  • The Long Summer (1993) was a six-part series on Britain between the wars narrated by Alan Bennett. In this episode, entitled 'The Facts', the work of a generation of writers, journalists, photographers, artists and filmmakers who set out to document what they believed to be the facts about life in industrial Britain is examined.
    Includes references to: J.B.Priestly, Bill Brandt, George Orwell, John and Ruby Grierson, the influence of Soviet film, Mass Observation, Tom Harrison, Humphrey Spender, William Coldstream, Graham Bell, Julian Trevelyan, Arthur Elton, Edgar Anstey, BBC regional broadcasting, Olive Shapley, Humphrey Jennings.
