Great job on this episode!!! You do an amazing job on all your episodes. That last scene you shared of them in the parking lot across from The Cadillac Hotel in Venice Beach was also where the first basketball scene in White Men Can’t Jump was filmed.
I got to see when they filmed some scenes in Imperial Beach and got to meet actor Victor Rasuk, who plays Tony. I could have met Heath Ledger, but a crew member said he had left set a couple of minutes before I got there.
@@GoingtotheMovies definitely did, I live in San Diego so I need to check out some of the spots I haven’t been to yet like that ditch in chula. I skateboard so would be cool to get a clip or more
Definitely plan to get a lot more out there for 2024! For the fonts, I used H74 Viper Black (looked the most like the Dogtown graffiti style to me) - can't remember where I found that one. The other font I used was Dunbar (super bold italic) which is from Adobe's library.
@@GoingtotheMovies I used whats know as artistic freedom. RUclips is like Punk Rock~Your biggest fans spit on you. I enjoyed your video and appreciate the work. It was at the original house. They dug up the pool, put in the dog bowl, filmed there, then put the pool back how it was. Home owners let them use the property.
I absolutely LOVE that you got the bug again‼️ Once a skater... (btw - you snapped that heelflip really nicely! You're not Neen yet but you're waaaaay ahead of most in the style depot brotha). Love the channel and you and 80's Life (also a skater from waaay back) should totally pull the colab💯

its kinda crazy thinking about the transition of automobiles at that time.. in that picture of the zephyr surf shop there is a 1950s era vehicle and a 1970's era vehicle side by side and they look like they are from entirely different centuries.. and ive often thought about how far cars have come in the last 10-15 years. but seeing that makes me realize how relatively little they've actually progressed, interiors have gone a long ways in the last 10 years. exteriors are a little different but the exterior transition from the 50s to the 70s was truly drastic. when i see a 20 year old car today id hardly give it a second thought. id hardly notice any difference between a 20 year old car and a 10 year old car.. but seeing a 20 year old car in 1970 seems like an ancient relic.. or even when skip talks about how the boardwalk was 40 years old, nowadays its like 'ok that means it was built in the 80's.. so what?' but thinking about 40 years before the 1970's means it was built in the 1930's which means it was truly historic..
Great video. They name drop the beach I learned to boogie board at. In the scene where the workers are loading up the van to go surf, they say Rincon A.K.A Bates Beach
In the scene with Jay and the gas pump he is resetting it to zero. Pumps like that you removed the nozzle and hit the lever that reset the meters to zero and then pumped your gas. When finished you returned the lever and nozzle and the quantity and amount due remained until the next use. We actually pumped our gas before paying.
The Imperial Beach pier was used. I was born and raised in IB. They actually built a wrecked looking pier onto ours. Surfed many mornings while they were shooting some scenes.
@@DevonFelkner I’m sorry, I don’t understand the confusion. I’m at Imperial Beach explaining how they used the pier in the video, even showing behind-the-scenes clips of Imperial Beach and showing the stair wall that’s visible in the background. Maybe you were referring to the wide shot of the pier that was done at Venice Beach? The book that production put out shows the before image and explains how they used CGI to add the pier to that shot (also shown in the video).
@32:22 that is a photo of Steve Cathey. He wasn't a Z-boy. Lots of people mistakenly post it as Jay Adams, but is G&S Teamrider Steve Cathey , the photo used by Skateboarder Magazine eventually became the logo for Sector 9
Awesome info! Thanks. I couldn’t find the name of the skater when I grabbed that image. I reverse searched it and got a couple different names but I ended up using it because I was struggling to find hi res images of the specific Z Boys I was looking for.
My good friend Brad Bemis was the location Manager for this film. He hired me to shoot scouting photos of many of the piers in California. He passed in 2016, he could have eliminated a lot of your guesswork.
Glad to be able to visit them with you! I consider certain people “stewards” of certain movie locations and you are no doubt that for Lords of Dogtown. So glad this video came to be!
You’re clueless on the zephyr shop? It’s Dogtown coffee now! Still there! Open every day! Don’t know what church you wandered into but that’s not the old shop! Go on google maps and look around!
Boy, you just didn't pay attention at all. This video covers the locations where the movie Lords of Dogtown filmed at. They recreated the Zephyr shop at that church location in San Pedro, which is why we visited. Watch the video again, and try absorbing the information provided to you before spouting your mouth off.
Man, absolutely incredible camera and editing work. My attention was captured from beginning to end. Bravo !
Hey that's a great compliment considering how long this one is 😂 Thank you so much!
Disney's Brink movie street shot were also filmed just down the from there in San Pedro
Yep! Keep an eye out for that one
I love the overlays in the videos and would love to do this one day. Keep up the great work.

The attention to detail in this video is phenomenal.

Yep, the one in VA Beach! I won’t be able to make it this year unfortunately.

why does the church logo look like Alva logo? does he preach there?
Haha, didn't notice the logo similarities when I was there. Maybe he's trying to compete with Hosoi.
You called Alva and asked where the pool is….? That’s a grom move. Tony knows the rules~Never Tell
I asked where the MOVIE one WAS before it was DESTROYED on a location related Instagram post he was already engaging with
