Great reaction! I know some Elvis fans have rejected this film out of hand, saying Austin Butler doesn't look like Elvis and that there will be inaccuracies in it. Personally I think they are missing the point; this film will be like an Impressionist painting, not a photograph, showing the impact that Elvis had on the World. We know no one can replace him and he is forever in our hearts but this will bring the man and the music to the next generation and I can't wait to see it. Love from the UK.
Speaking from a today perspective it's hard for me to know Elvis thought he'd be forgotten. He is ingrained in our culture. I call them Elvis sightings when someone in a movie mentions his name, when you see his picture in a background, a commercial with him or his music, a new statue erected in his honor or even his lip curl duplicated. I'd you look for it he is everywhere even amongst people who want to abolish him. He is not forgotten and never will be
Elvis is going to be a smash hit!!!!!!! Since 1977. 3 generations of Elvis fans and going strong. Elvis sells more records now than ever and has toured all across North America and Europe. 😻⚡️⚡️
What I love about this film is that they did not shy away or downplay the fact that a lot of Elvis influences came from black artists or the black church. They leaned into that idea and showed not just the story of Elvis but how the struggle for racial equality and current events of the time impacted his life. They also highlighted the fact that because Elvis was white, he was accepted far easier than black artists who were doing the same thing at the time. This movie had so many layers and it was really well done.
I'm so looking forward to this movie, Elvis deserves it , the lightning bolt tie is a reference to Elvis loving superhero comics and him wanting to be one , there's going to be lots of symbolisms In this movie. Baz the director at the start you should have listened to him I feel he's really respected Elvis and his fans. The attention to detail is phenomenal, even down to the people in the audience wearing the exact clothes, also check when Elvis is in the back of the limo, he has a bandage on his hand, that's factual. Austin I think he looks great as Elvis.....cannot wait xx
Totally agree with you Jo...Quizzy should've watched Baz's introduction...Can't wait to see this movie...been a fan since 1956 when I first heard him and fell in love with his voice...I was 11 years old in Glasgow, Scotland listening to a pal's big brother Eddie's 78rpm record collection...Eddie worked in the shipyards and already had the quiff, the DA and the sideburns...he had all of Elvis's 1956 records, plus Fats Domlno and Bill Haley...RnR knocked me for six and I was instantly a fan...still am, but Elvis's voice is still the voice I listen to more than any other...I also think Quizzy should watch the Yt interview between Baz and Sam Bell, Elvis's childhood friend in Tupelo...it explains a lot about how Elvis was later in life...And again you're totally right, Elvis deserves this film......Roll on June 24th!!!!
@@davidsandz2186 that's a brilliant insight how you were introduced to Elvis. My parents were the same think mum was 13 at the time and dad would have been 16, both were lifetime fans and passed that on to us girls, I'm the youngest but I'm definitely the one who obsessed with Elvis from an early age .I'm looking forward this movie too
Great hopes for this movie ... whole new generations will be introduced to this man's artistry and humanity !! Those of us who grew up with him welcome this new look at his legacy !! Thanks Quizzy !
Dude, Fabulous reaction. I’ve been watching dozens and dozens of these Elvis reactions, and yours is the first one to get a new thumbs up from me; your joy, enthusiasm, curiosity and honesty are infectious. Keep doing what you’re doing, man. This film may change a lot of minds about Elvis and his journey. He was stunning and sensitive artist, who was trapped by the times he lived in and some of the people around him. Tragic and Unforgettable. Peace.
I’m a Huge Elvis Fan. Saw Him In Concert Twice. No 1 Looks Like Elvis.A lot Of Research Went In To This Movie. Elvis Childhood Friend Sam Bell. From Beginning To Stardom. Movie Is 2 Hours 45 Min. I’ll Give This Movie A Shot.
Can’t wait for this, I’m a huge Elvis fan and I listen to him growing up there was a time where I was told not to touch the Elvis records and then I was caught in my parents bedroom listening to Elvis with all his records around me. I still love him so much to this day
Seems like this movie really tries to capture the “shocking” effect Elvis had on the audience in early 1954-55 when they saw him for the first time. A white kid with long greasy hair, outlandish cloths, gyrating on stage and ripping into raw, black rhythm & blues in front of an all-white audience. It took huge Cojones to do that at the time in segregated America. Respect. White radio stations started burning and breaking his records live on air. Almost impossible today to imagine the impact he had on American culture in the very beginning. Most of the younger generations today only know the cartoonish, Vegas Elvis instead of the “Rebel” who white America called….”The Devil”.
That is true, mostly younger generation today only know the bad elvis they don't know THAT THE REAL ELVIS IS GENUINE, HUMBLE, GENEROUS, KIND HEARTED AND LOVING
ELVIS is back. Looks and sounds great. There's an excitement in the air. June 24th there will be alot of new ELVIS fans. The KING of Rock and Roll. TCB
Great reaction, saw the film last week, it was fantastic and well worth seeing. Austin Butler for sure captured the essence of Elvis, I cant wait to buy the dvd now.
I have never loved a movie like I love this one. Austin Butler (Elvis Presley) was true, honest and real in his portrayal as Elvis. I hope he gets an Oscar. Tom Hanks (Col. Tom Parker) played the perfect wormy, dictator-like manager. The movie is a must see for any Elvis fan. Side Note:The lightning bolt around his neck was supposed to represent his favorite comic book character, Capt. Marvel Jr.
Elvis was so close with black community and he always defended them, because he actually learned everything from them and that's the "it has everything to do with us" comes from. So much respect for him. Also it's Butler who is singing when he was younger wich is crazy, but the older ones are Elvis himself lip synced.
Jane H commenting ….. I became an Elvis fan when I was 15 in 1967, & at 72 I am still a big Elvis fan. Other singers & groups have come & gone through the decades, but Elvis are remained. I saw this movie about 3 weeks ago & I actually loved it. I thought Austin Butler played an excellent role as Elvis, & the film covered the early turmoil of Elvis’ career, time in the army in Germany, then his Comeback Special in 68, his marriage to Priscilla, Lisa Marie, his divorce, & then his death, which was handled very delicately, & the subsequent grief of his fans which followed … & included a clip of Elvis himself playing Unchained Melody in his last concert two months before his death in 1977. I thought Austin Butler had a reasonable resemblance & certainly his singing voice was close & his dance moves could not be faulted. As a fan of Elvis from 1967 right up to now, this movie brought Elvis back to life for me & it has certainly sparked a massive resurgence in a new generation, wanting to get to know Elvis & his music. I think Elvis himself would have approved. Of course, Austin is an actor, but like Elvis, Austin threw everything he had into his portrayal of Elvis, wanting to honour & respect the great man he was portraying. He isn’t Elvis …. Who could ever be Elvis other than Elvis himself …. But I thought he did an excellent piece of acting. And now I can go back to enjoying my real Elvis concerts, having enjoyed seeing the life of Elvis portrayed so well. Both Priscilla & Lisa Marie gave this movie the thumbs up. Lisa Marie did Not give the thumbs up for the movie Priscilla & was angry & vocal about the way her father had been portrayed. Out of respect for Elvis & for Lisa Marie, I will not be watching Priscilla.
Looks great can't wait to see it. That lightning bolt was from comic captain marvel he like to read as a youngster. Thanks for your reaction on this trailer.
Settle down Q. You're out of control. Nah just messing with you. I'm glad you're digging on Elvis. He was one of the coolest people ever. And good looking. Never thought I'd say that but now that I'm getting older its alright. You keep doing what your doing cause its alright. Coming from me thats a big compliment cause I'm a bad man. Lol.
Without the Colonel, we would never have had the Elvis we had. Love him or hate him, Elvis was happy with him and stayed loyal and it absolutely paid off for both of them.
The Director of the movie Elvis actually went to his old neighborhood and interviewed an old friend of Elvis Presley‘s. You got a look it up it’s so amazing. He put it all in the movie
Would like to see a reaction to the friendship of Jackie Wilson and Elvis. Jackie talks about Elvis and Jackie's son Bobby Wilson talks about Elvis. Friends from the 50's onward. Elvis loved Jackie's dance moves and Elvis would have Jackie teach him for different song/dance scenes in Elvis movies. Jackie would say he was the black Elvis and Elvis response was... "I guess that makes me the black Jackie Wilson".
What's up homie, movie looks pretty good to me. Check out Baz Luhrmann interviews Elvis Presley's childhood friend Sam Bell. Sam Bell passed away not long after the interview. It's a shame he didn't get to see the movie of his good friend. I hope your enjoying this 75 degree weather here in St. Louis.
The guy you skipped is the amazing director Baz Lurhmann who made the movie. He directed Moulin Rouge and Romeo And Juliet. The lighting bolt represents Elvis' childhood comic book hero Captain Marvel Jr who had a ⚡ bolt on his chest. It's a centerpiece of the film. The scene of young Elvis is a true story but mislead. It was inspired by Elvis'black childhood friend Sam Bell and his recollection of what it was like back then. Elvis lived in the black community and went to a black church. Baz was quoted as saying "black music and culture is not some side note or a footstep in Elvis' story. It's the canvas". Meaning it's a major part of who he was and became. It has always been seen asless important opposed to white gospel and country music. But now truth will be revealed. And it won't be for everyone. Only those who are willing to accept it with an open mind.
If younger people don’t know who Office is that’s her parents issue because my almost 16-year-old knows exactly who Elvis is and we would sit down and he was a little younger and watch his movies
