The problem is…they’re not wrong. Surely you don’t think they prefer fewer viewers? The fact is, the competition shows get far higher viewership. I don’t get it (I’ve never watched even a full single competition show episode), but it is what it is. We, the public, can change that, by changing our viewing habits.
Dong blame big brother. Blame your selves, your neighbours, your family. Big brother is just delivering what they want.

So you bring in someone who's young and nice to look at and ratings improve. I'm old too, I know what it's like to be ignored when once my opinion was sought after. I got rid of my satellite tv probably about 14 to 16 years ago. I had nothing but basic channels and 2 receiver boxes and DirecTV raised my price a couple of times in short progression and my satellite bill ended up over $100.
The few channels I liked to watch, Comedy Central and the Discovery Networks would play hours of infomercials of paid advertising earlier in the day and a ton of repeats, even on the same day.
Add to that this is when the networks and cable and satellite providers would argue over licensing renewal fees and then the networks would be off the air, sometimes for months.
I had just learned about streaming services and the Roku back then. I tried both for a week, loved it and loved how inexpensive they both were and sent DirecTV packing.
I will NEVER go back to Cable or Satellite ever again.

Food Network is not the same anymore. What happened to all the chefs ? Every time I turn on the Food Network is Guy Fieri with his game challenge or Bobby Flay. Now if I’m looking for recipes or cooking shows definitely RUclips. So many talented chefs with great recipes and cooking skills. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳💚

My wife and I have stopped watching the Food Network because reality competition cooking shows SUCK beyond all description.
We learned so much from Food Network when they actually had real cooking shows, learning new techniques, and new recipes.

I agree with all of you. I don’t watch the food network any longer. Just a bunch of competition shows. I don’t watch those.

We always have RUclips. No celebrities there, just everyday cooks. The best.

After Iron chef took off, they went all in on competition shows. It's not my thing but glad I got to watch the early days, and learned a lot.

Iron Chef Japan was not only a cult favourite (1989) but campy with it's own style. No others.

It is ok, Val. You are a pioneer in this field. Big tv messes up everything. You will be fine. God loves you and so do most of us.

Valerie needs to do her own podcast and do it all her own way. She will have millions of subscribers and actual watchers from around the world in no time. She can do it.

A 8 year run on TV is wonderful! Don’t complain most of us have to work and we lose our jobs, we get new ones.
