Idk there’s something about all those old Italian guys sitting outside that social club on a summer day speaking Italian that makes me happy and glad the mafia hasn’t totally been exterminated and that these old neighborhoods aren’t completely gentrified yet. That’s really cool to see.

@@limpcall8570 oh you have proof that any of those guys committed murder? Lol who’s to say any of them are even in the mafia? These indictments are from 10 years ago. A lot has changed since then. And even if they did commit murder on behalf of the mafia there’s a good chance they were ordered to kill other men connected to the mafia- they’re not running around killing innocent civilians- so in that regard yea I am happy. I’m happy that the absurd cost of rent and living in the neighborhood they grew up in hasn’t forced them out yet. The mafia brought order and security to the neighborhood. They looked after their neighbors and the ppl that lived amongst them. Unlike the police and politicians who are in control nowadays.

Whoever paid the detective to raid other family gambling is a rat move in my book. Btw, I always thought it's bs how they bust some old guys in a basement playing poker while gambling is legal everywhere now. Even kids can get online and gamble but it boils down to taxes. The gov. doesn't care what you do as long as u pay taxes.

You're right on the ball with this Mooney, very timely video. You really do get around, it's like a full time job for you between research, driving, filming, editing. But the end results are always great. By the way, at the first social club, you thought the guys might be judging you, if they were, "chadrool" most likely would have been the word they were thinking, not schmuck. Chadrool is Italian slang basically for someone who's a dope, dummy, etc. My grandfather and my mother used that expression many times. To be clear I'm not saying that about you, I'm just saying what the word the paisans at the social club could have been thinking instead of schmuck.

The grand tour of these social clubs was cool, including the drives and scenery along the way. Anything on Long Island captures my interest, as I spent a lot of time out there, including Jones Beach; which you weren't all that far from. The guys sitting around at the first social club, didn't look all that gangsterish (if that's a word); you could've taken them all very easily! LOL. When I was watching your video and at the end when it started to rain, it also started to rain out here where I'm at. That was kinda eerie! Be safe bud, and watch out for falling air conditioners! 😀

MOONEY and JMAN, I saw you guys debating how these "businesses" survive even on $2000 profit a day in gambling. We had a lot of these in the neighborhood growing up. I don't think you understand how it works. First, there is no rent. Because there is no landlord. Maybe it's in some old Italian guy's name in the neighborhood, maybe some LLC controlled by some retired guy in Florida owns it, maybe an ex-wife of some guy. Once a year, they give the "owner" the $5000 or whatever to pay the annual property taxes. There are no fire inspections. No one is coming around to see if their Consumer license is up to date. There is no inventory. Some old retired guy has the concession; maybe he kicks them $100 bucks a week in rent, he makes some sandwiches, has some bottles of booze, some cheese, some salad, some olives, he seels the stuff, works mostly for tips, keep him busy. No one is walking in the store. You are not welcome. And there's nothing in it. So JMAN, they are making $2K a day on average is the claim, that's after paying one or two guys to deal the cards, who also clean up the backroom with the guy with the sandwiches. Maybe they throw $50 to a bodyguard to hang around. So they are clearing $600,000 -$700,000 in a single spot annually for doing absolutely nothing. Yeah, that's pretty good money.

Hey Mooney, that sports club was originally in the building whose garage you parked in front if. The storefront that now has “my hair salon,” now. They told the owner it was a soccer club and basically would use the space for Italian soccer matches. Instead they had an all night poker game going on and cafe. By then the owner realized it was mobbed up and we called the The Sopranos. The tenants above homes became cigarette smoke and coffee odor filled. When the lease was up, the owner didn’t want to resign, they threatened the 80 something year old owner. Spray painted the building with threats. But someone must have told them to knock it off - the elderly man was a pillar of the Glendale community and a wonderful man - and find another location- where they are now - because they left and the hair salon moved in.

    Great job Mooney!! Hi Truck!
Got to give credit to the Bonannos for being old school. More than a century after Joe and his boss Marranzano were sent out from Castellamare by the Sicilian Grand Lodge to take over the American Mafia from the Morello/Terranova aka Masseria aka Luciano aka Genovese Family their guys are still speaking Sicilian in front of a social club in a Sicilian, and Italian, speaking area where they run card games. even if their presumed current Boss seems inept. And it's directly across from a cemetary. How appropriate.
You probably eyeballed the guy on the motorcycle at the corner of club #2 who was making a phone call when you came back. A lookout?
Darn those Feds. They closed down the last traditional Italian cobbler/shoe repair in Merrick!
The case, based on the reports I've seen, seems a little thin and disproportionate. There are people (lawyers even) who tried to murder cops with lesser charges and bail. Certainly there actual murders and attempted murders with less attention. As you pointed out the financial numbers parroted by the DA make no sense. If they want to try these guys for being Mafiosi where are the racketeering and tax evasion charges? I suspect they have the corrupt cop dead to rights but some of the others may get off or plea bargained down.

Whoa this one brings back memories. 2004 ish. I've been to Valley Stream. S. Conduit and something hook road. Little industrial aera back off in there. Oh and the your accent is coming off thick when you say "see what I do for you." Sound just like DeNiro saying "see what you made me do to you." Hahaha great video.

I don’t blame you for going back around towards your truck, that would look very suspicious and those guys would probably grab you and beat the crap out of you lol they probably thought you were an FBI agent passing by so if they weren’t trying to do anything lol

@@ashharkausar413 So walking by with your phone hanging out on record is it going to raise any suspicions?

@@artmolina Ya it's suspicious. If they see him recording it is. I don't think they'd beat him up but they would question him.

If they actually thought he was FBI they wouldn't touch him. That would be very stupid. Twenty years in a Federal Prison stupid as it would be on video. A nosy You Tuber is another story. Mooney was being wise.
