I love u-turns and people knowing what to turn around in the on ramps if traffic is seriously backed up.

I've lived in the Raleigh area since 2007. I have to agree with a couple of the Cons & all of the pros. Road construction is an inconvenience, but worth it in the end. I love how I-40 is much wider going through Garner now. I can't wait for NC540 to be completed between Apex & Clayton. Speeders need to slow down & learn how to drive properly. The businesses closing at 10:00 used to bother me, as I was originally from the DC area, but I'm fine with it now since I usually get ready for bed at 10:00pm nowadays. They definitely need to make the area more walkable. I know I've walked along the roadside in grass many times before, and everybody relies on cars in the suburbs which leads to heavier traffic. The bug problem is found in other sunbelt cities as well. The growth is nice to see, and it gives me Raleigh pride even if the growth contributes to the bad traffic. The job market is great because you can get jobs in any kind of careerpath; not just retail, medical, & tech. Home prices are high, but at least they aren't like the prices in the DC area where I grew up. RDU is an awesome airport to fly out of. I'll be flying to Boston for a long weekend this Saturday, and it usually takes me about 20 minutes to get through TSA most of the time. Location is what keeps me in Raleigh mostly. I love that I can drive to DC or Baltimore in 4-5 hours, most of Florida takes about 8-10 hours, Myrtle Beach is just over 3 hours away, and Atlanta is about 7 hours. What could be a better city than Raleigh?

People in Raleigh can’t drive!!!! If it’s rain they pull over and wait. It’s weird to people coming from up north that drive in the snow 😂😂

I’ve been here since ‘89 and have this advice. Be careful WALKING downtown Raleigh. Yes it is VERY walkable, but you have a soft body, not a fiberglass + metal one. So, be careful walking downtown. You might get hit. Why? Cars. Most accurately, the person behind the wheel. Don’t assume vehicles will stop, or even SEE a pedestrian. (walking person). I experienced a car suddenly go into reverse, on a One Way street, going the wrong way. My reflexes saved me.

We've been here since January, and aside from some INTENSE tailgating, and a bad start at our local school, everything else here is amazing, and we plan to be here for a very long time! :-)

In regards to home prices in Raleigh vs cities like Nashville and Austin, Nashville and Austin are much larger and more attractive cities than Raleigh and they offer a lot more and grow at a much faster rate. I I’m from Nashville and moved to Raleigh and even I miss living in a much larger city I also feel a lot safer here in Raleigh just the two cities are in two different leagues. Nashville and Charlotte are more comparable and are like sister cities. They also share ideas with each other. Raleigh has a long way to go and grow. I hope Raleigh tackles its infrastructure issues because it’s still very tiny and has room to do so before it gets too late. This is my one long con about Raleigh. PS if you want to see bad drivers, I will invite you to check out my hometown of Nashville Tennessee. We don’t call it Crashville for no reason lol

Regarding all those cons, I live in Miami already so if I ever moved to Raleigh I think I'll adapt pretty well 😄 Drivers here are seriously bad, like you said either too slow or way too fast, but also because so many migrants come here a lot don't know where they're going which adds to the frustration. I for one hope to move there one day, my sister used to live there for 12 years and I recently visited Feb. 2023 and absolutely loved it. Especially the brewery scene!

Drivers in Miami are terrible! Much worse than anywhere in NC. Thanks for watching! Should you decide to make the move, be sure to give us a call

Left Miami Last year. Loving NC best decison we ever made. Drivers in Miami are bad and don't carry car insurance. At least insurance is dirt cheap here compared to florida. They just drive really fast here because there isn't as much traffic!

@@SHELTECH4 Ugh don't tell me about uninsured drivers, a few months ago some guy backed into my right side as I was leaving a parking lot and he didn't have insurance at all! And I had just got my new car exactly one month before that!

I’ve only been here a little while but to weigh in on the drivers here - they are a different breed. I drive the speed limit, in the right lane because I wanna stay outta peoples way here. The road rage, weaving in & out & speeding here is next level. Last week a car cut me off & almost clipped our front end & then decided to purposely drive 35m/hr in front of me, they wouldn’t let me get around them & kept changing lanes infront of me when I would change. I ended up having to take an exit abruptly to lose them. It was terrifying with kids in the car! I felt like they were looking to pick a fight! It’s not normal. I looked up articles online & apparently it’s a regular thing here 🫣
