I'm still heartbroken over this. It's so haunting to watch again.

She had everything the skills, artistry, jumps, spins, athleticism and just pure grace. I cried watching this live. Skating with any injury is tough and with so much pressure, I believed she showed what grace under pressure truly is.
Definitely my favorite female skater of all time.

It was bittersweet watching this performance. I wish she didn't have those 2 falls, but at the same time, she said in an interview that she knew she had to skate the rest of the program strong after the mistakes. I believe that had she not fallen, we might not have been able to witness selling the rest of her program so beautifully. It's too bad she can rarely hit both programs in one competition, she would've almost undoubtedly be the Olympic champion had she did. She always had great spirals, but the ones she did here were absolutely breathtaking 💜

If Sasha had been consistent with her jumps (and fixed the flutz) she would have been unbeatable, everything else is absolute perfection

I looked forward to watching this skate all day after enjoying her short program the night before. I put on my pajamas, made popcorn and got into positioning. My heart sunk (and broke) when she missed the two jumps. It was hard to watch the rest. The music is so mournful. I’ve watched it many times since and still feel that way a little but the rest of the performance is so breathtaking it’s worth it.

The fact that she fell and how it makes our heart break while watching her fall, ironically makes this program so much more dramatic and epic. It somehow captures the tragic love of Romeo and Juliet so well . Til this day, I come back to watch this masterpiece.

She didn’t deserve the gold for the 2 falls, but yes, the exquisite rest of her program makes it all worth it to an extent. Her and Katarina Witt both play the character in their programs so well, Katarina WAS Carmen, and Sasha IS Juliet, so even if they don’t win, they still steal the show

I just knew from the look in her eyes at the boards that she wasn't going to skate clean. That and the injury she had but i really think it was nerves that did her in not the injury. Still she had great fight to keep going and land the rest of her jumps. Oh what could have been.

Such grit and determination after burying herself in the first two jumping passes. Usually, a skater's program falls apart after such technical difficulties. To have kept it together is a quality lacking in such skaters as Debi Thomas and Caryn Kadevy. Debi would at least fight, though unsuccessfully, whereas Kadevy doubled everything. Sasha should have been so proud of herself for what she was able to accomplish here. I don't think Sasha was Juliet at all here. This program's tragic opening had a happy ending. Remember, she skated this with a groin injury. After the adrenaline kicked in, there was no stopping her.
