I feel like you when it comes to three star books, like it was good, but it wasn't great, but I'm going to continue if it's a series. Not everything can be five stars, cause then they wouldn't be special. I don't know, I kind of like the "lack" of world building, that way I can imagine what it's like in my own mind when I read it, plus sometimes there is just TOO much world building and then the book gets snoozy.

I relate so much to putting things off until the next day and then having health issues. It's always better to do things when you feel decent, and one day...one day I will learn this.
Maybe the wrap ups can include general lifestyle faves. Like skincare, hair care, recipes, routines, food, shopping, etc. monthly faves :) also girl, you gotta do what you gotta do to enjoy your reading. If that means dropping everything and binging the books that just came in, then it is what it is.
THAT DRIVE THRU LIBRARY DROP OFF IS INSANELY AMAZING WHAAAAAT. in New Zealand we have to be peasants and walk into the library (also sorry for all of my comments, I comment as I watch lol)

I love the library. I have the habit of putting 15 books on hold. Only reading half and then needing to take back or recheck out. It's a vicious cycle and I never learn.

Same guidelines as you! Since 2.5 is half of 5, that means 2.5 is “just fine.” 3 is little better than fine, 3.5 is good, 4 is pretty good, 4.5 is a fave of the year, 5 is new fave of all time. 🤷♀️

If I finish a book, it’s a 3 star minimum. I don’t rate under that because if a book is under a 3, I’m not finishing it.

The movie you're thinking about is Grave Encounters! I think? It follows a very familiar looking/acting ghost hunting crew/personality.... who usually fake their hauntings but then the asylum they're investigating turns out to be very real. The Hell House LLC movies have moments of people breaking into abandoned buildings as well (the second one I think has the clip of the RUclipsr investigating?) But the Hell House franchise feels very meta/self referential at times, as the first movie follows people renovating a haunted house for a haunted house attraction, the second movie following a documentary crew trying to figure out what happened to the people in the first movie.
I am the same with library books I just said that in one of my last vlogs!😂

Also, I’m here for all of your content, but as for the reset vlogs, personally, I enjoy the lifestyle parts, like the grocery shopping and the cleaning and stuff like that cuz it’s real, but I really like the book resets, like the quick recaps and updates on what you’ve been reading.
And lastly, ((sorry super long comment 🫣)), because of watching your vlogs, and Gabby’s, and Gavin’s, and like every other BookTuber I watch, I am trying to utilize my library more for physical books. I’ve been using Libby since 2022 for ebooks and audiobooks, but going INTO the library has a different meaning and I LOVE it ❤❤❤
Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie is similar to what you were describing. Found footage horror book about a team that has a TV ghost hunting show where the premise is the wife doesn’t believe and finds out non-supernatural reasonings for hauntings and the husband does believe and really wants to find an actual provable haunting. It was fun. I’m pretty sure it’s on KU

My body isn't great at handeling coffee but every time I watch a weekly vlog I crave it so much. 😂 Also, a three star is an average sometimes even quite good book to me. Like I enjoyed it and I would recommend it but it just wasn't a five star. Does that make sense?

YES with the lack of world building as of late! I noticed that even though I am very mentally creative with that, its not as clear to me. Its super vague, almost like a blurry image. Its been causing me a bit of frustration no matter how much I like the book.
Yes, I agree so much! I’ve been reading books published pre 2021 and it’s much better with physical world building.

A 3 star for me is a book doing what it’s supposed to do. It was good, I was entertained and I enjoyed my time. A 4 star is a good book with something a little extra and a 5 star is an amazing book that I have either learned something from or the book is something unforgettable. A 2 star is meh and a 1 star I’m generally annoyed/angry about something in the book.

I got really indecisive when it came to rating books, so I now use a modified "CAWPILE" method (I think originated by Book Roast), but it's just "CAWPE" and each aspect gets rated out of 5. Taking the average of those then gives me my number of stars for a book. I truly think book ratings/reviews are absolutely subjective (even when broken into "objective" criteria) but it seems to me a little more "fair" to do it this way.

I get all of the library books out with all the intentions to read them and then they just never make it into my TBR. I forget that I make buddy reading plans months in advance with no room for other things

A 3 star for me is a mostly meh book. There were parts I enjoyed, but maybe equally things that I didn’t like/bugged me. If someone else gives a book 3 stars, I have the same thought process you do. 😁

There is a lot of conversations by BIPOC happening on youtube about To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods, may want to check some of those out.
Usually if I give a book a 3 it was okay but that was it. I didn’t actively hate it, but it wasn’t a favourite. I would generally read more in the series or by the same author but I wouldn’t be in a big rush about it. I would recommend it to other people. I always feel a little bad when I give a 3 because it means that it was a decent book but I didn’t feel very strongly about it…ah, the curse of indifference.😅
5 stars for favourites, 4 stars for books I enjoyed, 2 stars means it wasn’t for me but someone else might like it, and 1 star means I thought it was terrible and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Fortunately the 1’s are few and far between.

HAHA, so... I think of 3 stars like you as far as it being perfectly average, like I enjoyed my time reading it, probably won't think about it much once I finish the last page. Like it was enjoyable but it's not one I'd go out of my way to recommend to folks. But that's why I usually don't add other people's 3 star reads to my TBR because... I don't NEED a book to be the greatest prose/plot ever, but I do feel like there are so many flippin' books out there to read (1.564 on my list - that used to intimidate me but now that I prioritize reading, I'm like, "Hm... That might last another 10 years....") that I don't want to make time for throwaways. The only time I'll add another person's 3 star to my list is if they describe the storyline, and it sounds interesting. Then I'll let that interested feeling overcome the "3 stars is average" feels.
My solid three stars are I liked it but not as much as a 4

To me a three star is it was a fun time but I won’t remember the characters at the end of the year. When other people say it’s three stars I assume they like it but they may or may not continue with the series
I've been following how Goodreads notates its star system. 3 star is noted as "I liked it" 2 is "it was okay". So basically for me a 3 star and above is a good rating... I've started limiting my 5 stars though, the book has to really blow me away for that honor. I do like that Storygraph has half stars...because sometimes it needs that little decimal to explain in numbers.

I love all the lifestyle stuff with the bookish stuff, I even like the morning routines of buying coffee on the way to work and a little bit of the drive you take. Actually I noticed that there was a lot of fog you were driving in earlier, morning or evening? US isn't it heading into Summer, you're in Spring at the moment aren't you? I'm in Australia so we're in Autumn toward Winter.
That fog was in the morning! We get a lot where we live because summer temps hit us pretty early but it still gets relatively stormy in the afternoon and cools down over night

@@oliviareadsalatte the dragon heart legacy is awesome on Libby's audible. It is set partly in Ireland and it is such a fun experience to listen too. It is slightly more light hearted than the chronicles of the one but I ate that trilogy up too. I have never read her non romanticy books so I am not sure how they compare. Excited to hear your feedback once you tackle them (TBRs never shrink ever lol)

Three stars to me, is a book that was average but enjoyable, that has the potential to be a higher rating for a different person. A book that doesn't have any glaring flaw, but didn't blow me away.
I don't think 3 stars is bad at all. 3 stars for me is "I liked it" but I didn't LOVE it or make me feel any type of emotions. Even on Goodreads if you hover over the 3 stars it says "I liked it". I don't ever rate anything lower than 3 stars because if I feel its going to be I DNF it. 3 stars and up I usually keep reading. Theres so many books to read and I let others who will love it and rate it higher to enjoy them.

Lol i never rate 1 star, 2 is like i did not like it, 3 is it's okay, its aight, 4 it that was good, kept me entertained, and 5 is like amazing, one of my faves! Lol but it varies. Sometimes in the moment ill give something a 5 stars, and then a week later i cant remember the main characters name 😂😂😂
For me 3 star is average, good book. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. 4 star I really enjoyed and 5 star I loved/obsessed with.
A three star book to me is kind of a meh book. It means I liked it but I didn't love it. Likely wouldn't buy it and probably wouldn't reread it. I don't feel like it's wasted time, but it just was kind of there. Not great not terrible. Four Star means I like it a lot and five star means it's a favorite. And a favorite could mean maybe it's not the best written book but the vibes and experience was great and it was very entertaining. A lot of people I know will only rate a book five stars if it's really good writing but that's not the case for me.
Yeah it's the one thing that I hate about goodreads. Every 3 star rating gets a lot of people commenting their disbelief 🙄 for me 1 is awful, waste of time, 2 is meh, 3 is good, I enjoyed it but nothing special, 4 is great, i loved it, and 5 is amazing, I will think about this book for a while
If I rate a book 3 stars, it kept me entertained, but I wouldn't read again and will not always remember it.
