Range Report: Springfield Armory U.S. Rifle 30 Cal. M1 Garand (made in 1945)

- In this Range Report I shoot and review an interesting piece of WWII history. This is a 1945 production M1 Garand made by Springfield Armory. This was the U.S. military rifle from 1936 until 1957 when it was replaced by the M14. It is also the first semi-automatic rifle adopted by a military. It was called "the greatest battle implement ever devised" by Gen. George S. Patton. How do this thing shoot? How does it compare to a modern rifle? As an average gun gun, what do I like and dislike about it? This video documents my personal thoughts, opinions and experiences with this firearm. Yours may vary.

New to your channel and like your content. Usually I don’t care to hear reviews from a guy who won’t buy the gun he sings the praises of. But on the other hand you gave a stage for your friend to showcase a splendid battle rifle. I liked and subscribed.
Thank you so much! I know my style is not standard, but I try to just make honest content.
Very cool rifle
Yes it is!
Hey Jason thanks for the review I just got a Aug 1944 a month ago haven’t shot it yet as i need to get some correct ammo i also have had an M1A for few years & love it. Its been on my bucket list for a long time and when one came through the local pawnshop i couldn’t pass on it looking to have lots of “let freedom ping” moments in fact i want to be the first kid on my block to get Garand Thumb 😮
Sounds like you have a really nice rifle there! Congratulations!
Hey Jason. Love your channel. I have 2 International Harvesters. They are just plain awesome. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for your kind words about my channel. It means so much
For me that safety seems great. use the bottom of the thumb to unset and pointing finger to set, service men of our time had M14 and enjoyed that type of safety. Of coarse that was 40 years ago.
Fair point. I can see that.
Good morning, Jason, the Garand was on my bucket list when the gun laws change here in 1996. You can still have them if you have the right license. But that aside, I would love to have handled one. Brilliant range report. Cheers
I bet they are expensive there
@@thetexasgunvault Between $5000-$6000
0:27 love that pinging sound
It is really cool to hear in person
Wow thats a nice 78 year old rifle. On my bucket list !
I felt very honored to get to shoot it
I picked up one years ago from Woolworth's in the mall, before thay closed. I picked up a couple hundred clips much later, I still have not loaded them all.
I bet you got it cheap compared to today's prices!
@@thetexasgunvault Probably, it was so long ago, I do not have my receipt. At the same time, I elso picked up a .303 Enfield, 6.5 Swedish, and 7mm Mauser, they are all long gone. This was in an upscale mall in Chalotte, and me and my buddy were carrying all the surplus rifles through the mall to the car. lol. I passed on the 03 Springfield, I wish I had picked up one of those.
