While you were in the cathedral and I was just admiring all the windows and architecture, a thought came to me.."You think this is cool, just wait until we get to heaven, it's 100 times this awesome." Thank you so much for sharing your trip with us, Barcelona really is magical.
The beauty of the cathedral actually brought me to tears.
It is absolutely breathtaking and Gaudi’s philosophies behind its creation were incredibly meaningful to learn about, as well.
@@BallingerFamily I’ve been to quite a few cathedrals but this one…just breathtaking. Especially the way the light comes thru the stained glass. I will definitely research his philosophies behind the design and architecture.
same!
Incredible photos, thanks for sharing
Hi Ballinger Family! I was wondering what series in Percy Jackson Bailey likes better the first one or second one? Thanks!
Bailey looks so nice in her vintage jacket. She looks like she could be a model.
As an American living in Spain, it’s so cool to see all these things again for the very first time through your eyes. Barcelona is magical and you really captured that. I’m glad this country has a piece of your heart now too!
Omg I think someone proposed around 16:27 that is so sweet!
I saw it too!
can you link all of your backpacks? maybe do an unpacking video when you get home and tell us what you used/didn't use?
10:04 Since I speak Spanish, I'm going to translate "En un lugar de La Mancha" to English so that everyone understands it. That literally means" in a place in La Mancha"(La Mancha is a city in Spain)
Hello Ballinger Fam! I am curious was it difficult to not bring Parker with you on this trip seeing as he is older and usually grouped with Bailey and Jacob. I mean no hate just curious.
Hey Chris. How is it to travel without a baby strapped to your chest😂? I love watching it’s so cool to see places I know I will never go thanks for sharing 💜💜💜💜💜.
Great video! Regarding the parrots you spoke about Bailey...
Seven species of parrot can be found in urban Barcelona. The most common, and what was seen in your video, are the little Monk Parakeets (green with greyish neck/chest). They are also known as the Monk Parrot or Quaker Parrot.
In that park you can also see Rose-ringed Parakeets (all green with red beaks. Males have a pink & black neck ring). They are also known as the Ringneck parrot or the Kramer parrot. :)🦜
The green birds are actually monk parakeets, an invasive species from Argentina that have adapted really well in Spain, and neighbors are very tired of them because they are so noisy and loud!
Wholly Molly 😮that cathedral was breathtakingly beautiful 🌈 the colors and the light were resplendent. I love light and uses of light and WOWZERS sis thru every nail it! Thank you so much for sharing this work of art and craftsmanship, remarkable. Again, I could watch hours of this trip and we've only just watched day 2 😆 I can't imagine the irl experience 🎉 thank you. 💙 😊
I truly had no idea how beautiful Barcelona is! Your kids will remember this forever 💕 Definitely on my bucket list but only if Jessica plans it for me. Ha!

My favorite part of my Barcelona tour was the Dalí museum. Coolest museum I’ve been to
Have you been to the Dali museum in St Petersburg, FL? Of course there is no comparison to the one in Spain lol but it's still really amazing!
Wow amazing all the food always look amazing yummy places are amazing thanks so very much Ballinger Family
Thanks for sharing …always enjoy your content ❤
I’m still getting used to seeing Christopher WITHOUT a child strapped to his chest, lol Do you feel lighter? What about all the free time you have not getting everyone ready for the day? Enjoy these moments with Bailey and Jacob. I remember when it was just the 4 of you ❤
Why did Parker and Duncan not go
I love these series! Travel vlogs are some of my favorite videos to watch.:)
Was wondering when this was gonna get posted!!! Love u guys ❤
Barcelona looks beautiful all the buildings look so cool and the chocolate factory museum that was so awesome I love that everything was made of chocolate.
Amidst the coo of of morning doves, the starlings did tweet; while almost everyone, and their pets were asleep. I love early mornings. That chocolate art, and cathedral is incredible. Thanks for sharing.
Really enjoying this Spain series. Great videos…thanks for sharing.
Holy cool vlog, Batman!!! 😂 so much to say…everything from, I’m blown away with the trip journal 🤯… those pictures!!!! To…that cathedral 🤯🤯 Thank you for bringing us along Ballinger’s! 🩷

I love going on adventures with you ❤🎉😊. Waaw that journal is so cool, I love the illustrations ❤! Europe is pretty awesome ha! I live in Germany and would love to go back to Barcelona again!
I love Gauldi architecture when I visited.
I really want to go visit all these amazing places now. I might never make it out of the United States but if I do I hope that I can visit some amazing places like this. Thank you for sharing
Love the editing, the music at the beginning was great.
Bailey! When I visited Spain I also enjoyed chocolate churros, Park Guell, and La Sagrada Familia. However, the parrots were my FAVORITE! They are called Quaker Parrots, also known as Monk Parakeets. They are super cool and unique parrots. They are unique in building giant colony nests (which other parrots don’t do) and there is a dispute of whether they should be classified as parrots or parakeets as they have features of both. They can be kept as pets in some areas of the USA, and are actually illegal in others as escaped quakers can survive and thrive here unlike other parrot species. There is a fear they will survive, build their giant nests, and destroy farmland even though it has been largely disproven. There are some wild colonies in the USA from escaped pets (mainly in New Jersey), but seeing them in Spain in WAY cooler. They are very smart and can learn to talk. They are one of the most stubborn pet birds and are known as a “1 person bird” as they typically bond with 1 person and become territorial and/or decide they hate everyone else. In captivity they can also come in a beautiful blue, but the wild green (with some blue on the wings) you saw is most common.
I had a rescued Quaker named Mikko as a pet for years, and he was my absolute best friend. He talked, did tricks, and loved attention. Despite a really tough start in life with other owners, we had an instant bond and I was definitely his person. I visited Spain a few years after he passed away, and seeing his wild counterparts all over was the highlight of my trip! A kind local women near my hostel fed them bird food every morning before she went to work, and let me join her so they would come close to me. It was like seeing my old friend Mikko again. They woman loved that I enjoyed the birds like she did, as she said many locals see them as pests or the same as pigeons as they are so common there. Just like you my camera roll was full of birds pictures, with just a few tourist pictures sprinkled in.
The alleyways were so cool even on camera - I can only imagine how incredible they are to walk through - I feel like you don’t get that sort of experience in most places in the USA. As a night owl, Barcelona’s late night vibes seem amazing…I also love how architecture can prompt us to stop and just sit in awe. Even just watching your experience, seeing Gaudi’s church made me pause and just sit in awe of God + the creative spirit He has given to His creation.
The green parrots look like Quaker parrots. I work for a VERY small city in Texas in the midst of South Fort Worth that is locally famous for having them there. Bird watchers have come to the city to photograph them. They are not as prevalent there in the last few years, though, due to the ever increasing population and destruction of nature.
I’m so sad you didn’t take Luke’s stuffed animal. Next time, take it and take pictures of it in different special places. Then, you can show and tell him where all his stuffy visited.❤❤❤
Not trying to be a negative Nellie, but I feel like there’s so many times that Jacob gets cut off from saying something. Let Jacob speak! lol
Btw, Jacob and Bailey are so so sweet and well-mannered.
Next time you guys visit Barcelona, you should visit the Plaça de Sant Felip Neri square, it’s honestly so beautiful
As you approached the Sagrada Familia, it brought me back to 2018 when the same view took my breath away for the first time! An unforgettable, awestruck memory of a lifetime! Thanks for letting me relive the memories!
The birds are “cotorras” don’t know the name in english. Love you enjoyed my city! See you soon! Fins aviat (catalan for hasta pronto)!
Who loves the theme song
This reminds me of this place in Orlando called Chocolate kingdom factory you do this big tour and they have chocolate statues just like that. and you get to design your own chocolate bar with candy in it and stuff but this place reminds me of it very much. I wonder if it was inspired by this place
La Sagrada Familia is definitely one of the most impressive landmarks I've ever seen. No camera can catch it like the human eye can. These vlogs just make me so happy!
I am enjoying the trip fully and remembering so many nice things! Amazing video of the Sagrada Familia inside. Among the five most beautiful things i have seen in my trips!
Pretty sure y'all forgot to take me with you......what I would have given to travel with my parents 💖💖💖
I love the travel journal at the end of the video!! First of all… the detail and artistry that went into the journal!! And secondly just sharing the memories and behind the scenes. Love it!
13:38 how do they have so much glass for working in chocolate? They must have some way to keep it at the right temperature! You'll probably tell me now!

I love that you and Jess got to spend one on one time with Bailey and Jacob. They will cherish the memories and the experience of this trip.
All those sculptures are made from chocolate?? How do they keep them from not melting of going bad?
You wanting to try all the foods is how my family does Disney World. Been lots of times but we spend a lot on food. There’s just some things you can’t replicate at home so live it up!
Hello everyone, I am so happy that you made it to Spain, safe travels.
Tortilla Española is one of my favorite foods! My Spanish teacher in high school used to make it.
16:28 DID U GUYS JUST CAPTURE SOMEONES PROPOSAL?!?!😱😱❤️❤️

What great buildings everywhere!! I am loving this trip, makes me feel like I am there❤
Wow, Barcelona is so beautiful those buildings are just magnificent. I'm in love with the country . Ty so much for having these vlogs, it sure is peaceful, especially in the morning .
Ty for explaining why Parker wasn't with you all.
That chocolate museum was fascinating and so cool how they made all that stuff out of chocolate. Wow, amazing place .
When did they explain that? I must've missed it. I hope the younger kids didn't get FOMO from not going too.
Did anyone else see, when they were under the plaza, that guy get down on one knee in front of his girl? It looked like he was proposing!
We couldn't walk ten feet without getting more food.
Spain is beautiful my Irish self wasn't able for the heat. 😂😂😂
Loving these episodes!!! Can’t wait for the next one
Well now you all need to read Pillars of the Earth (if you haven't already)!
I really enjoyed the premiere! I want to munch some chocolate and see some parrots now!
Hi love videos just wondering if you are still following Jojo Siwa
There's a free Picasso museum around where the chocolate museum is.
That is the best jacket! I love it, and am inspire to make one like it!
Fun fact: Did you know that the American rock band Evanescence filmed their hit music video My Immortal in Barcelona
I remember it very well! I was 10 when my Immortal first came out
The journal is so cool!! Love that part of the video!!
Wait, Bailey is an iPad photographer???
The buildings are so Beautiful!❤
Visit the Picasso Museum! It is marvelous!
Who did the kool drawings ,in your book?
You guys should try to come to Romania on your next European trip. We have great views, lots of castles and really yummy food for all tastes and diets. Not all of them are popular, but we do have them and they're yummy. La Sagrada Familia, is.... majestic. Glad to see they're restoring and finishing it...? I'm not 100% sure, but I think it's part of UNESCO. As for the chocolate museum... I could almost smell it through the screen LOL.
What a beautiful vlog! 🥰☀️
Forgive me Chris, for being so ignorant, but are you playing the music on here, the guitar music?
History, culture, languages and geography all in one class, and such fun that it doesn't get tiring ... unless you insist on being up all night 😂
I LOVE the travel journal!
Churros, Tortilla and Bocadillos!
Hey! Barcelona is definitely my favorite city out of all😍 just for you to know, those green parrots are called „Alexandersittiche“ in Germany, maybe that helps a little :) best wishes from Germany!
Beautiful journal ❤❤❤ Talented
I went to Barcelona in October 2018 during a storm and there was lightning at the Arc de Triomf. I also went to the Sagrada Familia, the Chocolate Museum, an optical illusions museum called Museum of Illusions and Park Güell
As a European you made me laugh when you showed footage of the inside of the Sagrada Familia accompanied by very american Disney music! It cracked me up, I thought Simba would wander around a Jesus statue at some point 😂 I love the way you let us join on your journey, and be amazed through your eyes by all the wonderful things you see! ❤
The cathedral is beautiful.
Love these videos. BTW, I can not get over how much Jacob and Teddy look alike. They could be twins. Is it just me, or do Christopher and Jessica also think they look the most similar out of all the siblings?
I love watching your videos on my iPad and I already follow your RUclips channel, I've been to La Sagrada Familia to get in it is very expensive tho, and yes you will learn lots don't get me wrong. This will be the third time I've been to Barcelona there are churches etc. One day maybe visit Australia as a suggestion but there are other places in Europe to visit in the future .
The memory book is so special lovin🎉the vlog of my favourite country as I can't get 5here watching these make me happy thanks so much 4 sharing stay safexx ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I of course love the content you all produce ……BUT …. Christopher your editing skills are truly unmatched you have real talent.
I went there for winterbreak and Barcelona was amazing!!! Visited the same places as yoyyyy
Love your family.
Churros!! It’s really bitter
Hi guys ☺️ just to say that I think the birds that Bailey loved are caturras, I don't know if its the same in Spanish, but it is in Portuguese.
Love your videos 😘
I thought I read once that Sagrada Familia is finished, but there’s always scaffolding on it because it’s constantly in need of repairs. You literally never see it without scaffolding on some part of it or other because it’s so gigantic, it always needs fixing or cleaning or something. I could be wrong though!
It’s not finished yet 😀 In addition to some of the scaffolding areas you’ve mentioned, there is a portion that is very controversial, as it involves demolishing a huge block of housing to complete the original Gaudi design 💔
@@BallingerFamily thank you for the information! I did a project on Gaudi architecture but it was a veeery long time ago so I wasn’t sure if I was remembering correctly.
Loved this vlog so much. First of all it reminded me of how I travel with my friends and family and also of trips I took to Barcelona (what a great city). But additionally as a mother of a toddler who had a hard day with some tantrums and meltdowns, I cried a bit when I saw the kids’ faces discovering Sageada Familia as it made me impatient to be able to experience this with my kid one day. Can’t wait for the next vlog!
I LOVE YOU GUYS IM SO EXCITED ❤
I love chocolate! You are all the best. Thank you so much for taking me to Spain🤠❤️...One, two, three.....shower
So grateful for your videos. It's been 15 years since I visited some of the same locations in Barcelona you shared in this video & it was great to learn something new all these years later. Excited for the next video in this series! I recall a cafe named El Bosc de Les Fades with a magical fairy forest theme in the wax museum that was very memorable about Barcelona. The food was also above & beyond. I was glad you all shared some of your dining experiences. Your travel journal is also super fun!
I live in Barcelona and used to work next to sagrada familia. Every day when I left the metro I would see people seeing the sagrada familia for the first time, just like Bailey here. I loved it. This city is so great, although it has a lot of not so great things… it’s really cool seeing you here ❤
I was in Bacelona in October and I went to the park and the church it was beautiful. Few facts my the tour guide I had the lizard is the most popular the to get as a souvenir. Also one the building in the park has turned into a school. Finally the church is supposed to be done being built by 2030.
