Some explanations of the process would have been nice. So what are the advantages of cold press forming the lead into pellets versus melting the lead into molds. I have a 10 round mold which produces 3 times the amount of pellets in comparison to the time it took to produce those pellets in the video. I'm not saying my method is overall better ... I'm just trying to understand the differences in the pellet forming processes
From what I understand, cold pressed ammunition tend to be much more consistent (depending on how well the press mold was made), whereas casting airgun ammunition can be less so due to the shape of the mold and the lead not fully filling the voids properly. At least, thats what I found. WHEN I make my own ammo, I make lead billets similar to what this gentleman used, then press them to the final shape and so far, there's been less deviation than when I tried casting. 🤷♂

3 minutes to do one side so thats 6 minutes to do 24 pellets, 1 hour 3 minutes to knock out 250 if youve cast your own lead rod from recycling your old lead, pellets collected by the target using a propper pellet catcher or from the game you shot.. ( ballistic autopsy entheusiasts ) you are being 100 % enviromentally green.. just need tool maker to make me one to the specs I already have for a super flat trajectory domed pellet. SIMILAR to one of JSB's better designs with a diferent C of G to the latest ones.. If i can get a press, id start making pellets... being able to reuse my old lead, and ive got kilo's of the stuff and im building a furnace anyway for another project.. I could save a fortune making my own super match grade pellets that are optomised.
Considering the amount of work involved I can only hope that these pellets are of extreme quality because otherwise I would just buy some reasonable pellets. 😂
I would make my own "for the fun and satisfaction" of it. I would also use a very sensitive scale to measure the variability in pellet weight and a micrometer to measure the variability in pellet dimensions. Anyone who just want some pellets to shoot is just going to buy the by the tin, obviously.
Ich habe etwa 50 verschiedene Sorten und jede ist ein wenig anders. So kann ich für jede meiner Waffen jeweils die für die Waffe am präzisesten treffende Sorte ermitteln. Ich weiß nicht wieviel so ein Presswerkzeug kostet, aber billig ist so etwas bestimmt nicht und es ist auch schwierig einen Bleidraht herzustellen mit einer immer gleichbleibenden Bleimischung. Da ist es einfacher und günstiger sehr gute Markendiabolos zu kaufen denke ich mir und meine Lebenszeit ist begrenzt.
