I love the am5 so much. I began imaging less and less over the years because my rig had gotten so heavy and complicated. The am5 has gotten me excited about imaging again. I even put my edge hd 8" on it the other day, just to do some visual on jupiter snd saturn. Ive had that scope for several years and have never put an eye piece in it, because visual just wasnt worth setting up my old mount. Zwo did a great job with it, even with the choice of materials. The machined aluminum and carbon fiber make it light, but not so much that it feels cheap.
love it - I just placed an order for the AM5 last week ( along with cloudy skies 😵💫) expecting shipment any day. I was contemplating the unit for most of the year, then I watched your NEAF interview. Looking forward to follow up vids on the AM5 thank you sir for what you do for the community
I have seen more than a few people prefer heavier bases because of worries about it tipping over. I know I do get some wind so this might be a concern.
If I do swap things around I will of course record it. The iOptron has been such a good mount to me though. This one will have to impress me a lot to return the GEM45
Oh Christmas came early. Look forward to your review of the am5 Ben. Also do forgive the rooster. He was only trying to add atmosphere to the video. The new place is really interesting.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel that’s such a cute act, may be next time you hold him instead of a Len’s .. not joking or pulling your leg. I am very curious to have a look at him.
Enjoy! It's a great mount!
Sorry about the clouds next week.... wrapping up necessary purchases before Cherry Springs Star Party :P
You and me both. I just hope i can get all of it working before it.
Very nice piece of kit - on my wish list.

They sure did.
I just got the same kit. I really like it, tracks very well. Clear skies!

It actually cleared here last night and is going to be clear here tonight. Maybe it will not bing clouds.
Hi thanks for the unboxing @10.00 what length are the M6 screws ? a freind just bought a used AM5 and they are missing 😞 cheers
From memory I would say they are 15-20mm long.
Nice, looking forward to your testing it.
Very cool rig. Here's what the AM5 looks like on top of a (red) T-Pod : Cloudy Nights AM5 alternative tripod ? Thanks !

Very helpful video. I hope they come out with an AM7 for 70 lbs
Me too. If this one runs well I think I will defiantly be buying one.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel Pegasus NYX-101 can carry up to 30kg with counterweight, just FYI.
Love the vid. I am anxious about the visual setup you mentioned at the end. I'm waiting with bated breath. 😛
Tomorrow morning :)
@@TheNarrowbandChannel YEAH!!!
Excellent Video as usual Ben, cannot wait for the review of the Svbony Sv550 127mm triplet
Me too. it will be here soon I hope. I have to get it setup for cherry Springs.
I also own a GEM45 with the iOptron Lite-Roc tripod. Please let us know how you set up the PE200 pier extension on the iOptron if you decide to do so.

Hi Ben - you mentioned that you're waiting for a camera - which one did you buy?
I did not buy it. It will be the 2600MC Duo. ZWO is sending me one next week for testing.
Looking at the AM5 or the Ioptron hem
The HEM mount has one large advantage. And the is that cables can be routed through the mount. I will be bringing this up in the next video.
Great video! And geez 99?? I thought we were the same age. In 99 I was only 5 😂
My first scope was a tasco hand me down in 97 :)

You know I went to chase him away and he just came up to me like I was going to feed him. My chickens are all very tame.

@@druid6605 Ill have to get him in a video some how.
@@TheNarrowbandChannel please do. I am liking your new place more and more.
@@druid6605 We love it too. Could be more country but for now it a huge upgrade.
You don't like generic tripod spreader plates....? The AM5 bag version doesn't really impress. Get a Berlebach Planet (or Uni) and don't look back.
I have never heard of those. Have a link?
I am so jealous. I'd love to have one of these and an asiair to drive it but we are getting crushed by this democrat economy. Ugh.
I know this depression has been going on for two years now.
