This comment is for those thinking about updating their Flex's Nav map database. My Flex is an 2009, that I it bought new in December 2008. I updated once to v5.0 around 2012 and just updated to v11.0 on 1/2/23. I realize this video is 3 yeas old, but my info might help since as of this date, it is recent. Yes, the application disc1 did take 20 minutes to load, but disc 2 wasn't needed, so no time taken there. For the map update, the manual does say 3 hours to download, but that's not quite accurate. After you have downloaded over 5% of disc 1, you can turn your Flex off. That's what I did and went in for the night. When I came out the next day to run some errands, I was expecting the update to pick up where I turned the car off. But, even my '09 Flex was smart enough to keep downloading, even with the car off and me inside my house. Nice!! No 3 hour idle or leaving the power on required. When I started the car, the screen said install Disc 2. And, Disc 2 finished loading about the time it took for my 10 mile drive to town. Easy as can be. Also, this is the last update Ford is putting out (according to the website) for this version Nav system, so when these are gone you'll be out of luck getting a new update. And remember, it's a "map update", so no new bells and whistles or Dancing Girls, just new roads, exits, etc. It's like buying a new Road Atlas, it's going to "look" just like a 10 year old Road Atlas, but inside, it's "updated". So, for me, it's well worth the $150 to have the latest, and last, Nav update. It sure didn't require all the drama I saw in this video (and Eco, I do enjoy your videos, but that drama in this one, Dude...seriously! LOL).
I am also crying, wasting my money on the update. I found out after the upgrade, that traffic was not calculated because my 2011 Flex was to old to support any update for traffic period.
Update is 2023. 2019 was the last year Update for a gen1 flex. You can order them from ford- while supplies last.
Thank you for making this video
Saved me $150 Thank You!
There's no way this needs to be $150.

Hi there...were can I find the license key? Inside the manual ?
I don't recall of the top of my head- but I think it was in an email that is sent when you purchase the update.
@@EcoBelkin thank you
Lol I don’t want to idle :)
I just updated mine, it does take up to 3 hrs, but after 5% you can turn it iff,, and it will continue updating. It does say that on instructions.
What a cry baby
