my first vr headset was something similar in 2015, i don't consider 3dof smartphone vr cases "real vr" but mine was a bit different.... i installed on it a bunch of sensors, using wii bar to track movements, no motion controller, only pad or mouse and keyboard, i played the entire of half life 2 in this way. it was still horrible, but i felt like i was in the future before everyone. oh good old times...

I used to have this type of kit, before buying the Meta Quest 2. It's important to say that, the cheap googles actually give a good idea of what pro-VR is, so if you're really curious, that it's satisfying. But forget to play games, it's more for VR videos, 360 videos, etc. This cheap controller it's just a mouse in a thumbstick. The buttons doesn't work for gaming, they're more for confirmation or volume. If you really want to play beat saber, etc, better to save money and buy the Meta Quest 2 or 3. If you're out of money and desperately want to know how it looks the VR sense of depth, it's mildly satisfying, there's a few simple games that doesn't involve hand movements, that you can actually experiment, and videos of course (yep, even adult movies, xhamster has an entire section just for VR 😅)
