Of their latest album (2022), basically they were told by their studio to make a compilation album of their best tracks, so in rebellion, they made this album, which was supposed to take inspiration off their previous albums. The band had their heights in the 00s, but has since then segmented themselves as one of the best live acts in the world. Despite being a rock band, they do dabble into other genres as R&B, progressive , classical, alternative, dubstep and others, even making a 13-minute mini symphony, which I can highly recommend.
The song is about the Black Lives Matter movement. Don't know why they recommended you this one, though, as this is one of their weakest songs imo. Many see this as the little brother of 'United States of Eurasia', from their album 'The Resistance'.
Yes, Matt Bellamy said he drew inspiration from the BLM protests. Drawing inspiration from the BLM movement is far different than the song directly being about BLM. The lyrics are very open ended, as intended. So I disagree about the song being "about" BLM. As for why someone would recommend this track... your opinion, even if the popular opinion, does not reign supreme. Some people like things you dislike. This song is far superior to United States of Eurasia. One of Dom's best drum tracks of all-time, the piano is way more impactful, and the vocals are better. But that's just my opinion, of course.
