Great video - love how much you found from that TGH chapter!
I always like to add two points (in addition to everything you mentioned) to arguments against Lan having been "nerfed":
1. Lan actually takes out one of the Fades during the 2v1 sequence - and he does so after being wounded a few times. Indeed, one of the wounds appears to be a slice across his calf or hamstring, which makes it even more impressive that his finishing move is a one-legged twisting leap which blocks one Fade while decapitating the other!
2. Lan isn't just fighting Fades - he's guarding Moiraine, who is completely helpless at this point. Anyone who has ever played a video game with a "protect the NPC" mode should know how much harder this is. Lan can't just focus on killing one at a time, because he'll risk letting the other one slip past him to finish off Moiraine. And it's extra difficult because normally he'd be used to getting some sensory feedback through the bond to know that she's all right.

Thank you for this review. I'm on my first reading of the series, so didn't make the connections between the book and the episode. When I rewatch the series again I will have a greater appreciation of the episode. But I wonder, how did Moraine know Rand was in Cairhein? Why was that her next destination?

Moiraine was running a network of Eyes and Ears, and even though we discover that her younger sister had taken control of many of them, remember she was getting a string of visitors to Verin's home?
Bayle Domon is the only one we saw details of.
But we find out in a later episode that she knew Rand would head there as she got Logain out of the White Tower and placed him there.
Presumably, she had that confirmed, and now knowing Lanfear had been released at Cairhien, she has a pretty clear idea of the trouble.
I'm so glad you asked that because I didn't make that so clear, I must remember to talk about that in a later episode when it is revealed that she was the one that put Logain there.
How fantastic that you are reading the books - where are you up to now?
@@koalasedai book 11 Knife of Dreams. I do remember she claimed credit for Logain 's presence in the Cairhein asylum. Didn't realize she was using him to get Rand there
