He had that classic "umm" that Prince uses in interviews when he's gathering his words. Can't find any interview where he didn't do that at some point.
As if I needed another reason to love Prince, he said teachers deserve to be paid more! Imagine how much more rare footage there'll be in the upcoming Netflix documentary.
Peace, his dad was from the south (Louisiana). His (Prince's) accent isn't hard to believe. The footage of him is AMAZING. #RememberedInPerfection 🌹👑Who would've known that he'd grow to be the GIANT we all love? 👍🏽📌
You’re a true fan. By the way, what may sound a little bit like a southern accent, is just a sort of very casual style of talking among many neighborhood kids in the north at that time.
One thing that always got me wondering was how did he learn to sing so well. Like people forget his range is 5 octaves, you don’t get that from just “ natural” talent. We’ve always known how Stevie, Gaye, MJ, and James brown learned to sing but We never heard how Prince learned how to sing.
I'm guessing he was mainly self taught. His mother knew how to sing and music departments in Minneapolis schools were robust in this era. He was open to learning from other musicians/singers that he respected. Real geniuses are just different.
I grew up with the brother and will be speaking in downtown Minneapolis on Oct 22nd. I’ll share some stories including how Prince learned how to sing and forming our first band. I was standing next to my little cousin in the video when he was 11 and I was 13 years old in front of our school. Peace- #Justice4cuz
His mannerisms were exactly the same … the way he says “um….” And how intelligent did he sound for so young. The way he moves his mouth and he moves his face away whilst smiling and giggling
I definitely teared up with love and nostalgia and regret that he’s no longer with us and happiness at getting this glimpse into his formative years … all at once! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Prince Cousin went to JSU...met him around 1998.....I didn't believe him at 1st....so he showed me his Photo Album...& there was Prince sitting at their table at Thanksgiving lol.....& Prince Cousin?? He's from Louisiana....💯🎵☔🎵
He says… “Um… i think they should get a better education too cause…um… and i think they should get some more money too because they be working extra hours for us and all that stuff…” awwwww so adorable and wow he is literally the same!!!
whats crazy is that to was an accidental find.. I will lirerally intern for the city of Minneapolis and comb through the archives for hidden prince clips for the culture
Even as a little kid, P had so much swaaag!
I can't wait to see a cut away clip of him saying "yeup" in future videos when an affirmative is required. 😂💜
He had that classic "umm" that Prince uses in interviews when he's gathering his words. Can't find any interview where he didn't do that at some point.
Now the next footage we need is him playing Just My Imagination in 1988 with that guitar solo
This video was meant to be seen, call me a mystic but I believe this was prince’s way of saying hello to us.
I totally agree!
Absolutely!
I said the same thing. It was broadcasted close to the anniversary of his death. I believe we’ll hear more from him if we pay attention.

his vocals tended to be electric in some songs, unique like no one else, but in some songs can't really make out what he's saying

@@lavenderbee3611 yeah he just practiced at school

Omg I hope you have a Twitter account because I’ve been looking for more Prince Stans to connect with 😮💨😭‼️
im glad he got to have a normal childhood
The first part of his answer was “I think they should give a better education, too.”
Loool Prince was shady even back then !!!!
His mannerisms were exactly the same … the way he says “um….” And how intelligent did he sound for so young. The way he moves his mouth and he moves his face away whilst smiling and giggling
Made me cry first time i saw the story online, still makes me cry every-single-time I see that video and the reactions from their friends 💜
Nice video. I believe his father and his father’s family are from Louisiana.
I definitely teared up with love and nostalgia and regret that he’s no longer with us and happiness at getting this glimpse into his formative years … all at once! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Dont cry, your making me cry.
Lol I made myself cry when I was editing this!😂
I can totally relate, this so emotional 😭!!!
In Minnesota most black folks migrated from the south. Although many of our friends didn’t have that twang…some did. Miss my old friend. 💜❤️💜
Prince's father was from Louisiana, his maternal grandparents were both from Louisiana. I was surprised too, he was adorable at that age.
Prince Cousin went to JSU...met him around 1998.....I didn't believe him at 1st....so he showed me his Photo Album...& there was Prince sitting at their table at Thanksgiving lol.....& Prince Cousin?? He's from Louisiana....💯🎵☔🎵
Well that's Prince he was a musical genius. He was a little boy at the time with his intelligence. We will greatly miss him RIP Prince

Would love to see that Grand Central clip posted if possible. 😉 Never knew it existed!
His family originated from Louisiana, I bet there could be a bit Southern accent left in there.
All his family was from Louisiana. That would explain the twang
“I think they should get a better education too.”
