I'm in love with theatre because... You get validation with the audience you get reactions that comfort you and motivate you to deliver lines in a way that they will take it well.. You definitely adjust to each audience.. I'm gonna disagree with saying that everything is over the top all the time because sometimes you get really personal with the audience and you are bare just there in front of hundreds of people and staring at them face to face.. Theatre acting is also harder I believe because you can't mess up its all live and that's the beauty of it because not one performance is the same... Maybe the same lines and songs but your character and yourself in that moment are experiencing things you never experienced before... I believe theatre is the most beautiful and hardest form of acting... My opinion
Plus theatre has so much more history involved.. It's so old and historic our ancestors went to the theatre to be entertained they didn't have televisions to sit down and watch tv to keep them entertained instead they went to the theatre to be entertained
I've done theater since I was really little. The over reacting is so spot on. I'd like to do films, though. I feel like films is where my talent would fit most.
Please do a video all about your acting journey like how many classes you took, how you got with agencies, your first booking, just a video all about your career
Great video! For your next video, maybe talk about which acting methods you prefer? They obviously all work for both theatre and film since it's all acting but I know some film actors prefer Meisner over Stanislavsky... What does your coach teach? :D
Last year for my 8th grade play, I was one of the main characters in the play alongside another great actor that had just a little bit less than mine, I had to memorize just a little bit every day and I used all my study halls for the memorizing script. I would get about 3 paragraphs completely memorized and perfect WITH blocking everyday. Also I had other actors with me so we could get a feel for the blocking. This really helps. Now in 9th now I am in a HUUGE production that is for competition and I am 1 out of 3 freshmen that got into it and if say about 15 freshmen tried out and i beat a couple of upper classmen. It's very stressful and intimidating to remember lines especially when we are gonna have to perform 4 or 5 times. And when there are seniors that are much better than you. I hope we win in district and state completion for the play. WISH ME LUCK
Twolf wow. You've succeeded alot😁 btw, do you know if every acting school can lead you to get an agent and be in a real movie? Because I wanna do film acting but I know that I'll take classes from the beginning and do some plays and stuff
My acting foundation is theatre and I find it difficult for me to transfer to film acting because I am so used to high energy level. But I am doing both theatre and films right now so I am learning all the way! :)
Even though everyone seems annoyed with theatre however, theatre is the powerhouse of all drama and there is something about seeing a play live that rattles your inner soul that film can't always do! Don't hate on theatre
I got the notification and I was like PRAISE THE LAWD YES LIFE IS GR8 and then I saw the 20 minute LENGTH and i was like mmmMmMMBEST BELIEVE IMMA WATCH IT ALL BC ACTINGISMYLIFE IS MY LIFE but i love ya guys thank you for your hard work and advice 💘💘
Thank you for explaining this! Every time I talk to my friends (who are non actors) about acting, I always say how I prefer film acting over theatre acting, and they always say "isn't it the same thing?" And I'm like no and then I have to explain all the differences to them😂😅
for my first musical last summer (I was Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz) I had over 200 lines and many many musical numbers to perfect in 2 weeks and it was easier than i thought so good luck! :)
Thanks for posting! Finishing up my first feature film and I am LOVING film acting! Want to try my hand at theater as well, because I love perusing plays, but I am leaning more towards film acting as well. Excellent video! God Bless! :)
Omg u have helped me so much throughout the vids u posted. I wanted to be an actress for a long time. today I have a fashion show and if the judges like me, they will get me a 1 year contract with an agency. before this I had an audition and I used some of ur tips to help me out!! tysm❤❤
I love this Rachel!!! I don't have a lot of experience with acting but in my opinion I think film would be not exactly easier but I think it'd be more fun but that's just me. I hope that one day I can get back into acting, I want to so bad!!!
I was in School House Rock Live!, which is a stage production and we had TWENTY songs. I was in seventeen of them. The dialogue was basically a transition to the next song.
Its about these college students who want to make a film in a mental hospital. I'm playing an extra child. Not the best part but its my first short film! Its coming out next year on youtube red!
Awesomeness101 :0 Wow that sounds really cool! I did Lafayette in Guns and Ships for a Hamilton youth production last weekend, it was really cool! I'd love to see the short film when it comes out :D
Right now I'm in more competitive theatre, but my end goal is film/theatre. I have a few reasons 1. Film is usually more modern and theatre is mostly about things that happened before the 1960's. 2. I feel like ur emotions and acting is more seen in film like u were saying and film you get breaks and reach a larger audience that aren't just teachers, students, family members. U get breaks and u can be better when u aren't going for over 1.5 hours of straight lines. 3. Film is more accessible/mistakes can be undone or redone/more perfected than theater
For some reason I've always like film more than theater like if you're going for Broadway definitely but like for a school play I don't think I would audition
Hi Rachel😀 How many years does it take to be a professional actor /actress and how many years do u have to take classes I took classes for two years one was acting for tv for a year and another year was comedy class is it enough years to get a talent agent? Ily Rachel I watch ur videos and they really help me ALOT 😍😀 hope u reply 😊
You should start researching talent agencies who accept submissions, put some audition reels together and make a channel promoting your work. Make sure you have nice head shots and your resume is together. Subscribe to websites like Backstage to research audition opportunities. Consider researching SAG/AFTRA membership, Making a stable career acting is very difficult and very few people will break into the industry and act on stage or in film for a living. Some people get lucky, others can spend a decade or more auditioning finding agents, taking any work they can until they are recognized and established in a professional network of people, getting regular well paying work. The reality is most aspiring actors will never make a living doing it and end up pursuing a different, regular career. It's incredibly difficult, you have to be willing to sacrifice everything and work 24/7 preparing, auditioning and working an hourly job to support yourself. Pursuing an acting career is a long, constant struggle. A couple out of millions will break into Hollywood. If you want theatre move to NYC, film LA. Stay in classes, put a portfolio of clips and reels together and when you aren't working on anything get involved in community theatre as an easy way to get on stage. Always have monologues and audition material memorized and prepared.
This summer I have a play which is Susical and I HAVE to memorize 7 songs and 20 lines ( not that many lines though) and I have know idea how todo this!!!!
find an area or item that reminds you of your lines. When I memorize lines I pace around my room and remember what is next to me when I say the lines. Or you can just repeat all you lined in order with a friend/sibling to quiz you on them. Hope this helps!
Seussical is one of THE catchiest musicals ever I loved being apart of it, just remember lines are easier to learn when it's fun make it a game or something!!
I played the cat in the hat last year and now I have that whole show memorized😂 you'll find if you listen to it over and over and get through each rehearsal it will just grow on you. It gets easier good luck!!
I just realized she uploaded her video 3 minutes ago😂 I'm a good actress I just wish people would notice me and I'd get to meet all the clue rites and I'd be one to lol I pray so hard about but I do know for a fact I was born to act! It's my passion😊❤️
Hey I know is late maybe u changed phone. But I love acting and I'm 14 my parents don't fully agree but I'm trying to convince them by finding an agent and a good college. Do u have any advice of college please? PS:I live in UK Thanks in advance

Acting for film is haaaaaaard. There are way too many distractions. I prefer theatre by far. You don't get the same adrenaline rush from the build up to going on stage. It's just a bunch of techy stuff :/ I want to make more films and go on to bigger things because film and television is more popular, but I'm definitely a theatre actor. I'm a performer, darling :P
5:47 pause the video haha
its a boom mik
I made a video on this topic as well! I would love if you could watch it to hear my thoughts on the subject as well!
How old are you?
And when did you start acting btw I love your videos
Marlon brando
you look like Emma stone
Wow if these girls are as experienced as they claim to be then they're embarrassing themselves. How about basic acting techniques you learn in any beginning acting class like Stanislavski, Strasberg/method, Meisner, classical etc. Don't call yourselves passionate actors if you don't care to even study the actual craft and its history. Educate yourselves if you really care about improving and developing your skills. You need to be able to discuss acting intelligently and professionally because you never know who you're going meet and what industry professionals might ask you. If somebody asked you about film and theatre and you said things like "On stage you have to be very much louder" , "Emotions are crucial" "the knowledge of acting is just like bum bum bum" "film acting is more practical". Who would take you seriously? I mean come on girls do you really not know what you're talking about or just decided not to try very hard to make an informative acting video.
There making it so regular ordinary people understand what they are saying a*shole
