    Great valley. Used to go there years ago with my Dad. He was part of the group who cared for the cemetary area. This was after the homestead had been destroyed. We used to go in the same way then out the other end croosing the Wongangurra, and crooked rivers coming out near Dargo. Its good to see it again. Thanks for your trip

      Pleasure mate was a great first meet up with you and Paul, we had a ball even though this was just 1 day. Almost as much fun as the next trip!

    Well done mate. This is exactly the video I was looking for when taking the family out Wonangatta before years end. Nice, clear and informative narration, made the video impactful.

    Excellent video. Thank you.
    The Wonnangatta Valley is such an iconic destination.
    So many videos show the macho climbs and descents, but fail to adequately describe where they are.
    Your commentary made the video most enjoyable as one can see for themselves the nature of the terrain.
    Keep up the great work.

      Thx mate, that's what my channel is all about showing people tracks in a way that you can tell where they are and make an informed decision if you want to go out and tackle it yourself. Like you before I started the channel found plenty of videos showing lots of 'action' but limited info on exactly where and how do I get to iconic places like Wonnangatta anyway?

      Thx mate they've been well received so where possible will keep them coming. Craigs and wonnangatta were obvious ones to do. So popular.

    Did this route 3 days ago and there's a few really steep sections that made me cringe. Tried to leave via the south east but the exit of one of the tiny creek crossings not far out of the valley cut that plan short. Need a rear locker!

    • @OffTheBeatenPathAus
      @OffTheBeatenPathAus  6 дней назад

      It's a little more chopped up than back when I filmed this. I guess steepness is open to interpretation. If you were leaving Wonnangatta via the South East, assume that was Humffray River track? Exits are all driveable without lockers, traction control probably helps but have driven them all fairly recently in the 76 which is still open diffs.
      If you wanted a way out without river crosings you could take Hart Spur Track, although that is actually fairly steep as well. Has some loose sections also, but all driveable without lockers.
      Still best call if you're not comfortable tackling it, turn around is always the right choice. There's always another time. Hope you enjoyed your visit to wonnangatta

    If you want to avoid Harry Shepherds Track, you can take East Buffalo/East Riley Rd to that 4 way intersection. Good if you're driving a Commodore or Falcon 🙂

    Love it. Just came back from doing Blue Rag, Billy Goats and Crooked River...had Wonnangatta on the list but just couldn't make it happen. You've shown a good way of getting there though.

      Thx mate. Yeah well worth the drive so much history and amazing to think of people settling there in the 1800's. It's remote now, back then it was 4 days by horse to anywhere......

    Thanks Jase. I can't wait to see you doing the 76. Are you doing the catch can and diff breathers?
    I'd be interested to hear.
    Thanks again mate, BobbyB.

      Thx mate, yes will be adding those (still waiting) but I do think they're both a good idea. Mixed reports on a few options for the 76 with regards to catch cans, looking at a GSL Fab one at the moment.

    Looks like you could take a van in that way.

      Something not too heave or big (over head branches) you could get in to the camp ground near craigs hut.

      Hey there, not sure why this only came up in my feed to reply now! Some certainly have taken small vans in this way, would depend on the tow vehicle.

    Hey great video, I’m curious what website you were using to look at the maps at the beginning? Is that Hema maps?

    • @OffTheBeatenPathAus
      @OffTheBeatenPathAus  Год назад

      It's not a website, I use Memory Map and the maps are hema maps purchased through the memory map store. I use it a lot for my offline trip planning. Run it as a backup on my phone for navigation as well.
