- IHC CONTINUUM A series showcasing the work of some torch bearers of our Performing Arts. The next generation carrying forward the legacy with their passion and talent. This week we feature Odissi exponent, Sujata Mohapatra, disciple and daughter-in-law of the late Guru Padma Vibhushan Kelucharan Mohapatra, the legendary exponent of Odissi. She is a recipient of many awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Nritya Choodamani Award, Nritya Sagar Award, and Pandit Jasraj Award amongst others.
Sujataji, this is one of my favorite Pallavis! And you are perfect! Watching you is like actually watching a sculpture come to life!!
Very beautiful dance
Beautiful. Sujata is completely immersed in her dance. And her fidelity to Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra's style is wonderful.
This piece was choreographed by my Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra for the late, great Sanjukta Panigrahi, in 1974 or so, and she performed it at a greater speed. That was Sanjukta's forte. The music is by Pandit Damodar Hota - as he himself told me, in 1986 - who, for many years, was head of the music department of the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya and a disciple of Pandit Omkarnath Thakur.

Wow superb performance . It must be difficult for her to focus on dance in such humid atmosphere . But her hard work and dedication beat the challenging conditions Anyone observed that She was completely drenched in sweat . Look at her hands were glistening .

You clearly are not familiar with the Odissi form lol she is the world renowned Sujata Mohapatra Ji considered to be best Odissi dancer in the world.
@@1nilu1 understanding the meaning of the speaker before writing is said to be the identity of wise, which I have realized that you don't have...let me acquaint you with that I didn't say this about her fame but about the number of people who watched this video...it's better not to speak rather than standing in the rank of those who speak without understanding from the front...by the way I enjoyed the video thoroughly hope you had the same experience.
@@satishchandra8000 Then you clearly are not aware of the presence of Odissi on RUclips. All Odissi videos are under viewed. I am an Odissi dancer and want to revolutionise this beautiful art form and make it more appealing to the masses. I am relocating to India just to do this. Most Odissi performances only manage a few 100 views or few thousand if lucky, its the art form thats underrated.
@@1nilu1 how unfortunate that you are debating on something that you're unable to understand, but I understand that further elucidation in this matter is a pure wastage of my own valuable time...but it doesn't matters you can proceed as much as you want, don't worry about me 'cause I don't get much time to engage myself in useless things...but before I finish I am amazed at your knowledge 'cause the platform on which you're saying all this, there are also some such orrissi dance videos whose no of views are in lakhs...upgrading yours own knowledge is much harder than blindly commenting on others
