President Javier Milei wants to push through reforms of the Argentinian economy | DW News

- Argentina's president has given his first policy speech to Congress. Javier Milei announced a wide range of reforms.
In his fiery speech he said he would try to push through policies with or without lawmaker's support. "We won't back down, we're going to keep pushing forward," he said, adding: "Whether that's by law, presidential decree or by modifying regulations."
The right-wing populist took power last November, promising to shake up Argentina's embattled economy. But he's facing strong opposition in the parliament - and on the streets.
Unions called for protests ahead of Milei's speech - saying they fear his plans will leave the country worse off.

I live in Argentina, and hes the best thing that happened here in a long time. The left here, is utterly corrupt.
"The left here, is utterly corrupt" And the right isn't? lol Milei will only enrich his cronies privatizing basic utilities and impoverish the already poor masses, all while already having made protesting functionally illegal.

The report from Argentina was totally inaccurate. The journalist made President Milei appear to have issued threats against the opposition and he did quite the opposite. He built a bridge of understanding between different political parties and offered an invitation to sign a treaty with all the governors and other members of the political establishment to work together towards reforms that will benefit the people. I hope somebody turns Milei’s speech into English with AI (as the Davos’ speech) so that random reporters don’t create unwarranted misunderstandings as is the case here.
I thought the same , they literally didn’t put a second of his speech.
