Thanks for watching. So much I see and appreciate when I'm out there that just doesn't show up on the gopro.

Great video! I totally agree with you regarding the pure fun of operating QRP. I only take the KX2 out for POTA activations and thoroughly love it.
I do have to say that I prefer summer over winter though. I’m just the opposite from you in that once I’m cold, I just can’t warm up. Add to that that here in KS we not only have cold temps, but brutal wind (and wind chill numbers), so most of my winter activations are maybe 30 minutes in length. Just long enough to get ~20 contacts.
I really appreciate your videos! Thanks.

I was having a hard time keeping war, but I started carrying a poncho liner late last year. I kind of sit on it and wrap my legs. That really helps when I'm stopped to do POTA. That's why I like the ground chair. It works under a tarp or in a small tent if needed. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Thank you for video!
    Nice to see new activation.
But talking about weight, tx500 is able to run for a while with 3Ah 🔋 and produce 10W comparing with Icom ic705 which has 1.8Ah battery 🔋 and current draw about 0.5A.
Also it not so convenient to work with ic705 from knee or similar, ic705 bulky and little heavy. I would like to have similar to ic705 which reduced a weight and thickness.
On the other hand it is hard to find something more all-inclusive radio for now.

I do agree. I probably won't use UHF/VHF very much, which probably accounts for some of the weight, but it is nice to have. I just got word that my TX-500 needs a whole new lower circuit board. I'm still don't know what caused the failure.

How did you record your outgoing CQ message on the IC-705? I just did my first POTA activation last weekend, and I almost lost my voice calling CQ for over 6 hours straight. That sure would have made it much easier on me.

The IC-705 can save up to 8 recorded messages. You must have a micro SD card inserted into the radio. Instructions are on page 6-1 of the IC-705 Advanced Manual www.icomjapan.com/support/manual/3063/
