These mixes also do not represent the original versions, these tracks are based from original NSF rips, and are not recordings from an actual NES/Famicom, check below for the original OST in NSFe format! Salutations fellow listeners! It's time for a 8BS revamp of another classic Hirokazu Tanaka soundtrack, its Kid Icarus: Angel Land Story! A wonderful OST that is another classic staple soundtrack to anyone that knows NES music, and is the origin of many classic Nintendo themes, such as the Title BGM, while the beginning has pretty sharp pitches (that I did lower on this video) that tests anyone's ear, the rest of the OST is a memorable and pleasant sounding experience! With of course "Stage 1: The Underworld" being the most well known theme from this game, as due to the difficulty of this game, most players didn't make it past the first three vertical levels, and thus this theme in a way became the "Kid Icarus Theme" because of how often it was heard along with the catchy "Death God Theme" and "Game Over" jingle! But the other Stage Themes are memorable along with "Boss" and "Labyrinth (Fortress Section)" are also very catchy and carry that "spooky and mysterious" vibe. The entire OST is great, thanks to Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka's wonderful compositions under the 2nd version of his Sound Driver, which Metroid uses as well due to being developed and released around the same time as Kid Icarus. But a very loved soundtrack and for good reason, Hirokazu Tanaka is a musical genius!
This game is also well known for its brutal difficulty, especially at the start with the first three vertical levels (which are all part of "Stage 1", and even then moving on past that, you got the Labyrinth sections at the end of each main Stage section, with accompanying hordes of enemies and an end boss section. But once you get used to the controls as well, and figure out strategies and exploits, it becomes much easier to handle. But the game is still good, and Graphically looks beautiful with so many color variations, the designers did great making the world of Kid Icarus feel unique and sprawling! Also what makes this game similar to Metroid is being released first in Japan on the Famicom Disk System, featuring three tracks with unique musical variations due to the use of the one FDS sound channel. I'll get to that version eventually as well, but wanted to focus this OST purely on the RP2A03 sound channel NES version! This game also had additional Developer support from TOSE who is most likely responsible for the Programming of the game, so they get co-developer credit on this title along with the R&D1 division of Nintendo at that time!
Glad to get another classic Hip Tanaka soundtrack up, so enjoy another OST folks! Thanks as always to my Patreon supporters and Tiers 2 & 3 which are still the same names I've had since starting the Patreon thanks sections on these videos so thank you SO MUCH to all! Check out my Patreon if you'd like the join the names on screen here at the end of these videos, thanks everyone! www.patreon.com/nikotengoku ❤
Hiro Tanaka has made some insanely good NES music. When you hear something like this or the Metroid ost, his composition choices are so unique and recognizable
Is he the father or hitomi tanaka 😂😂
The eggplant wizard levels have some of my favorite video game music of all time!
Labyrinth stuck with me all these years somehow, but the whole thing is great
I wish Nintendo would give us a 2D remake of this game.
So much better in stereo
My uncle was obsessed with this game. I remember watching in awe as he played for endless hours and beat the game.
I love this soundtrack, and this game is the type of game that you have to play it often enough to keep your skill up or you will get destroyed so easy in later levels....well at least for me lol.
Such a random addition of the old British folk song "The Girl I Left Behind Me" in the overworld theme. As a kid, I even thought it felt out of place, but now knowing the song's origin, it completely baffles me why it was inserted.
I remember when the NES first came out, I liked this game and Castlevamia the most until I played Rygar! All 3 of them have great soundtracks!
Rygar is an amazing game
I always liked the music in this game, especially the opening, the fortresses, and the Underworld themes.
Great música AND game
This game felt fascinating as a kid, no doubt the music played its fair role conveying the feeling. Haven't gotten very far though.
Classic music! Thanks for another banger, Niko :D
The best game ever since my childhood!
Thank you for all the work!
Well, The Games That Used Hirokazu Tanaka's First Sound Driver were Balloon Fight, Gyromite, Stack-Up, Wrecking Crew, Duck Hunt, Hogan's Alley, Wild Gunman and Urban Champion.
Another great post, thank you!
I remember getting up at 6 when sleeping at my cousins house to play this ...
Which games was Tanaka's first sound driver used?
Thank you master for this reminder ❤
Anyone up for some Saturday Morning Episodes on NBC of Captain N' The GameMaster.❤😂
this channel is gold
Un muy buen soundtrack que pocos recuerdan cuando se piensa en buenos soundtracks de juegos de NES
The game for which 99% of people never saw past level 2 due to constantly being bumped off a platform, falling and dying.
Good Job :D
May you do Bloodstained Curse of the moon 2? I really would like to hear The Titan's Sarcophagus theme stereo.
Please listen, I highly think you will agree with me!
There is a copy on sale new ebay now
Are there differences between the NES and Famicom Disk System versions of the Kid Icarus soundtrack?
How about Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal from Gameboy Color?
Not bad.Come on!
