Hi Matt. I kept the transfer shaft and all the hand throttle gubbins on the bulkhead and made a direction reversing lever where the linkage pulls the top towards the bulk and bottom pulls away from the bulk then there’s a triumph clutch cable that goes round the back of the engine to the injector pump in a nice smooth three foot curve. Throttle doesn’t bounce anymore as it’s got a decent cable to ease it out. Works well. Lever is about 1:1
@@lookcreations I’ve seen people just connect the first engine bay lever to the injector pump with wire. I did it to drive round the block but every yard was a kangaroo bounce. Undriveable The cable sorted that out completely.
@@lookcreations Yeah I know that feeling, thankfully its Friday and Im sat here with a glass of my favourite and Im unwinding.. I hope you have a great weekend and a better week ahead Mat
@@AllFOURBYTHORMotorCompany if I had all the 'spares' i would use them. The pedal from the disco' just wasnt suitable. Besides I wanted to retain the hand throttle. Itll do for now.
The mysterious green bracket mounted on the bulkhead is the anchor point for the Bowden cable clevis on the 2.25 litre diesel cable (as opposed to second rod) operated throttle. Trunnion in the lever of the cross shaft then operates on cable shelf. Similar arrangement at injection pump with the Bowden cable clevis anchored to a bracket secured off 2 of the pump mounting studs. I'm sure your improvisation will achieve the desired result!
Well my brother had his sports steering wheel stolen , after he parked up the Humber 90 late at night No petrol !! next morning he returned and had to drive the car home with vise grips , typical new Zealand .

It just seamed right to retain the linkage all be it a couple of mods'. Once I get the engine running I will decide if I should revisit the actuator.

Lots of progress and lots more head scratching & heartache this meek Mat the joys of old cars eh..
It has been a hell of a week of frustration. The brake pipe arrived at 2:30 so am happy it’s done.

Bloody hell can you not just fit a early defender pedal ??? (I don't have any of the trap door system ) there goes another 100 quid 😢
Nice modding skills though !!

The last ten percent is ninety percent of the work! Great job as usual.
It certainly feels like that. Thanks for stopping by. Mat
Great job and great perseverance as always. Really enjoyed it.
Thanks for watching
@@lookcreations that throttle linkage system - good job it isn't needlessly overcomplicated!
fit a pedal and cable from a 200tdi defender works great
Couldnt find a pedal when I looked and I would lose the hand throttle without making more mods.

That sounds about the luck I have. Thanks for stopping by. Mat
What wiring are you using I keep looking at autosparks but I'm probably a year away from doing it
I have an autosparks loom, the rear section is pulled in already. The main loom and bay loom yet to look at. Dreading the electrics TBH :-) Mat
