We cook salmon with mayo as well but we dnt use that small amount. We cut em up vertically about 1.5" in width and throw in a bag/bowl and completely soak in mayo, pretty much marinade em. Add salt and black pepper too and let them marinate 12-24hrs then bake/broil straight out of the marinate in oven, keep skin on and it gets crispy and it's mmmmmm so good

They did not open up the netting season on the river I was at until the 3rd week of June so I can feel your pain.
I was able to catch Dolly Varden trout like crazy using salmon Pixee Spoons while I was waiting.
The sockeye wouldn't hit any lures once they were in spawning mode so I only caught maybe three all summer fishing every saturday afternoon and sundays.
Whenever my spoon would hit the bottom I had a chance at catching a sculpin which had huge spines.

After leaving Alaska we got transferred 1962 to Monterey California where you could take a party boat that would go just outside the harbor and you could fill up gunny sacks full of rockfish. Now days gone it’s a biological desert there. If you want to catch rock fish you have to take an hour and a half boat ride to Big Sur and hope to catch one. Such are the times

In Alaska I heard the salmon have been reduced in population. Back in 1960 to 62 Kodiak the salmon the humpies were so massive that they would pile up on top of each other trying to enter the rivers at the mouth. Lots of silvers and sockeyes I mean the wildlife was just wild literally. I was 12 and 13 years old.

I wish I knew these guys IRL, I looove seafood and i cooked Alaskan sockeye tonight and wanted a video with my dinner! Mine was fresh and tasty, the same as these guys describe "beautiful".
As someone who knows nothing about fishing I'd like to know what you use for bait, how strong you need to be to handle it pulling. The main dude was just wrangling them and I was laughing when he's like "the last one..." so out of breath!
I'm totally astonished to see 3 people catch 18 fish in one hour, I really thought the video would be a long wait but nuts how after what seemed like 1 cast and the line was just pulling! I would also love an educational video on how they scale and fillet them. And to see the red raw insides. I don't get to eat enough seafood here in Alberta and sometimes have to supplement with the pills but I prefer the real deal. I love it so much I only cook them in olive oil and sometimes sprinkle dill and then add a thin layer of water to the bottom of the pan because I like it soft and moist. Then plate & salad.
Totally enjoyed this video, makes me want to learn to fish! Appreciate the effort! 💪
