    "It's a GE product alright."Did anyone ever insult his bosses more often than Dave? I don't think he ever forgave them for that fruit basket incident.

    And here I thought I had seen all his crazy suits before. Never heard of this one before! The shopping for canned goods part was great! Trying to think of all his suits...velcro suit, cereal suit, alka-seltzer suit, chips and dip suit...and now I see there is a fire suit clip which I've never seen either...and a sponge suit too!

    My Sis and I, as kids, ADORED Letterman. In the age of Carson, who I know is widely regarded as a genius (even at 53, the reasons escape me), Letterman REALLY stood out. There were only 3 major networks at the time (pre-Fox), so a very limited number of late night hosts. I think Letterman’s show started when I was 10-11 years old, and his stunts were so great: dropping various objects from a tower, running over viewer-requested items with a steamroller (Barbie’s Dream House being the one I most remember), the Velcro suit, Stupid Pet Tricks…at the time, he was the only talk show host who genuinely made us laugh.
    The man is still a great interviewer, but I can’t bear to watch him do it now…it makes me long for the nights my Sis and I would sneak out of our rooms -same as we did with SNL-and watch someone who really appealed to us, back in the days when “Late Night…” was followed by the National Anthem and then bars on the screen or static until some boring-a$$ morning show came on.

    What a legend this man was!! And still is I suppose....

    • @belcanto116
      @belcanto116 Год назад +2

      Still is, I agree, and it would be awful to see him at his age still doing stunts…he’s a great interviewer, but I’ve never really enjoyed celebrity interviews. The non-celebrity bits and very random kind of jokes-someone brought a red tree frog onto the show, and Letterman said, “I bet he’d be good on a cracker,” which my Sis and I still quote to each other-were the best!
      I hate to compare him to anyone, because he was his own, ground-breaking thing, but he def paved the way for Kimmel, Fallon, and Meyers.
      Never understood the appeal of Leno, and I guess I never will.

    It's about time they repeat this for 2020, but build a suit of neodymium magnets.

    That happened to my TV once years and years ago. I put a couple big speakers right next to it, and the magnets inside distorted the colors. It wasn't permanent, though, if I recall correctly, I just needed to unplug it for awhile. Maybe I just got lucky.

      +nrrork Some old monitors also had a degauss feature that fixed it, and they make external degaussers too. But yes there are ways to undo it.
