childe’s good.

Childe wasn't willing to wipe a whole nation for a fun fight. He was ordered to do so as he tells you later in his story- he’s simply a pawn. Also He doesn't put his brother in dangerous situations, He just has no time as a soldier to see his brother, And his brother really wants to see him. So he protects and makes that innocent facade

Childe is one of the best hero in the game, also one of the more complex. The fact he's unsuitable for beginner doesn't make him a bad hero. Get Yoimiya if you want a simple hero.

It's funny because Raiden is the reason I started using Childe again. His AOE DPS goes through the roof with her E ability, especially when you have Skyward Harp. Raiden can also take over when Childe's E is down.
And he alleviates the problem with using Raiden and Beidou on the same team, since you can just use her burst and then swap to Childe, and after that go to Raiden to recharge

@@acquaintfate8579 I think it's completely the opposite. Unless you really like Childe, you really don't need him if you have Raiden. Raiden with bennett xiangling Kazuha is better than childe. Also you can slot in xq and save Kazuha for the other half, making a national team that's way more operational than childes team
Another reason why Childe's abyss usage rate went down is because Floor 12-2-1 and 12-3-2 only have one enemy (Magu Kenki and Mech cube). And Childe in single target situations is relatively weaker. Once the floor 12 brings back samurai mob floors, fatuis, 4 ruins guard, mech sentinels and etc, surely Childe's value will come back up.
i've been using him for the past and the current abyss to get 36 stars. i use childe international team (childe, kazuha, xiangling, bennett), much better and faster than using xingqiu cos childe's an on-field enabler and his riptide is chef's kiss (i've used xingqiu previously). esp this abyss leyline provides shockwaves using normal attacks after max stacks or after using elemental burst and childe's melee attacks are considered normal attacks. it's pretty neat imo.

Yeah, some people calculated that with 4 star weapons, his single target damage on his E is about the same as Kokomi when her ult and jellyfish is up. If not for his great quadratic aoe, you are actually better of just using Kokomi. So he is irrelevant in boss fights unless you run one shot comps.

Personnally I started playing when he got his rererun back in August and I got him. At first I was excited because it was my first 5* but since I was a newbie I didn't really understand his mechanics so I just let him take the dust. And then I got Itto who is to this day my main DPS so for me Childe was just like a Qiqi. But now that I understand more about the game I'm going to give him a new chance.
I just think it’s so satisfying to play this guy with electro charged. So many numbers that my game starts lagging a bit and all the enemies are dead in about 2 seconds. Weird that he’s getting a second rerun, but I like him. His lore is great, he’s pretty charismatic, he looks cool, his animations are really cool and he’s fun to play. I also think he’s the most likely character to die later on in the story. Idc what you say, he’s as good as dead already. Not my favourite character, but I like him a lot.

My favourite team right now is Raiden, Childe, Kazuha, and Diona; Raiden skill,Diona ult, then Kazuha ult and skill to suck everyone in Diona's ult, and then I use Childe to freeze them in place while also doing electro charged so everyone gets damaged. It's just super satisfying
it's great, i've used xiangling bennet raiden childe to clear abyss fl.12, great synergy, good rotation, huge burst dmg

And as for Childe as a character I think IWtL has a very narrow perspective about him as a person and a role.
Childe is *not* a good guy, and he acknowledges this several times. He's a warrior that enjoys battle more than anything in his job, he wont kill if its not absolutely necessary for the mission. This is a soldier's mentality, he knows he belongs to sketchy group with shady intentions but he just copes with it to get tons of money + protection for his family + battle strong opponents.
The reason he lies to Teucer is quite simple and I dont get the video's reasoning. Would you tell your little brother (probably 8 years old or so) that looks up to you so much that you are a hitman that goes around collecting debts or punishing those who fail to provide? That you are a Fatui soldier that will even kill those in your way? He doesnt want Teucer to go that path and so he hides it from him. This is extremely obvious when Childe tells Teucer in his quest that strength should be used to protect, he's clearly being hypocritical but you cant blame him for trying to educate his brother on good morals and decency.
As for the mass genocide thing, he did it knowing that it would force Rex Lapis to intervene. Osial would have been defeated before Liyue Harbor were to be harmed so he did use the lives of Liyue to make their god appear. Was it inmoral? Yes. Was it necessary to carry out the mission? Yes aswell. To me he was as much to blame for everything as Zhongli was, who let all of that happen as part of his "experiment" with Liyue and its people.
Again, Childe is not a good person and he knows it, but that doesnt mean hes a bad guy either. Its that friendly yet deadly personality what really makes his character. Despite finding the most joy from battle he clearly also cares about the Tsaritsa's dream and his family's safety. His grey position is what makes her a rather cool antagonist and well written character. Half of the cast in Genshin is bland as heck, Im glad not all characters are sunshines and rainbows.

FYI, the Childe-Xiangling-Bennett-Kazuha comp is commonly called the "International team". Both because all characters are from a different nation and because it is a chinese pun. Something to do with the chinese names of two characters and a chinese company, I don't remember exactly.

On 3rd rerun he definitely will even tank harder. He compete with hutao whos one of the best carry and alot more popular character and touma whos hyped new characters and it seems hes gonna be meta as xiangling alternative. He also compete with staff of homa, the most busted weapon so far in the game (bis on zhongli, hutao and touma) and also the new bow that while bis on childe also possibly bis on ganyu too. The competitor are just too good, its like mhy setting up childe banner to tank on purposes. Similar case as yoimiya banner that tanked hard due to competing with long awaited ayaka and super hyped raiden.

He's such an amazing enabler that I don't think he's going out any time soon and I can't wait to see what else will synergize with him

whales cant flex on childe because he is super strong as is and his constellations just make it so you can be pepega with his e and ignore rotations. all characters should be designed like childe where they are already powerful and constellations just make them pepega proof

Hu Tao also married to Xingqiu and wants a shielder. Zhongli and Diona are widely contested units too.
Morgana uses 2 broken characters in the game, and 3 5 stars to the boot.
Moryana uses very very very good Ayaka, Venti/Kazuha who are broken, wants Mona or Xingqiu for hydro (or Kokomi).
Raiden National uses the game's 3 best units and now your Xingqiu can't be used in 2nd team. Xingqiu is practically married to on-field pyro DPS like Hu Tao, bis in taser and enables some freeze team except Morgana.
Melt Ganyu wants Bennett, Xiangling/Kazuha, and shielder generally Diona and Zhongli, another widely contested units.
So isn't the issue of Childe "requiring" Bennett and XL non-issue? Flex slot don't even need Kazuha, Sucrose is more than enough although Kazuha provides better CC.
If you want to talk about how a unit don't need hogging of other units, Xiao then lol. Or Eula but she still wants a battery like Diona who is widely used in Morgana too. Doesn't make sense to do that to Childe when other top tier comp also requires: Venti Kazuha Bennett Xingqiu Xiangling, to a certain extent Zhongli and Diona

morgana/moryana is much easier to play btw. Melt ganyu is hard but its damage ceiling is significantly higher than any childe team. Raiden national has higher damage ceiling as well. Eula can work with kaeya/rosaria so thats a non issue. Did you actually bother checking those team comps' overall strengths before commenting? If any meta team that requires as many top tier supports, is better than childe's team, then there is no point in pulling specifically for him, is there?
Usage rate is such a weird metric to use because of how each abyss cycle favours different characters and teams. we have maguu and the PMA floors where his quadratic damage scaling doesn't mean shit. people keep bringing up abyss usage rates as if it's a good measure of power level, but it really isn't. Just simply looking at how often characters are used is not enough to infer any conclusions because there's so much missing data. Like what the current abyss favours, character investment levels, availability of certain team comps, actual clear time (e.g. even if Team A clears twice as fast as Team B, because both teams manage to get 3 stars, they are both shown to be on the same level, but that's not true at all), personal preference (e.g. even if I can clear abyss with 5 team variations for the maguu kenki side, only 1 of them will be used and shown in the data, not because the other 4 variations can't do the job, but i just wanted to play that team because of flavour of the month or just preference).

i share your sentiments towards childe, but if you're gonna hate on him, do it without misinterpreting his character. childe's intent in liyue chapter 3 is not genocide for genocide's sake, it's to see the will of the tsaritsa realised without compromising the safety of his family. while he does enjoy a good bloody battle, as seen with him challenging the traveller, he doesn't want to see liyue and all its people destroyed. osial was only in the cards as a last resort to bring rex lapis out of hiding (of course, correct me if i'm wrong, it's been months since 1.1).

Yeah, I think that him wanting to protect his family shouldn't equal that he wants to protect every single person. Liyue citizen were collateral damage during the Osial quests since it was all of his family and realization of Tsaritsa's plan (admittedly it was plan b but still premeditated nonetheless).
With how harsh Snezhnaya's climate is, the weak will perish which is unfortunate but that's how the cookie crumbles so he appears to see life in the save fashion. At least Tartaglia didn't make excuses for his evil deed or try to prove why he is morally right lmao.

Actually, "Childe" is not a poor translation. From wiki: "In the Middle Ages, a childe or child (from Old English: Cild "Young Lord") was a nobleman's son who had not yet attained knighthood". So while it is correctly translated, it's just not something we use anymore so nobody really knows the context behind it. Maybe an oversight? Dunno. Young Lord also doesn't seem right to use and not sure what other words might qualify as a title.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about his passive talent that increases the level of attack of his entire team by 1. I think that talent alone will prevent him from ever becoming truly irrelevant. It's a really good talent, I could see him being a great addition to many team comps in the future as they expand the roster. I find he works pretty well with my Xiao for example because his talent buffs Xiao's plunge damage and Childe can fill in as DPS when Xiao's burst is down. Is it a perfect synergy? No, but I could see Mihoyo creating a character that combos with Childe even better in a similar fashion.

@@Aibadenshi i slap childe on my hu tao team sometimes when i dont want to use kazuha or albedo on it since its usually hu tao + xingqiu + zhongli + (flex). xingqiu helps battery him and i basically use him as an ult bot after hu tao is on cd, he manages to vape his ult for some good aoe nuke damage and then gets off the field again while still buffing hu taos normals. (i have her crowned) the only con is hydro resonance can cause hu tao to overheal, but i have a shimenawa hu tao so i dont use her burst very often, so she doesnt end up overhealing.
Honestly, Childe just feels like an extremely well designed character in terms of visuals, fun kit, balance, just a lot.
EDIT: Don't go for Kokomi C1 if you're not a whale. I love her but don't.
I get that hes not your favorite character, but most of the powerful team comps in the game use multiple strong support units. Its unfair imo to say its a downside when you got other teams running the same supports. Being a fast hydro enabler is a benefit in that it frees up your xingqiu for your other abyss half who is an invaluable unit for comps like vape, freeze, and tazer teams.

the difference is that childe isn't even irreplacable as an enabler while being 5 star, and he still requires all 3 of the best supports in the game. hu tao requires xingqiu, fair, but not bennett or xiangling. Permafrost requires a strong hydro like mona/xingqiu, but not bennett or xiangling either. National team is good on its own with xingqiu, childe is a side grade for a five star that you could very well just invest into getting an independent dps like eula that doesnt require any strong support at all. People literally cant understand that requiring 3 best support units is straight up just bad.

Kinda funny how Childe went from unplayable if not c6 because he was supposedly a whale toy with his c6 totally changing his playstyle to one of the most f2p friendly because his cons actually are meh, lol.

i won't said Childe was consider to be unplayable when he first release but at the time of his first release, main dps was the trend (Diluc was still S tier by many people), subdps/quick swap wasn't a thing yet so basically back then they were using Childe the wrong way. Now after the discover of national team and many quick swap team comp(like morgana), people finally understand how to play Childe correctly

@@jakeail1995 When Genshin released, the peak DPS was a Diluc doing 150k dmg with Q in Abyss. People didn’t have that much game knowledge yet. Even the National Team only came out like 6 months after launch once people figure out “snapshotting” and how powerful Vape is. It was interesting that MiHoyo released Childe so early on when he was a pretty technical character and people didn’t understand the game yet.

Childe did express regret for having to resort to Osial. Summoning Osial was originally planned by Zhongli and Signora afterall

Actually Childe isn’t a name at all and more of an alias, he says it the first time you ever meet him. In CN, he’s referred to as “Gongzi”, which means “young master”/“son of nobility”. Reasons why they chose “Childe” is most likely because its an archaic form of “young master”/“a young man of noble birth” for perhaps localization reasons. Reason why he’s also called “Tartaglia” is because of the harbingers being named after the characters in “comedia dell’arte”. His true and birth given name is “Ajax”, but of course he wouldn’t just disclose that to just anyone given his harbinger status which is why they only stick to titles/codenames/alias’s.

Tartaglia was my very first 5 star in game so he holds a special place in my character usage list. In the overworld and abyss, I tend to keep him in my teams as he's one of my best built Characters as well.

He was the first 5 star I actually wanted and heavily grinded for. When I heard during 1.3 that childe was getting a rerun during 1.4 I literally immediately started speed running through all the content, getting any primogem possible. I finished Liyue and Mondstadt's world quests, got all the occuli, farmed all the chests I could get my hands on, logged in every single day, did every single event. This was after having played the game on and off to very rarely for like 2 months after losing the 5050 on his first rerun. Now, I look fondly back on him as he is the one who carried me to victory in so many battles and gave me the power to be able to fight abyss floors 9 and 10. While I don't use him as much anymore due to having ayaka and yoimiya (though I might use him again since my xl is really well built and his rerun ignited my spark, alongside him working well with Hu Tao which I might get), he still has a special place in my heart.

I believe they made him a character that is getting stronger and stronger because that part of his lore, he said in the story that he will be more powerful every time we meet him, so interesting way to see his character progression and how strong he becomes

Tbh the only character you really need to hyper invest into in the International comp is Xiangling. For Childe while he does a lot of damage with investment, he can still do his job in that team even with a "poor" build.
He is kinda like Venti and Xingqiu in that sense, his mechanics is enough to make him viable.
While I think Xiangling should be invested in primarily first you still want to heavily invest in Childe as well and once Xiangling is acceptable you should make Childe acceptable as well and then resume building Xiangling a bit until she hits a new tier and then go back to Childe again. This is because their dps contribution is actually quite similar. Xiangling only slightly does more damage than him against 1-2 targets but once there are multiple targets Childe will be doing more damage.

xl reverse vape with childe is good even with comparatively low investment because they both do a lot of dmg, so you'll have two sources of good dmg going on at the same time
Childe is basically going to be the "Durandal" of Genshin, like in Honkai, many updates have passed and introduced many indirect buffs to Durandal. He is one of MiHoYo's favorite.
And if Childe's usage is declining, just expect that "MiHoYo will remember this".

U forgot to mention i think the most important strenght. Imo hes riptide is the most satisfying playstyle in the whole game, on +2 or more mobs... wich is the majority of the engagments in the game, the fun factor is really important. The two most satisfying playstyle in the game are not the most OP but damn they are fun to play, and the other one that i am reffering to is Ninguang, specially c6 and the nice thing is one is really fun on +2 or more and the other one is super fun on single target.

tartaglia doesnt need xiangling to deal lots of dmg in the team. Why? because tartaglia is actually buffing xiangling by aplying hydro and make her vaporize. Tartaglia is a On field enabler, more than a main dps. He supports his sub dps. Thats why beidou and xiangling are op with him, because he enable them to deal more and more dmg

i think the comparison with childe + xiangling vs hu tao being a hyper carry is a little unfair. hu tao deals more damage herself but she also has a teambuilding cost with her needing a shield (Zhongli, Thoma) and Xingqiu for Vapes. She also has problems with Anemo characters because she cant apply Pyro with her E for the Anemo supports to shred or she'll lose the buff etc. Childe is very synergistic and he actually works with more teams than just Xiangling. Childe Beidou Fischl Sucrose is great and he works in some freeze comps, so yeah

Tbf, other top dps units also demand other top support units. Hu Tao, who's also coming up, is basically glued to Xingqiu at this point. Even Xiangling goes nowhere without Bennett. Hu Tao needs Xingqiu and a comfort character which is Zhongli. She needs Kazuha for mono pyro teams. And for melt she needs Ayaka, Rosaria or Ganyu.
Melt Ganyu needs Xiangling, and Xiangling needs Bennett. Her Morgana team also needs either Venti or Kazuha and Mona or Kokomi, with a cryo battery like Diona or Aloy.
Ayaka is glued to freeze comps, and most of her teammates are the best in the game like for example Diona and Xingqiu.
Diluc also needs Bennett and Xingqiu.
Raiden needs Xingqiu, Xiangling and Bennett.
Eula needs a battery like Diona or Raiden, and preferably someone who can CC.
Xiao also needs a battery and Zhongli.
The bad thing about Childe is that his team needs higher investment to work, but that doesn't make him any different from other characters who also rely on specific characters.
Same with hu tao who need a shield to not get one shot lmao

When I first got tartaglia, I hated him and I didn't use him for months. Then, when thundering pulse came out, I kept hearing people saying how great he was with it, so I got the weapon. And I also got him to level 90 with good gear. He is absolutely amazing with good investment. But I'm always surprised at how few people mention how broken he is with C6 Fischl. Oz has no internal cooldown at c6, and will attack as fast as the character on the field can attack. He also attacks every enemy that the on-field character attacks. This results in tartaglia unleashing and utter apocalypse on groups of enemies.

Grouping makes childe riptide more effective, due to the quadratic scaling. Literally the perfect match for each other. he frees up xingqiu which can bhe use for other meta comps like tazer on second half, or xingqiu dependent unit like hutao.
@@konokhda It's not like you can use Xiangling to her max potential without Bennett. You can use Bennett without Xiangling, but you cannot maximize Xiangling without Bennett. So saying that he takes both Xiangling and Bennett is not a good excuse when both are typically stapled to each other, even in a Raiden comp. Also Kazuha is just an optional extra who improves the team and covers the lack of CC. He is not required unless it's for competitive content like speedrunning.
You can put Sucrose with VV+TTDS or Albedo 4 Archaic (with Freedom Sworn if you have it) and the team will work just fine.
@@konokhda kazuha isnt a must in international, while he is the most optimal option he is hardly irreplaceable, literally anyone can take his spot and do a good job, fischl, albedo, sucrose, hell even kaeya or rosario to freeze.

sucrose can only swirl one element between hydro and pyro, when Kazuha can swirl both at the same take to make Childe not only an enabler but the second dps in the team. thats why this team suddenly became way more relevant after kazuha came out

Actually for the team who developed Childe went through quite a lot of martial arts education to get that fighting style childe have right now, they work extremely hard for childe as he is the only dual stance character in the game. Whenever the production team of childe gets interviewed, you can see the pride shining from their eyes. Maybe this is why Mihoyo is promoting childe this much as to give him a third rerun.
Childe is honestly my favorite character lol, I think his stance change is the most fun in the game, he might not be the strongest, but I think he’s one of the most fun. Also I love his character in the story

Raiden-national(Raiden/xiangling/xingqiu/bennet) does not out class international(childe/xiangling/bennet/anemo unit) out side of their niche(heavy bosses that cannot be knocked back by overload).
International does not have energy issues with xiangling as long as you playing right(at least 140 energy energy recharge to 160ish and catch a couple of bennett's E's on xiangling).
Thing is with raiden in the team instead of childe, you dont even have to worry about catching the couple of E's, its just continuously cycling bursts

In the English version, Childe, when saying "the weak," refers to his subordinates and how useless they are compare to him who's almighty and worthy of being in this world.
In the Chinese/Japanese versions, Childe refers to the people of Liyue. He has stated that the best part about being a Harbinger is the fights, he doesn't like the deceptive and manipulative things Harbingers do, instead, he likes to run head first for the fight. That's why he never intended to kill the MC, just to fight him. The people of Liyue cannot put up a fight, hence, he doesn't like the idea of involving them in the conflict.
Basically, the Chinese/Japanese versions suggests that Childe never wanted to bring harm to the people of Liyue, he has to do what he did because he has to do it. The English version suggests that he's someone who doesn't care about his subordinates and views everyone and everything else as trash, and that this world is only fit for "strong people" like himself to live in, hence, he feels no hesitation to summoning the god and destroying Liyue, which makes this version of him psychotic and egotistic.

I mean, the reason why people use Childe rather than Xingqiu on the international team, is because Childe also have a good chunk on AoE, especially if he have Viridescent Hunt, or Kazuha have a good E placement. Xingqiu's mostly single-dps only, that's kinda why people still say Childe is better than Xingqiu. Also Childe's hydro application is kinda unparalleled, having riptide and fast attack speed, making his hydro application is better than everyone else (well hydro-application wise, but other factor like duration, xingqiu and kokomi is still abit better)
Exactly, Childe is much better against multiple enemies while also dealing a large amount of damage and hydro application. I don't think xingqiu can replace that. Also his E cooldown shouldn't even be a problem at all once you have a team with good rotations. But alas what can you expect from someone who hates the character and doesn't do enough research on him. I'd recommend Zy0x's new video on Childe to anyone interested instead.

It's called "International" comp. Because Childe, Xiangling, Kazuha and Bennet are from different region. It's also one of, If not the best Team in general which is best at any situation. The other competitive teams are Morgana and Tazer sucrose. All of this requires your team to be somewhat mid investment, But the payoff is very good that it's worth it. The only true hypercarry that doesn't depends on anyone is Xiao. To whales childe might not be good, because his cons doesn't match up the value of the money they've spend. But to low spenders and F2P, Childe is arguably the most valuable unit to have. Trust me, I used to hate him as well, but he's so good I just can't hate him.

International team is definitely not the best "general team". It's the best racing team because it has insane frontloaded damage. But it lacks sustained damage and survivability. Hence why Raiden National is almost a direct upgrade, and is the most used team comp in abyss.

Skyward harps passive is pretty much 0 dmg increase on childe while pulse adds on r1 +20% atk, and with 3 stacks +48% NA dmg. That NA damage increase is huge. You also get way more crit stat from thundering pulse than from skyward harp because in genshin, crit rate : crit damage is 1:2. So if thundering pulse provides 60% crit damage, Harp should provide 30% crit rate but it does not. Sure, it has +20% crit damage in the passive but that still only equals to 30:60 crit stat while pulse also has it's 20% atk bonus on top and the massive NA boost.
There is no reality where skyward harp is better than pulse, on childe.
And for additional info, the new bow that's supposed to come alongside childe's rerun has a dps increase of around +3% over the thundering pulse. That's only for the burst and for his normal attacks it provides no dmg increase.
I have a spreadsheet I can provide where each dmg calculation between Polar star vs Thundering pulse is shown with each refinements if you don't believe me.
Yknow what? I personally have grown to like childe a lot throughout the months. I didn't even want him on his first rerun and got him in one ten pull by accident. But I can definitely see why people wouldn't like him as a character.
There are just so many misunderstanding about Childe. I personality hate Raiden a lot more than many of my friends, but at the end of the day, I figured that not all the bad actions determine whether a character is justice or not, there are reaons behind that force them to do something un-humanity. Also this feels out dated as you didnt mention his thundering pulse bow it's the strongest bow for childe at the moment, and he also doesn't need a team to be good a well built childe can easily hit upwards of 8k to 10k without a team with good enough artifacts (not recommended)

I think sometimes people don’t realise that there are lots of people starting the game every day and miss out on these great characters that they would have really wanted because they were limited. This is me with tartaglia for example, I started in version 1.6 and ever since not a single character except kazuha which I couldn’t afford since I just started interested me. I saw tartaglia in the story and fell in love with his character, then I played him in the hyukkin ikki event as he was one of the trial characters and loved his move set. I was very sad though because I knew it was very unlikely he would get a 3rd rerun, but when I saw he was getting a rerun in 2.2 I was so happy. I now have him c1, level 90, and god artifacts and I’m so happy with him.

Even then its slower, just hilariously more convenient and low effort. Super comfy.

Childe can also be paired with Beidou, Fischl as Electro charge team, paired with Bennett, Kazuha/ Sucrose, Venti to one shot the Viridescent domain or the first part of 12- 1 or freeze team. Matter of fact Childe has the most team comps of all. Meanwhile Ganyu stuck to death with Morgana, Xiao is extremely picky in term of support, Eula only uses super conduct,...and you gave them a pass. You didn't mention his quadratic scaling. I know this is late but I wanted to say that at least anywhere to express how I'm tired of seeing misleading information about this character from the people who overpraising him. Well, to be fair there is a lot misleading information about characters but I saw the most about Childe because there are always hot discussions when this character is mentioned.
It's so nice from you to mention Thundering pulse, yes, one of the best if not the best bow in the game which you can get by giving up your soul and kidney just in case the first one isn't enough :D If character is good, then It's not important what weapon you will use.
Good luck in electro-charged teams without highly-invested characters though. I tried Childe with Beidou which people overpraising till today but not only I lost in Beidou dps but also Childe couldn't do at least decent numbers. Rosaria, Xingqiu, Xiangling in different teams did better with worse builds that I got during one or two weeks than my Childe until I completely gave up on him after months of worthless attempts to get at least something from him.
Also he isn't the only character who can one-shot things and deal big numbers, I saw how Xingqiu one-shoted pyro cube, lvl1 Yanfei did idioticaly big damage that one-shoted cryo flower just because reactions were very strong. It's irrelevant and forced point to make Childe better in that role because it's possible even for Amber to reach big numbers constantly if she has really strong build and team, same goes for almost every character and Childe isn't special here. He can be special because you might like how he does this job with his mechanics, playstyle etc. Also Raiden isn't fair comparison because electro doesn't have an element with which it can deal equal to melt/vape reaction, yet she still can do pretty good damage while being just a support character with worst element in the game.
Who said that Ganyu is stucked with Morgana if you can put her in melt comps for example? Seriously I'm not a Ganyu fan and don't even have her but the amount of teams in which you can fit the character is tied with your imagination and creativity because this game is pretty flexible even though some team comps are surely more comfortable to use.
Xiao isn't picky, he just didn't get the things that other characters have, yet he still can compete with them while being far from his true potential.
The final thing is about IWTL not liking Childe but liking Raiden. Don't see double standarts at all. To be fair both characters are completely different. Why you even compared them and mentioned it in your comment I don't know.
If you want to make something misleading and prove your point please at least try to be more flexible in your arguments. Thundering pulse isn't the strong and valuable point to convince people to pull for a character🥴
I saw a lot of people overpraising Childe, saying how hard and complex he is (whis is wrong, both of this terms aren't fit Genshin) but not only they didn't mentioned his role but they didn't even said about how he should be built in terms of investment. And it should be mentioned because understanding how resin-efficient and worthile the character you want to build is very important at least in terms of how long you will enjoy the game.
i disagree with the take "childe needs the best 4 stars with him". Yes he requires xiangling , beidou and bennett to be competitive. But isnt that also true for other varations of the national team ? The original national team with xingqiu, bennett, xiangling, maybe sucrose. Takes up 3 or 4 of the best 4 stars in the game to be good! Plus childe can do what xingqiu lacks, AoE hydro application and a huge nuke!
Other than that, i agree with most of your points about childes weaknesses. Good video!

There's a name in his dialogues that I can't remember now, but I'm pretty sure he learned Raging Tide from an abyss herald-type of being, and beating her is one of his goals. All of this at like 14, then he joined the russian mafia.

@@thecrazyremy He literally fell into the abyss, the place that corrupts dragons, poisons archons, spawns monsters and turns the Aether/Lumine evil. All of the evils that caused the end of Khaenreah might be from there as well. All of that at 14.
If you discovered interdimensional travel, got stuck in the source of evil of the world, then met and learned cursed techniques from an interdimensional human/mutated khaenreean thing/whatever Childe's master actually was, you'd lose a few screws on your head as well. He spent months there, then came back and only days had passed, just to hammer home how much of a mindfuck it was for him.

I still don't know why having 3 of the best support is a negative while National team literally makes you use 4 of the best support in the game, making your second team more restricted than Childe comp
During the time that National team was introduced into meta, most playerbase only have one or two 5* and thus having four 4* clearing second team abyss is valuable and liberating, so that initial sentiment still lingers until today. Plus, they're all 4* so it's easier to get and build them. But a 5* dependency to the 3 best support in the game are seen as restrictive when there are other 5* that doesn't demand as much to perform at their best.
@@daisyllow8647 forgivable if the team dps ceiling is high af. Look, in reality nobody is protesting that Childe's best team has the three best supports coz it's a top-tier team, actually probably the best AOE team out there.
However, when Yoimiya demanded 3 top-tier supports too, people kept saying it's a dps being hard-carried by her supports.
It's already 2.2 yet Childe team is still meta. Metaslaves from CN *cough* acknowledged that Hutao team and Raiden team are the best for single target while Morgana (and variations) and Childe teams are the best for AOE content.
@@daisyllow8647 pretty much all team comp need those supports thou. People going for National team is pretty much a matter having a restricted character pool rather than a liberating one.
@@daisyllow8647 The fact that freeze Ganyu comps use at least 3 5* doesn't seem to bother much and didn't prevent it to be the most popular team for a time tho. You even have a full premium variant by replacing Diona by Ayaka. And that team still get away with it.
From my point of view, the so called national team (really dislike this name) even in its vanilla form with only 4* is much more problematic as it has high chance to cause conflict when you need 2 teams. The national teams enters in conflict with reverse-melt Ganyu, Diluc, Hu Tao, any comps that use Bennett. That's probably about 90% of the current meta teams.
@@justamoogle5268 Tbh, I think all DPS are better with supports so I'm not rlly into debating the technicalities of team comps. You were asking why 4 supports in national team are seen as a good thing compared to when 5* needed the 4*, and I believe that's the reason why. Because at tht time being able to clear abyss with just 4* supports are something celebrated within the community since not everyone have enough 5* to go around. That sentiment lingers, that's all.

There is a miss translation with childe story. Childe didn't want to bring harm to any innocent people. It was Zhongli who pushed him to do so. Zhongli was ready to put innocent PPL in harm.
Childe is loved in CN and JP cuz they have correct story about. In EN translator messed up.
As someone who managed to get C1 Childe somehow, I'm one of those 31% who still uses him(I use him with Ei tho)
Childe is hands down one of the best and most useful characters you can have in your roster. It’s great that you mention one team and the fact Xingqui can replace him in it, but you need two teams for abyss and one of the biggest Childe’s strengths is literally that he frees Xingqui. Hydro enablers are super useful and scarce, that’s why Childe’s good.
This man clearly hates male Dps oriented characters, look at all the Childe, Diluc and Xiao in every video, it's starting to get really annoying. This man is all rainbows and sunshine with mary sue overhyped waifus. In this video, you didn't even mention his passives.

Yeah it makes me kinda sad :') I mean, everyone is free to have their own preferences but he is soo vocal about hating on dps male characters it's getting old...I get it, he has preferences but I think it's pretty clear at this point, no need to mention it every single video ;-; other RUclipsrs have characters they don't love but aren't telling us everyday about it...
He's not the only one who's down on Diluc, that's a common sentiment in the community these days. Also, what reason would he have to single out male DPS characters specifically? He routinely sings the praises of the male support characters and uses them in damn near every video. Maybe he just doesn't think they're that good

We can all have our opinions, but what annoys me is when people misinterpret a character and then hate on them because of that. Also the fact that the same people that hate childe, love raiden shogun. Pick a side, both are characters with good intentions that have killed innocent. Just because one is a "waifu" doesn't make it any better.
