  • The momentum was with the Hurricanes, winners of the last two games, to start Game 6 in Carolina. The Canes would come out with a quick start and the Rangers found themselves down 3-1 at the end of 2. Chris Kreider would score 3 consecutive goals for the Rangers to complete the comeback and to finish the series for New York. The Rangers will face the winner of the Boston Florida series in the Eastern Conference Final.

      Kreider might surpass Messier one day as far as greatest Ranger of all time, if for no other reason than Messier spent so much time with the Oilers, and Kreider has been with the Rangers the whole time. Messier is the better player but Kreider might end up with the best Rangers career of all time.

    I owe Jack Roslovic an apology. Was not enamored by his play the last couple of games, and not through the first two periods of this game, so much so I thought it was a good idea going into the 3rd to have some double shifting and Jack sit ... but that pass to Lindgren while taking multiple Canes for the ride, was beautiful. At that moment he fit perfectly well with what this Ranger team can do creatively. You could just feel a goal coming from all that. So, thank you Jack Roslovic, everyone will talk about Chris' 3 goals, Shesty's great saves, but I'll remember that perfect little pass to Lindgren.

    • @sama3033

      @@sama3033 Well there's a reason why he ends up on the 3rd line everywhere he plays despite his obvious talents, so it remains to be seen .... but he has overall performed pretty well in the playoffs and has meshed with Mika's line better than anyone we had internally prior to the trade deadline.

    • @calmandprosperous
      @calmandprosperous 19 дней назад

      IMO Roslovic was a bit unlucky this series. I think he had over ten shots on goal this series but just couldn't find the back of the net. But he was definitely involved and he has great speed. I think he needs to be more like Panarin and just shoot more even if he is a good passer.

    • @Whippets
      @Whippets 19 дней назад

      @@calmandprosperous How many drive bys does he do defensively though? He can get lackadaisical at times. This is why his upside was Top 6 but he's never ever been able to hold anything down beyond the 3rd line. Very inconsistent, the only on switch with him is to make him sit for a couple of shifts, that seems to bring the message home with him. In general, his hockey IQ is middling at best.

    • @calmandprosperous
      @calmandprosperous 19 дней назад

      @@Whippets The problem is that we don't have anyone better for that spot. Kaako has zero chemistry with Kreider and Mika. It's nice to have Wheeler back but he's slow and not really an upgrade. Personally I would have preferred Duclair but he's been known for his defensive issues as well. I think Jack will be fine. It's Chytil I'm more concerned about.

    I want to give props to every Ranger, Igor for keeping us in it, and the rest for pulling together and getting the job done! What an epic 3rd period comeback win. Kreider really stepped up but he can't do it alone. Everyone stepped up and that's what it's going to take to bring us the Cup.

    Agree with Boyle that Kreider's second goal was absolutely world-class. If you slow it down, he doesn't even move his stick off the the ice prior to Panerin shooting the puck. The puck was probably 10' from Breadman's stick when Kreider starts to move his stick. This means he has barely a split-second to determine its speed and trajectory, and when, how hard, and at what angle to tip the puck. Even more amazing, he did it cross-body. To me this is one of the great goals in Rangers' history, and ice hockey in general. One could call it luck, I guess, which is always a factor. I remember Leetch saying in '94 after his spin-o-rama goal at the side of the net, "I just spun around and went, hey, that's the puck in the net." Go figure.

      @@humanbeing2420 Personally, I feel that up to that point, they had been undefeated. There were going to be these games. Every other team already gave up games or simply didn't show up. They've lost two games out of 10. I still think it's extremely respectable, especially since they won games that most people thought they were going to lose. It's certainly something to be said that this isn't over yet, because they're only halfway there. If they can keep on top of their game, play it the way that they've shown they can, they can beat any remaining team in a best of seven series.

    TNT showed a little kid crying in Raleigh and I felt for him. But just shy of my 39th birthday (Saturday) I’ll admit I was crying too, just not for the same reason. I was trying desperately not to make the Messier analogy out loud and jinx it with 4 minutes to play, so instead of the words, what came out was the pure emotion I felt when I was 9 and Mess cashed in his guarantee. Except multiply that by 30 years of more perspective on just how unlikely and magical a feat that was, and the knowledge that maybe I took it for granted a bit back then. Cherish this one. Frame it and hang it up and admire it. And now it’s up to the boys to do the rest of the work so we remember it forever.

    A couple of reflexions if I may.
    First, I was in the exact state of mind as Steve after 2 periods. And the first 2 or 3 minutes of the third just confirmed my impressions. I never saw that comeback coming this time, which is even sweeter come to think of it.
    To be honest (50 years Rangers fan speaking) I was even contemplating the worst because, well, I have a lot of experience in disappointments in playoffs as only Rangers fans would understand (but Leafs fans are getting there) , particularly older ones like me.
    Second, Brian is 100% correct when he says that this is a "mental game". That is precisely why I did not believe they would win this game after 2 frames, and yet...
    Third, I have a confession to make. I was pissed at Igor when he did not stopped Aho for Carolina's 3rd goal. But I quickly realized (even before the comeback) that I was simply frustrated by the score. Aho scored a pure scorer goal.
    Fourth, Igor was indeed instrumental in this spectacular win. Without his keys saves at 1-3 we would think about game 7 for sure.
    Fifth, can I mention that Brian is a natural in front of the camera. Keep this broadcasting roster please. Steve is excellent and Brian is very good as well. As for John, what can I say. The guy is a pro. Keep up the good work guys!
    Sixth, bravo Chris Kreider and a mention to Panarin and Lindgren for superb passing BTW.
    LGR!

    Championship DNA, i believe the loss last year against the devils. Was crucial for their success this year

    Just spectacular! Kreids and Shesty stood out but the whole team was on it. I gotta admit, end of second I was starting to let the doubts creep in. Big credit to Schneider for a terrific never-quit game and Lindgren, whose crease pass was tremendous.

    I had this one shut off. I had a hard time watching this game. I took my Rangers practice shirt off and my Kovalev jersey, threw them in the hamper. I was so upset and so mad But then the 2nd goal was scored. I was surprised and a little bit of hope started to creep in
    I out kiddo to bed and came out and they tied it. My heart was just insane and adrenaline was just overtaking
    I couldn’t believe they came back and I couldn’t believe they actually got an EN goal😅
    What a game. What a game.

  • @piggy8761

    This team was fucking dead
    I mean totally outplayed through 2.
    This was headed for a game 7 and I HAVE NO DOUBTS THE CANES WOULD WIN. No one would have faith in the rangers.
    But the canes hit posts all night, could have easily been a 3 or 4 goal deficit. Shesty made bog saves to keep the score within reach.
    Then chris kreider turned into mark messier. Literally. All time 3rd period NY sports performance. Retire 20 immediately. These guys are different.
