Congrats! May I ask how did you get the job in the hospital?
@@jomo3735 Good morning. I apply directly on the hospital website through careers.
@@KendraRN Thank you. 💖
Your experience on medsurg is so accurate...as a medsurg nurse, it really is nonstop!! Learning how to document as you go is imperative but it's very hard when someone constantly needs you. And yes, the walky-talky patients who are mostly independent always get the least attention & I feel bad about that. It's like well...the other patients need a lot more care so I have to budget my time as best as I can. It sucks but that's how it goes.
Good luck with your semester! :)
I feel like twelve years a slave on my hematology/just another name for med-surg floor. On-the-go for the whole 12 hours. IV antibiotics try to take me out daily; hang one, got another one due soon after (have started y-siting them if compatible). Walkie-talkie gets a "Hey, you okay?" Kool, bye....
I'm a 70 year old retired R.N.of 32 years and I love your posts as well
Another one!!! Thank you so much, thank you for your service. You all set high standards for nursing and patient care ❤️
i really wanted to ask what your thoughts are on the extreme competitiveness in nursing in the United States. I remember for us, our school required students to be matriculated 1 year in their institution to apply to the nursing program, which had 50-75 seats, opened for applications once a year......and every year they would add prereqs like microbiology, organic chemistry, genetics to make it even MORE competitive!! I mean it isn't easy for students to become a nurse in the united states...theres the NLN's, GPAS and we are always saying "theres a MASSIVE shortage in nursing."and then hospitals go and hire nurses, foreign nurses, from the philippines into the work force....now, is this fair to students in the US? Philippines is an exporting country...and the country put a great deal of effort into exporting their nurses to other countries so that they can bring back BILLIONS into their country in return....This happened during the WW2, post korean war...most of south korea's economic boom is significantly contributed to the exportation of their nurses to countries like Germany and the US; nurses were in high demand.. I don't know what to think of this...really....if our system is going to hire outside nurses .,,,,why make the program so rigorous to get into and why are there so FEW programs here in the United States...? ....I just do not like the odds our prospective American nurses need to face to obtain their licenses and registrations..
I did Med Surg most of my 20 year career. I chose it right out nursing school (LPN to start and then later as RN) because I knew it would be my trial by fire to get me where I needed to be with my skills. I later did travel nursing and worked at some larger hospitals and where I was a House Float and also did International Cardiology but Med Surg is by far the hardest on the mind and body. Maybe that’s why I’m no longer able to work at all anymore from arthritis and Fibromyalgia (DDD as well). It’s no joke. You literally are supposed to be in 9 places at one with very debilitated people needing these preps for tests that would make me want to walk out. Enemas till clear where that’s all I did all night and with my NA and the young man was still full of poop! It never stopped! We were about ready to pull our hair out, and that was just one of my 7 patients for the 12 hour night shift. I could go on forever.
I used to work as a med-surg nurse, I'm a worker bee RN too. 🐝 those patients will have you gone!!!! I worked nights shift on MS my first 3 yrs of nursing. 😂 I know yo scruggle
I start my first RN next week on the Med surg unit and I’m sooo nervous!!!!. I honestly hope I’m cut out for it as I know it’s a lot of work! I hang on to watching all your videos ❤
It’s challenging but it gets you prepared for so many things.
Hi Kendra, sorry for that exam. I'm sûre you'll get it next time. We're here cheering and praying 🙏. As for that job, decide and choose what will promote your success for this program. You're doing great, keep it up 👆
The shift is always crazy on med surg and they alwaysssss need you, admission and discharges, doctors giving you orders, family members, the dementia patients etc. Its crazy
That was my life yesterday and today 😭😭😭
I love that lipstick on you. You are my inspiration ❤️.
Thank you, unfortunately it broke. It was from @patrickta ❤️
Girl. That lipstick was gorge you had on in the beginning. Drop us the nammmme 💄
Thus wasn’t long enough. I love these vlogs
I think I clicked on this video to hear your friends toast. I’m working on the last touches for my book rn. Good gawd I needed to hear that!
Yasss!!! Thank you for watching!
Girl I screamed when you said $50 budget in TJMAXX! I swear that place is like target for me 😂! No light nah shut off so gwAan and treat yuhself!
One exam babes! It will be better ❤
Girl med surg was a mess when I had to be pulled there! Bless those nurses
I’m on medsurg today again. Trust me Laurie it’s only because I have goals to meet and tuition to pay, lol.
Yay! A new video! 😊
Med-surg is definitely ongoing and heavily tasked oriented. I love that no matter how busy you are you make time for family and friends ❤Thanks for sharing Kendra 😊
Thanks sis. I’m exhausted.
You really had busy week. Beautiful decor.
Yes working part time is definitely needed… I did that when I was in Np school… I don’t think I would have made it if I didn’t.
Always enjoy the vlogs! You wear so many hats it’s refreshing to hear how you balance your time and how hard that can be. You definitely hit the nail on the head when you said, “Working on med-surg, you can’t win.” No truer words have been spoken😂 and trying to chart all that you do is such a challenge sometimes. Thank you for taking the time to share your life with us! 🩷🩷🩷
You are working so hard - Please take care of yourself. ❣
I’m so annoyed that I can not get into the hospital. They want you to have acute care experience but won’t hire you to get it. I’ve been feeling like I regret being a nurse. I know I’m just in a rut but 😢 and I’ve been a nurse over 5 years!! SMH
Hi sis, what state are you in?
@@KendraRN California
You are doing all the things Kendra ❤ yes for boundaries
Godbless you and give you the strength to continue ❤❤❤❤❤ hi from Springfield Massachusetts
Love love love these you tubes !
Glad you like them! I appreciate you watching
I love your vids so much!! You are such an inspiration ❤️
Thank you so much!!❤️
@@KendraRN Of course!!💖
girl I'm dead with "WWE smackdown"
its true though, tele med/surg is the trenches.
Love 🫶🏽your stories Kendra 💕
Thank you for watching ❤️
Heavy on the “Faith in God.” I’m right there with you Sis! 💯
That is the only way❤️
Kendra, I love your videos ❤like you said, med surg isn’t for the weak and I feel like it’s about to take me out. So far, I’ve noticed a lack of teamwork with some people on the track I’m about to be on as I start my first week on my own OFF orientation. I pray it gets better!
Hey Cam, how are you? I started in med surg and honestly I found it to be a great foundation. Things today are a lot different though, med surg is harder because patients are sicker.
Be sure to have professional goals and have a plan for your career. Focus on having a 1,3 & 5 year goal.
Hey boo looking good 😊
Hey sis!!! Hope you are well! Thank you.
@@KendraRN I’m well what about you?
I loved prison infirmary/med surg. 13 rooms, 15 patients.
Lmao!!! Pops chose violence 😭😂🤣
Whack, I bust out 😂 laughing 😆 . The sitter was like 😲😲😲
@@KendraRN 😭😭🤣 you have to stay ready!! I actually miss my patients on the floor. It's like a catch 22, I'm in the OR now and I do not like it. The training is terrible, very unorganized. Alot of attitude and tension amongst staff. It's terrible.
You'll pass the test next time!! Just speak it into existence 😊
Thank you for the positive words!
I'm on RDU Obs/ED Holding this contract. It's been action packed. I'm doing day shift this time. I miss my night shift. I do like that I have a full day off my split days off.
You’re up north still? Those units are nothing to play with.
@@KendraRN Yes. I'm only 3 weeks in. 6 weeks left. They asked me 2 extend. The good part about it is, I can come home every week.
I think you were my clinical instructor for fundamentals at Ccbc
I think I was. Hi Cierra!
Are you a single mom? I thought I saw your hubby in one of your vlogs. Sorry for being nosy🤪
I’m not a single mom. You did see him, he makes a feature every now and then.
$233.00 😱 you’re worse than me 😂
Love your content but I am seriously done with the advertising. I can’t get any work done because of all the ads.
😬😬😬 thank you and I’m sorry, RUclips places them automatically.
