Cool video. But how will you power your monitor and focus motor (tilta M or N) at the same time? Vaxis hasn't any free slots to power any devices. V-mount battery has only one free d-tap slot. So, is it impossible to power focus motor?
@@HugoWill I saw only one, Moman 99Wh. Or you power your monitor directly with NP-F batteries? Also, can you tell me lengths of your cables, you use on handheld and Ronin setup? 2pin-power to Dtap, SDI to SDI. Did you use SDI Isolator cables?
Hi Hugo, I didn't see a link for the bottom Tilta plate - the V-mount one. For the RS2 that you mentioned in the video, it caught my attention. It just be an oversight on my part.
Hugo, great review! Please advise how do you clamp SMALLRIG Lightweight Matte Box to your 95mm diameter lens? In your video you kind of have direct clamp system from lens to the mattbox attaching it without any threaded 95-114 step up rings.
they dont, even though they are supposed since I bought them because the were as proved on RED website, but they took them down from the website after all.. anyways, they work pretty good
Hugo, did you have any issues connecting the PortKeys to the RED Komodo while using a PL Mount lens? I recently purchased the PortKeys BM5 WR and I've tried connecting it wirelessly but don't get an image. I do get camera control but no image at all. Any insight would be helpful!
Hi, thanks for the informative video. Do you have any experience with Variable ND for Komodo? I'm using Canon SB so no Revolva or Canona ND for me :-( but I still I need to have some convinient solution for 1-5 stops with no sharpness reduction, no x pattern, no or very minimal color cast (the less the better :-) ).
@@HugoWill Thanks, I will invest in classic IRND at some point but for now I need the variableND for jobs, where shuffling filters is not optimal. You never use vNDs?
my right ear is a little LEFT out
Sorry. Missed it…
hahahaha
This has been the most helpful video for me while building out my rigs for Komodo. Much love brother thank you.
glad it was helpful!
Good stuff!
I'm still waiting on mine so these types of vids help me to understand what accessories to stockpile till it arrives
It's really great that you've thought through every detail . Everything is clear and to the point!
Thanks 🙏
super helpful. if you change anything, please post an update! cheers
Ok. Happy The video is helpful
Awesome video you just like me for specific modular rigging but with a bigger budget, great planing!
Thanks! 👍
beyond helpful thank you !! Hopefull for more Komodo Videos !!
Thank you for the information, very helpful video.
Cool video.

Vaxis hasn't any free slots to power any devices.
V-mount battery has only one free d-tap slot.
So, is it impossible to power focus motor?
That’s a downside of the Vaxis but most of batteries have two d-tap so usually isn’t a problem at all

Thanks. Just added the link
Great video, but ah my ears! I think you encoded in mono left ear only :(
sorry, sound isn't my strongest side
Awesome gear and rig, nice toys.
Thanks
Very interesting video! but next time please put your voice in mono, it spoils a bit the video.
Sorry. I was sure it was in mono…
Hugo thank you for this video , how is the Vestax Rx and Tx latency for pulling focus ? Also doses it overheat as I read on some review? Thx
It’s possibly to pull focus, not ideal , but absolutely fine. And it didn’t overheat on me ever… didn’t know that’s a thing.. :-)

Small rig matte box comes with all kinds of adapters for that. The are all threaded but you can find your size
So much gear and the sound is MONO! :|
Where can I find that amazing case? Thank you for the great overview!
You’re welcome. I’ve listed the links in the description
Have you had problems with the vaxis?
Now that almost a year has passed, what are your thoughts on the Vaxis ATOM 600 KV Wireless?
Using it a lot. Very solid unit. It get the job done
Do those Hedbox batteries show info data on the Komodo? Thanks
they dont, even though they are supposed since I bought them because the were as proved on RED website, but they took them down from the website after all.. anyways, they work pretty good
@@HugoWill Hey just curious if you would still recommend these batteries?
Very detailed, thorough, and appreciate that you put every link in the description! What would the most simple, minimal setup cost? Thanks.
Each of my setups is about 10k in total.
But I think minimum setup would be around 8
I love this thanks so much for making this video. I would love to talk to you I have some questions !!! I have 2 komodos and 1 dragon dsmc2
Sure, let me know how can I help
Hi quick question: do you leave the SDI always connected on the vaxis?
Yes, most of times
@@HugoWill no worries on frying the SDI with the vaxis connected and powering on and off?

It doesn’t send image wirelessly. Only camera control

For high performance nd I personally use a matte box with 4x5.6 firecrest IRND

@@madmadboy I use VND when speed is key and color shifting and performance can be sacrificed.
Polar pro VND have a very good performance
@@HugoWill Thanks, I will check the Polar Pro.
Great
