    Part 2 - ruclips.net/video/oXhHH5HpU4Y/видео.html
    Part 3 - ruclips.net/video/EE6dmgqOApo/видео.html
    Thanks to Stefan Skotte and Raj for providing these for repair. I forgot to say thanks to Stefan in this video, but will sort that in part 2!
    NOTE: Correction, at one point there I said the vref is correct now at 2.4v, that's wrong - it was back to the correct 1.2v. Towards the end there I called Alice Agnus lol - I know what I meant, Alice is the AGA version fo Agnus effectively.

    We were a DOS household so I've never experienced an Amiga in its heyday but I'm enjoying Amiga content more and more lately and learning about the various systems. Really going to enjoy the rest of this series.

      Amiga computer were the best in the 80s, MS-DOS computers could not get near Amiga computers back in the 80s, but around 1992 when the Amiga 1200 and 4000 came out, it was not the best anymore, Commodore really F up, CEO Mehdi Ali destroyed Commodore and so Amiga, he hated everything about Amiga, i think he was put there to destroy Commodore and so Amiga, with out him and another one the Amiga computers would have used the AAA graphics chip and not the AGA, and it would have had 16Bit audio and more, if they (Amiga 1200/4000) would came out with a AAA chip and 16 bit audio, it would have been a hit, just like the Amiga 500 and Amiga 2000.
      Would have loved to see how the computer world and more would look like if Amiga was still around and still a big player.

    There's something really satisfying about adding some flux and cleaning up a crusty solder joint. Though soldering on corroded boards can be a such a pain. Sometimes they refuse to take solder, no matter how clean and fluxed they are. And you never forget that smell of battery corrosion being heated with a soldering iron.

    I generally use my hoof tip to do everything; even surface mount stuff (including 0805 resistors and caps). With the fairly tight temperature control that my station has (it takes T15 style integrated tip/heater cartridges), it’ll very quickly bring even large parts up to melting temperature without overshooting.

      Yeah, at that point it probably wasn't detecting the RAM properly as there were so many issues!

      Thanks my friend =D Samsun R10 - pretty old now, it will do 1080p but seem that 720p is better.

    Just curious... Why didn't you start by removing the battery and neutralizing the caustic material?

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  3 года назад

      I really should have removed the battery at the start - I did that on the 2nd board. I neutralized battery and capacitor leakage as I went around the various areas on the board. It was quite moderate except for around the RTC area.

    Well done finding that corroded pin under the memory socket. Lots of problems on this board were hard to find. Pays off to be super meticulous. Are these still Stephen Leary's boards?

    Cardboard, especially in a high humidity environment, is just conductive enough to dissipate static when placed on a properly grounded anti-static mat. Being on the mat itself is, of course, better; but cardboard does not make me cringe like plastic does.

    I've noticed that grey-brownish color texted caps leak mostly only on my Amiga 1200. Probably that was the shitty manufacturer. Black texted caps seem to hold up fine.

    Opposite of educated guesses; gesucated esses. 😝 (or is it, a**es?) That’s how I feel about repairing sh*t these days; it’s all one big gesticulated a**! 😂😝🤣
