Thank you for this easy to follow demonstration. I have tried several SSK tidy-ups and am anxious to work this on on the hat I am working on. Thanks again.
heh heh, I went to your Ravelry page and ordered two sock patterns with bead embellishments, my young grandaughters LOVE beads on anything I knit for them. I'm going to try your SSK
I've been doing a test swatch for all the many ssk improvements on RUclips and so far this one is the best! Since I'm a looser knitter, I have to add a bit of tugging but it looks great. Wish I'd had this as I knit the first 1/2 of my t-shirt top. Well this side will just have to be my front!
Do you think this can be converted to a clean 2 stitch decrease, like k3tog? I’m working a pattern in garter stitch and the k3tog options I’ve tried leave a bumpy line down the middle of the block.
I’m not sure! That’s a good question, I’ll have to try it out and see. I didn’t originate this stitch method, I am just showing it for my followers because I use it in some of my patterns, but I would be interested to see if it could be adapted for a 2 stitch decrease
Agreed! It's not quite the same as ssk. Going through the back leg of the second stitch has the effect of twisting it (slightly clockwise). It looks nice. It isn't quite the mirror of k2tog, as ssk is intended to be. One could do their decreases this way, but then the right-leaning version would be: slip 1 st purl wise, then slip it back to the left needle (twisted slightly counterclockwise from its previous orientation), and then k2tog.
I first learned that from Patty Lyons in her Bag of Tricks class back in 2012 (love it!). She filmed in a few years ago here; ruclips.net/video/GXBSmedZXfY/видео.html
I like the ease of this method and it is neater; however, on the purl row the stitch loosens and I end up with that visible loop sitting on top.
I've started knitting my SSK with this technique, and it gives a much neater look to this decrease. Thank you for sharing!
The best ssk alternative I've seen !
I'm using it now on a hat !
Love ❤ your technique 🎉
Tk you easily understood!!
I'll try this today on my toque I'm making.😊

You’re very welcome! I hope it is as great for you as it has been for me. 🥰

Right on! Thank you so much! 🥰 I hope you enjoy them. Let me know if you need any help with anything!
Great, does such a neet finish. Thank you so much. Very well explained.

I saw a video 4 ways to do SSK. You can appreciate the stitch finish and decide the best you like to do 😊
U made it so easy thank you
2:40 is the demonstration of the stitch
I love it too much. THANK YOU 🥰🥰🥰
You’re welcome 😊 I'm so glad you like it!
Love this! Excited to use it on my socks!
It will work on socks ??
Keeping the gussets looking similar instead of wonky?
Yes! It will work. 🥰 It looks a lot more smooth than a regular SSK.
Thanks yes his is how I learned ssk

Hi how will you do a sssk
I think this is the same as slip 1 knit-wise, slip 1 purl-wise, knit both together through the back of the loops.
I think it might be! I will have to get on the needles and take a look, but it seems right as I imagine it.

I can never get in the back stitch
Wish less chit chat and more tutorials
