@Bavarian Autosport I have a 1998 e38 740il. I've been tuning it up a little here a little there. I've owned it for about 2 months now. When I bought it it would have a little shake every now and again. Eventually it became constant. Recently I put 8 new NGK-R plugs in it and it ran perfect for about 10 mins. Then it started to have a little engine shake again but worse than before. I checked the codes and they were for the 2 postcat o2 sensors and the passenger side precat sensor. I got 4 working oem sensors off of a wrecked but running 98 740il. Installed them all and reset the codes. I pulled the plugs out and the drivers side were lightly frosted and the passenger side were fouled and black. I now have p0130 as the only code and I put my old bosch platinum +4's back in it. It runs smoother than the single prong ngk-r's but the mpg's are worse. Should I just swap one of my old precat o2 sensors back in it? And lastly is there anything else that would cause one side of the plugs to be fouled that wouldn't affect the other side other than the o2 sensor? Thanks. Love your videos.
I have a 2008 318i with N43 2 litre engine, which I understand has one upstream and one downstream O2 sensor. Are these both replaced when O2 sensor fault is seen? Are they accessible from above or below? Thanks.
Hi I watched your video here, can you tell me what color each corresponding sensor is to be bank 1 bank 2 etc pre catalytic converter and post catalytic converter for the 2006 X5 3.0i sav. Note: I replaced engine with a 2004 BMW 330xi AWD engine wit 63k miles. It's also the M54B30 type engine which was in my 2006. I am not completely clear if both vacuum hose lines are ran the same..bcuz I now have a vacuum leak with electric valve missing a hose line from it an to it. My EGR valve doesn't have a hose from it, however the replacement engine did have it coming from one that was attached to engine b4 being put in my BMW X5. Any thoughts on that aspect specifically would be greatly appreciated...
Hi, this is a great video. I have a question. I have a 1996 328i. The scanner I used, gave me a lecture of Bank 2 sensor 1. Do you mind explain to me which one is which. I think you referred to it but i am still little confused. Maybe by telling me in in which minute of the video I might understand better
I purchased a Bosch 13884 Oxygen Sensor, OE Type Fitment position upstream. But I stil do not know which sensor is the one that needs to be replaced. Would you recommend to change all of them? it has 131,000 miles on the motor
Any recommendations on which O2 sensors are most likely to fail ? Is it the pre-cat or post-cat ? I realize that O2 sensors sometime enter a "soft fail" where they are slow to react and may not trigger a code.
Great video and instruction as always! Did I note a small amount of anti-seize on the replacement sensor threads? What are your recommendations on the use of anti-seize for this application? Thanks again. I really enjoy your videos and products for our beloved BMWs.
The sensors are shipped with a dab of aluminum based anti-seize on the threads. This should be adequate. If you did wish to add more, use the aluminum type and be very careful to prevent any from getting on the sensor's end.
I've taken my 05 MINI Cooper S to a shop to have both sensors replaced at 116k miles with Bosch sensors. Days later the check engine light turns on. I bring it back and they said that the bank 1 sensor 1 (P0130) code popped up. So they replace it again. A couple days later the check engine light turns on again now they want to replace with NGK sensors. I don't want to waste my time but are there issues with non OEM sensors on these MINIs or does the dealer need to clear codes themselves? Dealer is an hour from me and an inconvenience. What should I tell my shop because I feel they should eat the cost.
i have the same problem , i replaced twice but after a few kilometers the light pop up again :( the service workshop pull out a used one from a mini that s have no inspection light or error for the O2 sensor , it didnt work for me once we install it. did you find any solution for yours ??
+mohamad Zeinedine yeah. I actually had to bring the car in a couple times but the issue was resolved after installing the NGK sensors. For some reason, Bosch doesn't work if you're going the non OEM way. They ended up replacing them free of charge. I just wasted time.
Late question for an older video. My 2003 330i is saying i have a cylinder 4 misfire. I've replaced, all vaccum hoses, DISA, intake boot, and coil packs, plugs, and even the coil pack harness itself. Is it likely that my o2 sensors are faulted? 129k miles. If so, would i need to replace all four, or just the sensors for bank 1 and 2. P0171, P0174 codes are what is showing. Thanks in advance.
I have a 01 330ci and I was getting those same codes for the longest time. Replaces hoses fuel filter, fuel pump, o2 sensors, coil packs. Then finally just bought a whole new MAF and it fixed the problem never had a problem since.
Is there any difference in locations of the sensors between this engine and the n62? Please show some V8 owners some love and make more videos for our engines. I think the M54 owners have plenty of videos........Thanks!
Miss you guys!

@@Kiev182 yes. It's recommended to change them all just like you do when replacing your brakes

What was wrong? MAF?
+George Palmer yeah sorry should have said MAF sensor
+Tripp Sullivan I replaced it a month or so ago. Light went off for like 4 days then decided to come back on. Now it's leaking coolant lol
+Acclimatising I actually just replaced a coolant line myself lol it's like a never ending cycle
Thanks the video , very important oxygen sensor tool.
does the 2003 325xi have a fifth o2 sensor upstream after cat
awesome, I need to do this soon! thanks!
What size is the tool?
22mm
