I was made to fear the thought of HRT by other women. I tried to live with the symptoms for one year and tried all the vitamins and herbs suggested. Nope, they did not work for me! I went to my doc and told her I could not live like this so she prescribed a low dose of estrogen and progesterone...just enough to make the hot flashes go away. Since becoming a student of Menopause University (and watching your videos in order!), I have been taking the required dose to prevent those diseases. Fear can definitely make you freeze and do nothing...like the ostrich with its head in the sand. I will never be like that, again. My 75 year old mom has osteoporosis and needs a hip replacement. Talking with her the other day and telling her about your videos, she was telling me 30 years ago when she started feeling like she was “going crazy” her doctor told her, she just needed to endure menopause and wear light fabric clothes for the hot flashes 😡😡, her doctor put her on estrogen for only a couple of years and then told her she needed to stop taking it as soon as possible. 😳😳 so she did. It WASN'T a competent study. It was the worst study ever done. But it was so big and expensive that everyone treats it like the Bible. And look what its done to women! When you learn these truths, you realize more than ever that you really have to fend for yourself.
Estrogen can MAINTAIN bone no matter when you start taking it. But it cannot REPLACE the bone you have already lost no matter when you start taking it or how long you take it. Did the WHI study publish T scores of the women over the 5 yrs of the study? You shared the fracture prevention metrics-curious to know if the study contained BMD values. Also at 14:22 you stated that estrogen can replace bone loss. By how much? Does that vary by age group?
No two women are alike. So you cannot predict or generalize. The WHI did not set out to address osteoporosis at all. They tacked it on as an afterthought and did not design any aspect of the study for addressing it. Estrogen PREVENTS bone loss. It does not replace it. And age is irrelevant.
I'm on a Facebook page for women who had/will have hysterectomies. Many had hysterectomy with BSO, but refuse to do hrt because of the study. I try to send them to Menopause University and let them learn that they have options to pick and if it means fighting their doctor for HRT, then fight....I'm hoping some found your videos As for me, I ASKED for if ag surgery follow up. The only labs pertinent to a consultation are (1) Lipid studies (cholesterol, etc.), (2) Thyroid labs, (3) DEXA bone density test, (4) Mammogram, and (5) Any abnormal tests or labs that you wish to address in the consultation. This whole series on osteoporosis has only confirmed my decision to use both a systemic form of estrogen in addition to the cream for my vagina. I don’t want any of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse visiting me: heart disease, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s, or vaginal/bladder atrophy. One of the symptoms of my teratoma was bone loss in my jaw that my dentist noticed when I was 28 years old. That darn tumor stole my estrogen ha ha ha.

You have a lot of misinformation here, Rosalinda. Your breasts have always responded to estrogen and progesterone, since you went through puberty. But it has never been a reason for worry. HRT is nothing but a replacement for the same hormones your ovaries used to produce. Why would you think HRT causes these things if the estrogen and progesterone that has been surging through your body for the last 40 years doesn't?
I wish you were practicing in NY or that other doctors understand what you do! Every doctor I have known of all kinds are super scared of hormones because of that stupid study! My uterus is in trouble and I want a hysterectomy but I am having a hard time because my new GYN is mad at me for having fibroids and a thick uterus. It's because your estrogen decreases. As a female, estrogen is to you what testosterone is to a man. 2 years after you lose your estrogen, you lose your testosterone.

Knowing the whole story is always the key. Never assume you get the whole story from any resource, though. You have to really analyze the actual study itself (or rely on me to do it for you).
Because your vagina does not need progesterone. Only your uterus does. And the vaginal estrogen creams do not travel to your uterus, or anywhere. They consist of molecule that ate too large to enter the blood stream.

Knowing the whole story is always the key. Never assume you get the whole story from any resource, though. You have to really analyze the actual study itself (or rely on me to do it for you).
Why does the vagina cream estradiol does not contain progesterone?
I think because the cream stays in the vagina and doesn’t travel throughout the body.
Because your vagina does not need progesterone. Only your uterus does. And the vaginal estrogen creams do not travel to your uterus, or anywhere. They consist of molecule that ate too large to enter the blood stream.
