    How do you log your time sleeping in the back seat? I have heard the back seat of a pick up truck does not qualify as a legal DOT sleeper berth. Also do you have to log your drive time when using your truck for personal use?

    I knew a couple He drives 650 and she does 350 + dispatch for a few
    trucks. I think most of their loads are relays.

    Grandad was a trucker. He kept 20 oz bottles in the truck to pee in. Didn't even stop driving.
    RIP Grandad. You were tough as nails.

    My company has a 65 mph policy when hauling a trailer. That puts me at 715 miles on a perfect day. I’m shooting for 650 miles or just above and calling it good.

    • @WeekendTruckin
      @WeekendTruckin  4 года назад

      So far yes most of my routes I’ve brought them home, which is only 500-600 miles from most yards then I’ll take them out to drop the next day or two. Which allows me to not worry too much on speed but focus more so on fuel economy

  • @texnolan4740
    @texnolan4740 2 года назад

    If the calculation is 65mph 715 miles, does that calculate your slow down speeds in cities?
    If you was to look back over the year, what is your average day now?

      It was right at 141k. I’ll put together a video on my setup and include the truck info too! Thanks for the comment!!

  • @mikephillips5541

    My log books got audited and it will show when you exceeded 70mph. I had 3 flags, 70.8mph, 71.3 mph and a 84.6 mph.

    • @WeekendTruckin
      @WeekendTruckin  3 года назад

      Are you hooked up to your truck? There'd be no way that comes in when it's just an app on your phone and you just put miles at the end of the day vs. odometer readings... Hopefully it wasn't anything major in terms of a potential fine, etc. for ya!

    • @mikephillips5541
      @mikephillips5541 3 года назад +1

      @@WeekendTruckin it was a company audit, they wanted to show what potential violations would occur if I got inspected. The 84 mph I was unloaded coming across Wyoming, but mind you this was an avg speed, cause when I am not loaded it is balls to the wall coming back, I have covered 900 miles easy on 11 hrs empty.

    • @WeekendTruckin
      @WeekendTruckin  3 года назад

      @@mikephillips5541 So I take it you have an ELD (that means it's hooked up to your truck, right?)?

    • @mikephillips5541
      @mikephillips5541 3 года назад

      @@WeekendTruckin no, we are required to send copies of our paper logs thru our app after we drop a load to include one receipt for each day we are loaded

    • @WeekendTruckin
      @WeekendTruckin  3 года назад

      So how would your speed ever be able to be “caught”? I guess if you completed, say a 71 mile, haul in a time that averaged out to be faster than what it should be to get there...?

      I made a long comment yesterday on your 3-day work week, and how rv transport is not a bad way to make a living... I just watched this video for giggles, to see what you had to say, and I noticed that you drive for the same company that I did.... At least you were with them when you made this video 9 months ago.... One of the larger companies, and it was the only company I drove for, but from the things I heard, probably one of the better companies to drive for.... Their fuel discounts, especially at Sapp Brothers we're off the charts... I primarily drove West and stocked up on all that cheap fuel, that was back in aug 2014 when diesel was averaging more than it is currently.... On a side note, I wonder if you happen to see any of those center rail trailers for sale around Elkhart area?...

    • @WeekendTruckin

      Hey Robert! I believe that’s how you’re suppose to log it- on duty, not driving

      @@WeekendTruckin ok cool. Thanks man. I’m giving the RV transporting a shot. Even though I have a gas truck 2500 I’m gonna do it part time and keep my “day job” for now. I’m from the Cleveland Ohio area so I’m hoping there’s decent loads going east out of Indiana.

      Getting fuel is logged as On Duty not Driving - fueling on EDL’s. Paper logs same, just denote fueling on your flag below location.

    Very very few times can a person run 11 hours drive time.
    For people who dont drive, if you think you are going to drive 11:00 every day, you will be in violation nearly every day 😆
    700-800 miles a day is a big swing 😆. Id imagine you are averaging in the mid to upper 600 range with a few days in that mid 700 here and there.

    • @WeekendTruckin

      Hey there!! You do. Regardless of what people say or do (myself included when I had my truck- I never logged after deliveries) if you don't log a full trip from start to finish you can get put out of service or maybe some type of ticket/fine from that one DOT officer!

    • @WeekendTruckin
      @WeekendTruckin  4 года назад +1

      Thanks, Christian!
      My insurance runs at $290/month and that's with comp and collision added. For trips headed in that area, there always seems to be trips east! My advice would be to have a 5th wheel setup so you can take any option headed that way though.
