Couldn’t agree more! People like to think of drumming like this magic thing, so I like how you broke down the physics.
To add to your point, the “feeling” you experience when you play will vary wildly even on drums, depending on sticks, heads and tuning. Being overly concerned with knowing exactly how something feels when you play sets you up for inconsistent results when you add variables. I always try to get students to focus more on the rhythms and resonance they produce, which shouldn’t depend on what they play on, as well as how they’re approaching it.
Looking forward to the next video!

Drumslinger Corps Pad and Hardimon Indoor sticks seem to fit what you are saying at
the 3:23 mark. A very responsive pad and lighter sticks.

Thanks for this video! I have such limited access to an actual drum and realizing that I should worry about sound quality as opposed to feeling will hopefully contribute to a smooth transition!

Does offworld invader prevent or at least lessen the effects of pad hands?
