    My 82 year old mother was on HRT back in the day and they took her off several years ago because of the HRT scare mongering. I didn't know anything about this until I became old enough to need to start looking into it. She has lost probably 3 inches in height and just looks tiny. Thankfully she has not had any fractures, but it proves to me that HRT is essential to maintaining bone health and strength. It's too late to help her now, but I won't let myself age like that! Incidentally, when I asked her if she was on HRT and she told me they took her off of it, she got very concerned and tried to lecture me when I told her I was going on it. That scare mongering really did a number on a generation of women!

      My mother is 89 and still on HRT. Her doctor keeps wanting to take her off it, but fortunately she is adamant about staying on it. She is very healthy for her age despite painful arthritis and only takes blood pressure pills besides HRT. No sign of dementia or osteoporosis, heart disease. I am now on HRT and loving it, wild horses won't get me off it either. I'm so sorry your mother was taken off it, so unfair.

    Nobody I known who uses Testosterone, including myself has experienced negative side effects. I’m on what’s considered a high dose for women and my blood levels are around 200 which is where I feel best. Zero side effects. Testosterone is the female’s most abundant hormone. It’s made by both ovaries and adrenals and necessary for estrogen to be produced.

      All that matters is what works for YOU. And as long as you know what each option CAN do and CANNOT do, you will be happy in the long term. But using yourself and your circle as scientific evidence is a huge mistake.
      The great thing about this education is that you can use it (or refuse it) as you please. There is nothing that is right for all women. We are not robots.
      You never have to justify your choices to anybody. My goal is to empower you to manage YOUR menopause YOUR way ... and allow all other women to do the same.

Thanks in part to your channel and findi g a good hormone Dr., I have been on BHRT since 1 year post-meno. I am 58 and just had first DEXA and -3.1 in spine! I'm DEVASTATED. My hormone doc says maybe from the one year in meno w/out HRT. Do you think its possible to lose that MUCH bone in one year? Or should I be chasing down another possible cause? I already have scheduled with an Endocrinologist, and I will definitely be scheduling a two hour consultation with you.
    I am waiting for bloodwork results and in the process of gathering all my existing medical records to submit to you with the questionnaire. In the meantime I'm very curious if you think one year untreated meno can cause that much bone loss? Thank you in advance!

    Dr. Taylor, i really like how you indicate this is the “minimum necessary dosage” that should help us with the nagging feeling or the wrong idea of “taking too much estrogen” as well as when a doctor mentions to the to take “the lowest dose possible” it makes us think like that’s a good thing !

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  3 года назад +4

      Well, feeling like a lower dosage is better is the result of fear.The only opinion that matters is YOUR OWN BODY'S. So if you take HRT and still have any symptoms of estrogen deficiency, that's your own body telling you it's not enough.
      And if you take HRT and you continue to lose bone, that's your own bones telling you that you don't have enough estrogen.
      It's all really just so simple. But that's the thing about fear. It makes people blind to even the simple things.

      If you want to assess the status of your heart arteries get a basic cardiac workup. Any cardiologist can give you a simple EKG and stress test. • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  4 года назад +2

      Cynthia,
      Remember, your breasts have been responding to estrogen and progesterone since you went through puberty. They don't know the difference between your own hormones and HRT. They just say, "Hey, those hormones that made us do our thing are back, so let's do our thing."
      If you were prone to breast cysts before you became post-menopausal, you may remain so afterward if you take HRT. But if you take HRT in a continuous regimen rather than a cyclic regimen, you are less likely to have any cysts simply because there is no hormonal rollercoaster.

      @MenopauseTaylor Oh I'm so sorry for this late reply! I guess that you're prescribing via these video appointments to? We have the Atlantic between us and unfortunately wouldn't any prescription from another country be ok here.
      But if you have a little time, I would be very happy if you could answer a few questions: 1. Test-levels on BC comes out very low BUT STILL they are supposted to be the most potent estro we have.
      I can't find the logic in that?
      I know that ethylene estradiol turns into some other types of estro but where are they "hiding" then? We get levels like post menopause women and that feels really wrong for us in need for vitality, strength, muscles, a strong skeleton, good hair, sexual functions, no bodily pains, drive etc. Because you always hear that BC floods your body with estrogene. Reality=Miniscule, very old lady levels. Do we get any benefits at all from BC-levels, like for bones ex?
      2. Are the test- levels on HRT much higher? They are supposted to be weaker than BC..?
      I don't get it!
      3. I got terrible sick after a forced BC stop, crashed down into postmenopaus
      with no production of my own, no estro/testo and a half ok progesteron. The physician never told me about external hormones as a smoother transistion, I was not educated and left with no sex hormones at all, in any form. My body RAPIDLY deteriorated.
      Became an old, very sick, brittle grandma in two weeks. Hairloss, teeth problems, bodily pains, sexual dysfunctions, muscle loss, deeply depressed etc etc.
      Started stronger BC once again, after 4 months without menstruation and zero estro/teso but got a DVT after only two weeks... Here I stand again, still severely sick from the hormone crash last time, (got hypothyroidism at the same time too..) REFUSING to not have some form of enough estrogen!
      What is correct: One physician said that I could continue BC with bloodthinners, one said that EVERYTHING with estro was dangerous, (testogel ok), but serious sites online told me that patch, spray and gel isn't a highten clot risk.
      And again, as long as you take bloodthinners with your BC, everything is alright.
      What IS the truth?
      Last question 4.
      I have Lenzetto and Provera, at home now. What dose is needed for great bone and muscle health? (I used to heavy-lift).
      The doses confuse me very much and how to compare all the products to each other. Because I took 0,035mcg ethylene estradiol BC and can't risk to fall down to hell again by taking something LOWER. How many Lenzetto sprays equals my BC, for a smooth transition?
      Taken 4 sprays today, 10mg Provera and 5mg testosteron.
      I hope you understand my, a bit messy, tired questions. And would REALLY APPRECIATE if you could sort this out once and for all. I want my life back! 😢
      Thank you! ❤

    I am very grateful for the education you have given and continues to give. I am in perimenopause and you have given me the tools to manage it. I am currently managing my symptoms with 20mcg (.02 mg ethynil estradiol) hormonal birth control pills. Your chart indicates one would need .1-.15mg of ethinyl estradiol per day to prevent osteoporosis. Doesn't seem as if my dosage is high enough to do this? Should I be concerned?
