I just quit recently and rocket league as well for the same reason. The most nazi-esque strict control of what you can say, even mild things, and egregiously harsh, nonsensical bans and mutes. I had just started up RS again after quitting for like 3 years because my friend convinced me to come back. Joined a nice clan, started grinding, was enjoying it etc.
So why did I quit again? I saw there's a profanity filter you can toggle on and off, sweet! so I figured I can cuss with the people who want to cuss and the people who don't want to see it don't have to. A great system I thought, right?. So I jokingly called someone the 'r' word (not even going to say it here because Ytube is on the same type of bs) knowing it would be starred out anyway, and it was, just like I knew it would be. and yes I know it's offensive and a bad habit, but so what? if you have the profanity filter on, you don't have to see it at all.
and for literally 3 days I was talking to people and getting no reply, thinking I was just getting ignored. Clan mates trying to talk to me, me answering them, then getting so reply thinking im rude etc. Why? THE GAME DOESNT EVEN TELL YOU YOURE MUTED ANYMORE, you get fucking SHADOW BANNED lol. EVEN IF WHAT YOU SAID IS BLOCKED OUT BY THE FILTER. I got a 5+ day shadow mute for saying the r word jokingly to someone (which again, WAS BLOCKED BY CHAT ANYWAY), so for 3 days my clan thought I was just blowing them off ignoring them.
Why have a fucking profanity filter, if you get muted and banned for saying shit anyway? No one at Jagex looked at that system for two seconds and realized how fucking stupid and bullshit that is? It makes NO sense. And over 5 days? Why is it not a 1 or 2 day mute? 5 days for THAT? Insane.
NAH, I'm not sticking around for this shit. Membership renewel automatically canceled, Jagex launcher uninstalled at lightning speed, not even playing my remaining membership days, couldn't care less. Jagex, bro, I have like 900+ other games I can play, YOU are competing against other games for MY time, not the other way around. I was splitting my time between shadow of the erdtree and rs, and it's a REALLY easy choice which one I'm giving 100% of my gaming time to now. I will HAPPILY go elsewhere and spend my time and money not to put up with bullshit like this.
I know they don't care about losing actual dedicated players though since their entire game is propped up by bot membership lmao, literally hundreds of bots running around for months that never get banned, even countless obvious bots on the hiscores. But cool np chat ban me for 5+ days for a word that was bleeped out and not seen by anyone. Bet.

It is a weird grey area, isn’t it? I also think RuneScape should give a little chat pop up that you’re muted.
Should you have said the word? No.
Should they maybe have a warning system that also pops in the chat box saying you got a warning? Yes.
I will say that I’ve never said the ‘r’ word but have put traditional words that are considered profanity and never received a ban. They must see that word as pretty harsh for a heavy ban!
The varrock guards was the thing for me. OSRS dont need to have a politcal view on things

I don't think the problem is "woke" but more so people unable to separate themselves from online fiction/fantasy and instead using it as an extension of themselves. The term "Chronically online" comes to mind to describe these people who have made the internet their real world. In doing so they try to impart their reality into online fantasy and make the game or any form of media reflect their real world instead of leaving it as fantasy where you play a role in a game. Used to be a nonissue in the past but now is a focus truly strange times we are in.
This is actually a great point and appreciate the comment! Chronically online really is a thing and it is usually the other way around. I typically see people chronically online let the ‘online’ seep out into the real world but I see a mega uproar when the turns table.

Responding solely to the title…yes. Too woke for me. All of this “pride” stuff that they have going on, all the “inclusive” things that they are supporting now....…It’s all slowly adding to the deterioration of the game that I once loved from 2003. I take it that you are a facetious content creator, yet I still wish to comment straightforwardly as I am a logical and straightforward man.
I do place humor inside of my content but am always sure to leave discussion and thinking points within the videos! The beautiful thing about my channel is that I never turn away anyone’s opinion and enjoy the discussions within the comments. (:

I mean yeah, no one truly cares about this change and the change itself is not why people are mad, it's the fact that someone in Jagex cares enough to change it. Usually these irrelevant changes mean that more and bigger ones are coming and thats why people are mad, after these small changes go by all of a sudden you get told that Guthix is trans and Zamorak started to go against Zaros because he loved him to much. Long story short people don't care about changes, they hate them because it's a sign that more bigger changes like that are coming

I mean anything sexual has no relevance to RuneScape period. Unless you count the troll quests where he wants to get a babe or Romeo and Juliet. That is so tame compared to even dipping into anything else and actually has some story behind it with the quests (even though Romeo and Juliet is more like a parody). Other than that I think it's low class and disgusting to be be celebrating anything sexual. Especially since orientation is all about what you like to play with, not anything important. If you get rainbow gear, then where can I get my 'buying gf' torso?
