You got the metaphor of "Winter without snow", the song is about love without reciprocation, just how a winter without snow is just gray and dull, devoid of the clean child like joy the snow offers so is the one way love a completely crushing and dark feeling that pins your soul down and Diana acted that brilliantly as the "complete" artists (as you said) that she is.
Diana is the real deal not only in one very specific thing but in everything she puts her mind in to, she is a true all rounder.
