    So my grinder didn’t come with a marking for the horizontal scale that moves in and out. Don’t really feel like boxing it up and sending it back. Can you get me a measurement on yours so I can put a marking on mine?

    • @ChainsawUsers
      @ChainsawUsers  10 месяцев назад

      What is the horizontal scale.
      You 3 scales head tilting HOS Version does not have this it's a cheaper Version the second scale is the top plate angle and the 3rd scale is the sliding vice. Only The HOS version is set at 30° for the top plate cutting angle

      Are you saying you have no sticker on the left side for the sliding vice

    • @jeffreywaldman
      @jeffreywaldman 10 месяцев назад

      There is a scale on the sliding vice. But there is no mark for the top plate that slides! Seems like the mark would be centered on the pin thats in there per your video.@@ChainsawUsers

    • @jeffreywaldman

      There is the back scale that rotates the whole head. The front scale that rotates the guide. And the middle scale, which slides in and out, flat. On that scale, I have no indicator mark to align on the scale. It shipped with no mark! If you've got an email I can send you some photos. Also have some questions I'd love to throw at you about angle selection, if you're keen.

    Delighted with the new US G and had some fun setting it up, your videos were a great help. The only part I’m concerned about is dressing the rakers, looks like it’s very easy to take too much off, any tips ?

    • @ChainsawUsers
      @ChainsawUsers  8 месяцев назад

      I never dress the rakers on any grinder because most of the cutters are not even in length. I use a Stihl FL4 progressive gauge and file each raker. See my channel for more information on progressive depth gauges

    There are a few things wrong with the new chain sharpeners. At the dealer we have both (new and old) no one uses the new one, it is a really finicky tool. Keep your eyes open for the old ones pre 80s mods to be sure. You will love the difference. They are what gave stihl their name.

    • @ChainsawUsers
      @ChainsawUsers  Год назад

      Can you be more specific. I was told by my Stihl dealer they all know about the 2.7° being out on the head angle ( top plate cutting angle ) also that big huge plastic box on the motor now and the power lead and switch on the side. Why would stihl make the newer model USG worse ???? What is a few things worse on the new model you can name.
      Thanks for your comments

    I wouldn't bother using the pink wheels on the grinder, the wheels from Stihl are far better and its almost impossible to overheat a tooth with them.

    • @ChainsawUsers
      @ChainsawUsers  Год назад

      Yes I noticed on my Stihl USG grinder that those wheels work well not to sure how much they cost. A pink wheel here in Australia cost about $30. So I imagine Stihl wheel will be about $70

      @@ChainsawUsers Here in Canada the Stihl wheels are $30 a piece.

      @Maciej Jan Długosz It is probably easier to overheat the teeth with a finer grit. So they stick with a course one.

    kinds of machine has centering ploblem always. decreasing diameter of grinding wheel and sawchain plofile of each pitch or PN leads many mistake in the world.

      Understand that but marciej has same problem and his unit is 10 years old. It's out 2.7° on head tilt angle. And mine same. I made new mark so it's within .5° that's exceptable. 2.7° out from Stihl ? I sent a email to them but I don't except a answer.

      @@ChainsawUsers USG is also maybe OEM model like that oregon grinder from tecomec. That's why clear answer from stihl is hopeless. We, me, you, Marcieji will be good sawchain friend.

      @Hdyk Nmy The box that it came in said, made in Germany so it would indicate its made there, Maciej may know more about that grinder than me. He said he use's it 6 days a week and has it for 7 years. He sharpens chains all the time much more than average user. He is a great source of information. But like most big company's they don't like to admit to any small mistakes. That's why I check all angle markings on all my grinders even cheap Chinese ones are good that I have purchased but lack quality like the Stihl products.
