President Javier Milei wants to push through reforms of the Argentinian economy | DW News

  • Argentina's president has given his first policy speech to Congress. Javier Milei announced a wide range of reforms.
In his fiery speech he said he would try to push through policies with or without lawmaker's support. "We won't back down, we're going to keep pushing forward," he said, adding: "Whether that's by law, presidential decree or by modifying regulations."
The right-wing populist took power last November, promising to shake up Argentina's embattled economy. But he's facing strong opposition in the parliament - and on the streets.
Unions called for protests ahead of Milei's speech - saying they fear his plans will leave the country worse off.

The report from Argentina was totally inaccurate. The journalist made President Milei appear to have issued threats against the opposition and he did quite the opposite. He built a bridge of understanding between different political parties and offered an invitation to sign a treaty with all the governors and other members of the political establishment to work together towards reforms that will benefit the people. I hope somebody turns Milei’s speech into English with AI (as the Davos’ speech) so that random reporters don’t create unwarranted misunderstandings as is the case here.

A dictator is an elected leader who holds total power in a country, with no other real bodies of power existing (because then it would not be total power). The total power part is critical for being a dictator.
A leader who refers to himself as a Dictator, but doesn't hold total power, is:
      1. either a dishonest liar
      2. or an ignorant fool who shouldn't be let anywhere near governing. a country. It's ignorance on such a grand level that he shouldn't even be allowed near a voting booth for the same reason why children aren't allowed to perform brain surgery or near a voting...there are adults with the mental capacity of a child and the same naive ignorant stubborn confidence in their competency.
