- Thousands of Lebanese civilians are returning to their destroyed homes, hours after a ceasefire between Israel and the Iran-back armed group Hezbollah came into effect.
Traffic jams built up on the main highway out of Beirut to southern Lebanon as people queued up to return home.
Many were seen waving Hezbollah flags and posters showing the group's deceased former leader Hassan Nasrallah.
The US-brokered ceasefire has put a temporary end to nearly 14 months of conflict that intensified when Israel launched a ground invasion against Hezbollah in October.

This is very interesting, Lebanese upon hearing the news are slowly going back, while Israelis are still cautious about going back.
This actually shows that Lebanese trusts that Israelis will not unilaterally break the ceasefire, while Israelis know better than to trust Hzbollah to keep to their word.
Well for starters the Israeli's are a national state and Hezbollah are a terrorist organization. So one has more credibility than the other right out of the box.

@@ALIKN1-1 I believe the attacks on Northern Israel were mainly from Lebanon, though. The threat from Gaza has been much reduced especially by the recent operations in Northern Gaza which are a lot more thorough and planful than in the beginning. The West Bank is more or less under control at present.

The IDF Spokesperson's Office reports that four suspects who approached Israeli troops were detained today, November 27, after the ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon came into effect.
"The detainees are being interrogated on the spot," the IDF said in a statement.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office later reported: "The IDF arrested four Hezbollah operatives, including a local commander, who entered the forbidden zone. The IDF will continue to strictly prevent any violations."
According to a high-ranking American official, Israeli troops will initially take up their positions at the beginning of the 60-day period. The gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops will begin only when soldiers of the Lebanese army begin to be stationed in the south of Lebanon, in order to prevent the formation of a vacuum in the interim period. "It's a process that can't happen overnight or for a few days."
At the same time, it is clarified that this does not mean that the withdrawal of troops will begin only after 60 days. "Sooner, by the time we reach the deadline of 50 to 60 days, all the Israeli troops will be withdrawn... In the first couple of weeks, you will already begin to see how some of these units leave."
