- Hi beautiful people,
Glad to be back. In this sit down video, I share my journey on how I ended up becoming a nurse.
I also want to thank @kevinjubbalmd for the amazing commentary he recently did on one of my videos. I am grateful for the exposure. 💯🙏🏾
To anyone thinking of becoming a nurse, go for it. Do not let anyone or any content seen on here deter you. Nursing gives you an opportunity to change your life and future generation. You just have to plan accordingly.

Shout out to your mother. She knew that as a nurse you’d have the financial ability to take care of yourself and your child.
Congrats. I definitely see you as a professor. You will be one of the best ones.
Thank you so much 😊
@@KendraRNCongratulations on your hard work and constant learning to get where you are today. Your story is an inspiration to younger students getting into nursing. ❤
To go from CNA to NP took lots of dedication.
Wow!!! My mom told me I need to go to nursing school also. I wanted to be an accountant. One day while doing homework she said, why do you want to do that. You should go to school to be a nurse. You'll always have a job and you'll make good money."
I always listened to my mom. I changed my major that next semester. It will be 30 years for me on July 31st.
Come in mom with the knowledge. Thank you for watching and sharing 💗
It's sad that someone as welcoming and inclusive as you will no longer be in the field that much to be that comfort for new nurses on the floor, but I wish you the best in your goals. You're an awesome person, and thank you for your service. Hope your wellness improves.
Emily, thank you your kind words. It’s one of the reasons why I stay at the bedside, I feel like I have something to offer newer nurses.
@KendraRN you do please stay as long as you can, even prn or if your work place will allow you to work on your terms kind of. I am a new nurse, fellow Baltimore girl and I have learned a lot from your channel. I would love to work on the floor with you or for you to have been my preceptor.(wishful thinking).
Auntie Kendraaaa congratulations, I just want you to know as a student with the intention of becoming a surgeon, I love your content, it’s so insightful and I find myself binge watching all of your content. You are such an inspiration. You keep doing you ❤
Congratulations on your achievement, and thank you for sharing your experience. As a nurse with 11 years in the field 8 as an LPN and 3 as an RN, I appreciate your videos because you make me feel like I am not the only one struggling about what to do in the future. I want to leave bedside nursing at the same time I am not sure where to look because I also need a good pay rate which I am getting right now but I am tired of all the pettiness going on.
Congratulations on your graduation, Kendra! I am studying for the TEAS for LPN school. I plan on bridging after I gain some experience after graduating. There are limited options for BSN programs where I live, so it's taken some time, but this solution works for me.
I like that plan. Good luck on your TEAS exam.
What an intelligent, interesting, wonderful person you are. I’m a new subscriber to your channel. You certainly are a busy young lady. I admire all your accomplishments. 😊
Thank you Connie, I appreciate that. 💗
Kendra, everything you have mentioned IS MY JOURNEY regarding nursing. My mom told me the same thing!!! I went a different route after 2 semesters in a bachelor program at FAMU..I got my masters in public administration..now I'm back in the nursing program at a state college about to graduate in July.. wanting to study phd in behavioral health or np in mental health...😅 I also worked as a CNA. I'm med surg..diabetes unit
I love this. My mother did me the same way.. I was 25 when I had my daughter and having 9 nurses in my family.. it was a calling.. I love it till this day, and I am a 6 month ICU nurse..❤
Congrats! How are you liking the ICU?
Kendra thank you for your videos. I’m a novice nurse with 1 year of experience under my belt. I came across your videos yesterday and with watching them I have incorporated that into my practice. I feel like an even more SAFER nurse. Moving forward I will be driving home without the radio to reflect on my shift and how I can improve my practice.
Hi Kendra the first video I watched about you was 2 years ago when I started nursing school. I just want to thank you because it was beautiful for me to see someone who really likes nursing. Congratulations on your graduation. I also just recently graduated with my ADN. I really look forward to working in this profession. I am excited and hope for the best.
Omg Grace, I’m so happy for you and proud of you!!! That’s a huge accomplishment and I hope you’re proud of yourself too 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
Yes Kendra I am super proud of myself because my last semester was mentally draining. I followed a lot of your nursing school advice. I wish you would say yes to being my mentor for now I’m not ready to be an ICU nurse so I’ll be going to a different floor to learn the basics and have my time management down.
YOU KNOW KENDRA RN WHENEVER I SEE A NEW POST FROM YOU I GET EXITED AND I LISTEN TILL THE END.
I LOVE YOUR CONTENT
Hi Kendra, welcome back! Thank you for sharing your nursing story. It was very interesting. I have been a CNA for over 20 years. I am in my early 40s and continuing my career as a nurse. So, wish me luck.
You will be an awesome nurse. Sending you the best wishes on your nursing journey. Keep me posted.
The last video I watched, I ended it wondering how you got into nursing. Then you posted this! I appreciated hearing your story. Thanks! 😊 👍
Oh wow, great minds…
So glad I came across your channel. I've been following for a little while now. It's been very helpful. I finally decided to go straight to RN. Over the years I've been told that I should go to nursing school. I wanted to do something different but that dream career didn't work out for me. Early 2021 I took the CNA course. Didn't decide to take my exam until 2024. Still currently waiting on my test schedule date. Also applied to Community College for Nursing next Fall 2025. I currently work in direct care as a DSP as per diem. Being doing that for almost 2 years now.
Love your video, and I had a blast in Lpn, my adn rn, and msn schools. It really makes your experience and getting through school less stressful and fun.
Congrats Kendra and your skin looks fabulous
Congratulations Nurse Kendra 👏👏👏👏🎉🎉
Such a small world. From the moment I followed u I always thought u looked so familiar, turns out we went to the same high-school 😊 You are an amazing nurse and I'm glad life's twists and turns got u here! 👏 nursing education needs nurses like you 🙌
Congrats on finishing FNP school!
I wanted to be an FBI agent. Single mom of two working for an insurance company in customer service. My BFF was a nurse so I said, hey let me try! That was in 2001. I graduated in 2004, with honors. Sometimes I still question if this is what I’m supposed to be doing, but the way the path was laid out for me to get in to school and actually complete it, it was meant to be. I haven’t worked at the bedside since 2016 and every so often I think about it as a PRN gig but I just can not! 😂🙅🏽♀️Congratulations to you and best of luck in passing boards and in your next nursing adventure!
Kendra I am about 20-25 years older than you, and this video made my heart full because our stories are so very similar. It makes me feel that some things never change and there's a part of nursing that really bonds us as a sisterhood (brotherhood too, don't want to discourage our male cohorts!) But really, all the years apart we are and girl even the C in chemistry LOL! Dang, and barely a C! I used to live down the block from John Dewey H.S. on Stillwell ave under the big train tracks. Welcome back!
I KNEW you were from Brooklyn, you serve all the beautiful Vibes! (Fellow Brooklynite lol). Thank you for sharing your journey! Currently doing my nursing pre-requisites in a community college, and truly getting into the healthcare field at 31 partly thanks to YOU. You inspired me to go for it and trust myself to go for my nursing degree. Thank you
I think every Nurse should start at a CNA ~ !
It made me the nurse that I am today.
I’ve been a CNA for nearly 13 years and have built an impressive resume. However, the politics and culture of nursing, along with the requirements of nursing schools, have burned me out to the point where I don't even want to pick up a stethoscope and go to work. Despite this, there's something about you, Kendra, that keeps me going. Every time I decide I'm done with nursing, the Lord (or my guardian angel) leads me to your vlog. Somehow, it inspires me to keep pushing forward. Thank you for today's vlog. I wish you were in Michigan because I would definitely take any course you teach. Congratulations on successfully finishing your FNP program. I do not know you personally, but I have a strong sensation that you will be an exceptional FNP and will be able to assist many individuals, even when you are not anticipating it.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ you are the best Kendra!!! 💯👏🏾💖🙏🏽
Thank you so much. I feel the love
Glad your back and congratulations. Love the story 💕
Congratulations on finishing school!!
I love all of your content!! Glad you are back! You as a professor… ABSOLUTELY!!💯
Hi Eva, how have you been? Thank you so much 😊
@@KendraRN I’m well!! Thank you for asking 😊
Honestly I just unenrolled myself from pre reqs for Nursing. I am already a MA . The work load for classes kills your joy before graduation in my opinion. Plus the stories of nurse bullying and draining your life makes a person rethink the journey. 😢
Major congrats on the new degree!!!!!!!
Great video…my mother too encouraged me to be a nurse and I thank her everyday 🫶🏾❤️🙏🏾
Hey sis! Of course she did, lol. Thank you for the comment xoxo
Congratulations! Glad to see you back on RUclips! I watched Dr Kevin’s video! I was so proud of you being such a great influence for us nurses! ❤
Oh my, you are too kind to me. I appreciate you and thank you.
Hi Kendra, it's nice to have you back❤ Your community college journey sounds similar to mine. I still don't know anything about balancing an equation in chemistry and i got a 3.0 and 3.1 in A&P 1 and 2 respectively. I was mentally checked out of the sciences back then🤣
I knew it wasn’t me alone. I was so lost in chemistry 😩😩😩. Reflecting on it gives me so much anxiety because those classes hold so much weight.
Congratulations on graduating! I'm so proud of you, Kendra! I love your videos, especially your more educational videos! I love your Redonda videos. They were very insightful and helped me understand the world of nursing more. I'm not in the nursing world per say but i do work alongside doctors and nurses a like. I was a CNA in the past, but not anymore. I'm still part of the medical field, just not on the patient side of the field. Keep up with the good content. I like more of your educational videos because you give such a better understanding of things. I completely agree about community college being a good option for a lot of people. There is no shame in going to community college. I've been even thinking about going back to school at a community college just to get a business degree and then transfer, but i haven't decided yet, lol. But again, congratulations, and have a happy 4th of July, everyone!
Congratulations 🎉, let us know what kind of NP job you take
I always your content, very informative
Congratulations on your FNP completion

FINALLY!!!🤩
I have been watching all your old videos on rotation until you finally uploaded a new video!!!! 🤩
Hey Tracy. How have you been? Thank you for the love ❤️
Congratulations Kendra and blessings in your future endeavors. I always enjoy your conversations, it's like you're an old friend. I love your stories about nursing, your knowledge, advice and life experiences. You're a treasure to the nursing profession.
wow! EPIC mother you have! Sound advice.
Thank you!
All I can say to you right now is, THANK YOU!
Oh my… you’re very welcome. ☺️
Congratulations!!!!!
Thanks for sharing your journey! Any tips for new grads? I’m super anxious & the only thing I remember is to not push potassium.
Congrats Kendra
Congrats on graduation Kendra. Woo-hoo!
Congrats 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations 🎉❤
Thank you so much.
Congratulations Sis 🎊 🎉❤
Blessings sis, great to see you, congratulations on finishing NP course👏🏽🙏🏽
Congrats Kendra! So glad to see new content from you on RUclips. Happy Fourth!!
Hey Josh. How are you? Yes I’m back and plan to be more consistent. Thank you for watching.
Hearing you tell your story took me back to pre req days and getting accepted into the nursing program. God brought me a looong way, which is why its so disheartening that nursing has not been fulfilling when i worked so hard to get here. I hope that all of us at a cross roads in our nursing career can find a resolve on the next steps to take for our well being. I would like more content on becoming a nurse educator. I considered it, however the pay in this state is low, along with there being a major shortage in teachers. My first major was education b4 I got pregnant, so I would love to see a video on that.
I know that feeling all too well. I will definitely create a video on nursing education and if it’s worth it. That will be the next sit down. Thank you 😊
I started at BCCC. Even did not finish at BCCC. My mom is a nurse and my sister is too. My mom graduated from Allegheny Community College in Pittsburgh, Sis graduated from CCBC. All though we all have higher degrees than ADN now . My mom stressed the value and importance of at starting at community college.
Your Mom is smart, thx God for nursing. Yes I believe C.C. are great as well
They’re the best option I think.
😂😂 I had the same issues with general chemistry. I still don't know how I ended up with A. I watched a lot, lot of RUclips videos.
Congratulations on graduating from FNP school! So proud of you!
Thank you!
Awee my favorite nurse named Kendra posted 💕
Hellloooo!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I had a great time in nursing school.... CAlifornia Nurse here !!
Ayyyeeee lol, I’m not alone 🥳🥳🥳
I agree with you on the community college I wish I would have listen to my dad and went that route first and would have saved me whole lot of money
Yes, it’s the most efficient way.
❤love you Kendra xxx
Love you also. Thank you for watching 💗
Can you do a video on your experience going to a nursing program at an HBCU
FIRST!!
Don't for the consortium that is available for students in the DMV.
Inorganic & Organic chemistry was required when I was n NYC. When I moved 2 Bmore, my sciences expired & I had 2 retake all my sciences, completing Micro b4 moving. Inorganic Chem was required at the time. Chemistry is no longer required @ BCCC...go figure. I did well n Chem though, as well as the others. I love math & science. Statistics & Micro being my favorite.
Wow I completed chemistry at bccc cos it was required back then.
@@moonlightandstaryeyesbestr6061 They removed it n 2016 or 2015.
Awesomeness Kendra I’m new here
Welcome and thank you for watching 🙏🏾❤️
Babe please you are beautiful intelligent and worthy. No need to be looking left and right it VERY distracting. You got this.
Congrats on completing ur FNP program! 🎉💥👏🏿👍🏿💪🏿💯
Come do a quick travel assignment 4 old times sake.
I need the coins so don’t count me out.
I been trying to pass the teas for LPN keep failing I feel like this is my sign to do pre ques then apply to the RN program just baby steps I’m a CNA already though but I really wanna work in the hospital .
Thank you for your service too ❤️
Congrats on accomplishing your goal as a nurse. lol in wouldn’t last one day.
Solange!!!! Thank you so much!
Go back to teach. You will be a great professor. You will be the next Prof. Belgrave 😊
If your daughter wanted you to choose for her between medicine and nursing, what would you choose for her? And education is free where i live.
Congratulation, Kendra (niece in my head) 🤭 what's next?
Hi there, how are you? Thank you for the love .❤️
Is your mom a Baby Boomer? Baby Boomer parents didn't play. They told you what you were going to do. My mom was the same way. I told her I didn't want to go to college. Well, she didn't care what I wanted. She filled out my application and told me I was going. I know other people with the same story as you. My half-sister is a dentist because her mother chose that career for her lol.
She is, lol. That’s right mom 😊😊😊
