No not create sparks over top of batteries! They can explode!
Watch high voltage! Use insulated spark plug pliers!
When running an engine with parts disconnected, make sure you are aware of fuel systems still engaged as sparks and fuel do not mix! Never run an engine long term with ignition system parts disconnected or engine damage will occur!

Another awesome video. Unfortunately I switched to a diesel motor recently, but very informative. One of the reasons I switched, by the way, was I needed new plugs and leads, but they were very inaccessible and needed to be done by a mechanic. In fact the last time the were changed the mechanic broke a coolant hose trying to get to them! The car was ancient and this was the final straw so I got rid. Now I have a diesel. Very different machine.

Yeah some vehicles are brutal to get at the spark plugs. What car did you have? What did you get?

@@wayofthewrench I had a Skoda Octavia MK1 2003 1.6 L Petrol, swapped that for Skoda Octavia MK2 1.6L Diesel 2012 model. Not sure if you get them in the US, but I believe VW use the same engines in their Passats, at least in Europe anyway. Unfortunately in Ireland there is no incentive to keep an old car. Taxes and insurance costs increase, which makes the car almost worthless on paper and not worth spending money on, which is a shame.
