    Scott Summers would've been proud of you. Wonderful to see a 20 plus year old XR being manhandled with such tenacity and skill, and you are obviously very fit! I have a CRF450L & a rebuilt XRR. My heart still beats for the XRR.It even sounds menacing, and has monster torque compared to modern bikes. Keep up the good work.

  • @nbcevilduck

    On this bike he used 1 gear, only the bottom 1/3 of the rev range and never cracked past half throttle... and is still going 10 timess the speed id be willing to do.
    For people who dont really know what an xr650r is... its a full on race bike that dominated desert races for a decade. In this video a pro level rider is still only able to use less than half the bikes power.
    Extremely impressed with the rider and the bike here... this is a bike thatll do you 130 with street gearing and yet is flying through single track. Nuts.

    • @crooney82
      @crooney82 2 года назад +1

      Yes. My brother has an xr650R and I have anDRZ400K. The DRZ400K is the real desert race bike that came out in 2000 with 50hp and the xr650R feels twice as fast as my DRZ. It easily goes 100mph. Anybody who compares this monster to a modern 450 hasn’t ridden one…or hasn’t ridden one with all of the California tuning removed.

    Many already know this but it took me a while to figure this out so ill share it here.
    Start procedure after a crash for xr650r with stock carb
    -turn off fuel
    -hold throttle wide open, hold kill switch, pull in decompression lever, kick through 5 times to clear it out
    -no throttle, fuel still off, start as normal, do not touch the throttle
    -once it starts turn the fuel back on rev her up a few times and your ready to roll
    I usually deploy the kichstand or find a tree for this to save energy as well. Crashing and restarting these bikes during a race takes more energy for me then actually racing them.

      Indeed man! Has happened to me in the middle of 80-100 mile desert rides. Pain in the ass when I’m already tired lol I tried to remember this but I didn’t know if you do it with the fuel on or off. Happened once when i stalled on a hill and once when I took a low speed spill. Took me like 20 minutes to start! Has me wanting a newer bike with an estart lol I’ll never get rid of my brp, but I want to add a lighter estart bike to the stable.
