Diet Tom´s Diatoms! Hey! I see that your channel is growing, congratulations!
You have one of the best content when it comes to illumination techniques. You gave me that cool idea about the darkfield with just paper. Haha, it worked incredibly!

My goal is to find one of these. In the mean time, I am enjoying the journey of looking at amazing things.

      Check out this guide: www.metrofieldguide.com/how-to-find-tardigrades/
I've never found a tardigrade just by chance, but they're all over the place in tree moss. Do your best to shake off any dirt beforehand - it makes seeing them in the dish a lot easier. A stereoscope or even just a magnifying glass helps a lot.

Hi Mikel from Lebanon a microscope hobbyist for many years and until now i have not found a Tardigrade

Hi Mikel, to find tardigrades you want to soak tree moss and lichens for a few hours, squeeze them out into a small dish, and then search the bottom of the dish for tardigrades. A stereoscope or strong magnifying glass is helpful. See this website for more details: microcosmos.foldscope.com/?p=17901

Does polarization naturally create that dark blue background? I've been using polarization using two circular camera polarizers

In theory two crossed polarizers should block all light leaving a black background. However the polymer film that most polarizers use loses efficiency at shorter wavelengths leading to the blue light leakage you see.

@@diettoms Do you use CPL (camera polarizers) or polarizing film?

@@Ardeact Just polarizing film from off amazon

@@diettoms you should try using lens, if you still don’t get solid black you can use darkfield in conjunction, it proves stunning results
