Cindy Crawford and I share the same birthday! We had a similar experience growing up (class of 1996). I still look at CBK and the 90s minimalism as my guiding light of style. Simple, chic, and timeless has been my aesthetic.
Hello! Oh you're twinning with Cindy!!! so cool. I think that is wonderful to find an aesthetic so you and stick with it. I was all over the place, and sometimes think I still am :) It's very chic and timeless indeed! Thank you for watching!
I was also a 90s girl, but wasn’t into fashion… now you made me realize with this great video how much of my current style is a throwback to that era!!! Thank you!
Oh I'm so glad you resonated with this video! Honestly I lived through the 90's but for the most part had an alternative style. It's not until my more mature years that I have really grown an appreciation for minimalism. However I'll always be a maximalist :) Thanks so much for watching!!!
Great video Maria! My oldest daughter was born in 1990 and so the 90s are a blur of raising young children and being more concerned with their outfits than mine most of the time 😂 so I don’t think I was as fashion-aware during that decade as most others! So this was very fun to watch. I do remember copying Linda Evangelista’s hairstyles and being wowed by Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
Hi Karen! Thank you for sharing. I can relate as some of my mid 90's years were a blur too as I was busy for 4 years buried in my college books so I can hardly remember if I really followed fashion, ha ha. And it's funny how few photos I have of myself back then - pre cell phone era. So glad you pay attention to fashion now and thank you for being here!!! obsessed with linda's hair - she was such a chameleon!
Loved the 90’s looks. I worked in corporate during the 90’s and my style still has a 90’s minimalist vibe. My favorite part of the video was the way your eyes lit up when you talked about your husband. So cute!
Aww thank you, yes I still have such a crush on him to this day :) It's funny I never put together that today's popular capsule wardrobe basics are quintessential 90's minimalism style. It's certainly timeless! and very chic. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch! xo
Hi Claudia, I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. It was so much fun to collect all these old images. I've really come to appreciate this aesthetic for it's classic timeless and effortless feel. thank you for watching!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Yes it was a great deal of work but I learned so much in the process and it was well worth the time. Thank you a ton for watching and thank you for your kind comment! xo
Hi Julia! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video! It's funny how few photos I have pre-cell phone era! Yes, I still love listening to my grunge music, ha ha. Great to see you and hope you are well.
Really enjoyed this video and the photos of your school days! I really love you in the dark hair by the way. I definitely grew up in that era and these looks definitely resonate with me!
I always love watching your beautiful videos as I love your style so much ❤. I definitely love the black satin slip dress so much-You look absolutely stunning in everything 🥰😘
Hi Maria, you really did capture the 90’s style. Didn’t you just love Carolyn Bessett Kennedy’s wedding gown. So simple, yet elegant.still love Sarah Jessica Parker’s style along with Ralph Lauren.❤ Joann
Hi Joann, yes 100% CBK's dress was stunning. If I could get away with a dress like that, I would have. I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching! xo
Hi Maria! I was getting ready to get married in 1992 but I did love fashion then and I did work so it was so much fun to dress then… It is by far my favorite style of clothing, and I’m so so glad it’s back in… But I was gonna say in that first picture you show of us With the black necklace choker on you look like somebody famous and I’m gonna try to figure out who it is, gals, can you help me? Oh my goodness I can’t figure out who it is! You were so beautiful and you still are! oh my goodness.
Hi Lisa! I'm so grateful you enjoyed this video. Thank you for watching! I appreciate this 90's minimaliism so much more now than back then. It's classic, timeless, and the source of many capsules nowadays. i'm so curious who you thought I looked like??? You are so kind. I am so thankful to have you here. xoxo
Hi Betty, my jeans are old but I do own the mango jeans and I love them. I’m between sizes but I went with a us4 for a snug fit. I expect them to relax over time. The H&M looks great and I know from past experience that they are a good fit but I don’t own those. Thanks for your question
As a 90’s girl I guess this is why all the ruffles and extra details were just annoying for so long. Lol. Didn’t really think of it as “minimalism” but I guess it makes sense…
@@MariaNicoleStyle it was definitely stripped back- a lot of black and white, way less color, make up on lips and eyes, no blush!!!! Slip dresses s you mentioned- simple simple simple!! Very less is more. Lol

Love that 90s style! I think Sade kicked it off in the late 80s.
I love Sade! Yes she was so chic!

Yes! I've definitely learned to appreciate her style. xo
Love the strolll down the 90s memory lane. You nailed every look and brought a 90s into the 20s❤
Hi Potoula, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to flashback!

Was it Neve Campbell?! 🧐🙃
OMG! What a wonderful trip down 1990s memory lane. Michael Kors....before he watered down his brand😢
Oh it was so fun collecting all these images!!!! rekindled my obsession with supermodels :) XO
Interesting that many trends now are from Carrie Bradshaw: short short shorts, short capris, ballet skirts.
oh totally! It was fun to look back at her looks! I adore that maximalist style! totally opposite from 90's minimalism :) thank you for watching.
10:19 I think your black blazer is perfect
Aww thank you! I appreciate that. I do want to find a less oversized one as a second option. XO thank you for watching!
@@MariaNicoleStyle it says 90s to me and I graduated HS in 93!! 👍
Do you have the Mango jeans on or the H&M in the video?

Yes! makes total sense. I guess there wasn't a label on it at the time but now decades later it's been given a name :) xo
