Am I the only one who is impressed that Phoebus managed to catch Quasimodo and pull him to safety without going over the edge or injuring himself? Dude is strong AF
Let's say Quasimoto weighs roughly 200lbs and is falling at near terminal velocity when he was caught. I would expect at minimum torn muscles and broken bones in the one who caught him. :-/ But I am not a medical expert.
And Quasimodo's heavier than he looks. He eats minimally, exercises with parkour and ringing those massive bells everyday, and sleeps well. He only looks a little chubby, he's ALL muscle!
Yes and no. The world is cruel. Outside of civilization, one wrong step can spell certain death. Without our tools we can easily become some predators next meal. Heck even with the proper tools we can still die in this world. Injury will lead to infection if not treated. Diseases. Poisonous plants. And DONT get me started on some of the herbivores. Here in Maine, you are more likely to get killed by a moose than in a regular car accident. Even whitetail deer can be dangerous. Humans are a very cruel species. But you kinda have to be in the cruel world we live in.
Keep in mind how the gargoyles did not intervene at all throughout the fight rather than helping Quasimodo. Saving Esmerelda all by himself implies that he was being his own person. The gargoyles were only alive to represent his subconscious being active.
And people hate on the Gargoyles when they didn't realize they're important to his psyche. Think about it, he never talked to anyone other than Frollo and possibly the Archdeacon until he snuck away to the festival of fools. The Gargoyles are the ones he possibly created himself. We saw he sculpt things as a hobby, so he most likely sculpt the Statues too. Sure, we only saw him sculpt things made of wood, but given his age and knowing he lives in Notre Dame all his life, let alone his strength usually gained from ringing groups of bells everyday, it's possible he sculpted all 3 Gargoyles from scratch. Point being, the Gargoyles are more important than some realize because whenever Quasimodo is by himself, they're the only time they're active, meaning he most likely moved them around while imagining they can move by themselves.
I just realised that when Frollo was dangling, Quasi was holding on to him. He could have just let go and Frollo would have fallen doe his death but he didn’t. This shows the kindness that Quasi had…I think on some level he did love Frollo. Unfortunately though he wouldn’t turn from his bad ways. And basically when he fell, he did it to himself by hitting that gargoyle.
I agree with you, but when the gargoyle comes to life in front of his eyes, I think it was the creators saying that Notre Dame and God himself were basically telling Frollo the exact same thing he had just said. "And he shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the fiery pit."
There's an interpretation out there that Quasi actually slammed the gargoyle with his fist to make Frollo fall. That would explain how he grew even more exhausted. After all, if the friendly, living gargoyles were figments of his imagination, then perhaps this fierce, gothic gargoyle roaring at Frollo was, too. It could have been a way for him to absolve himself of his conscience for having killed his former father-figure. Having said all that, he was totally justified, of course, in trying to save himself and Esmeralda. Frollo had gone off the deep end, to say the least, and he needed to be defeated.
Well you got to remember the Frollo is weak because of the extreme temperatures and fumes from the molten lead he was like 2 feet from. Also, Quasimoto is strong enough to rip down solid stone pillars that he is chained up to. He has almost herculean strength.
Quasimodo rang the bells for 20 years everyday 2 or 3 times so he would build alot of strength from that and Frollo is a politician so he wouldn't be working out. 😂😂😂
He dropped it only when he knew Esmerelda survived. Had Esmerelda gone into a coma or died, Quasimodo might have acted differently due to not having anything to lose.
We all saw Quasimodo almost ragdoll Phoebus and pull those massive pillars loose earlier. With that kind of strength, he seriously could've messed Frollo up if he were a little less kind and Frollo didn't have him under his thumb all those years.
@@Amatsu_storm_approach But ... he wasn't, though. The only reason Quasi didn't tear Frollo from limb to limb was because he was emotionally under Frollo's thumb.

They've tried to get one going twice, the first attempt ended when the actor cast to play Frollo tragically died and the second one was put off due to the Notre Dame fire as the creative team was planning to actually film the movie inside the cathedral, something I believe would have been a first in cinematic history as all prior live-action adaptations of Victor Hugo's novel used studio set imitations instead.
